Lyrics:
Frankie Laine, he was singing Jezebel
I pinned an Iron Cross to my lapel
I walked up to the tallest and the blondest girl
I said, "Look, you don't know me now but very soon you will
So won't you let me see"
I said "won't you let me see"
I said "won't you let me see
Your naked body?"
"Just dance me to the dark side of the gym
Chances are I will let you do most anything
I know you're hungry, I can hear it in your voice
And there are many parts of me to touch, you have your choice
Ah but no you cannot see
She said "No you cannot see"
She said "No you cannot see
My naked body"
So we're dancing close, the band is playing Stardust
The balloons and paper streamers they're floating down on us
She says, "You've got a minute left to fall in love"
In solemn moments such as this I have put my trust
And all my faith to see
I said all my faith to see
I said all my faith to see
Her naked body
Naked body
All my faith...
(...you cheated you lied) Видеоклипы
car seat headrest is a pretty cool band
for real
Everytime I listen to this I imagine a thirteen year old Leonard Cohen (who has a thirty year old face for some reason) at his first dance and the “tallest, blondest girl” is a senior.
I feel like I could listen to this song and dance to it while watching the end of the world, happy for ever because of having heard Mr Cohen sing
What an amazing observation
When he came into my world through my parents it truly was the end of the world as I knew it
Well said.
Best drinkin album ever!
Doing so now. Such a beautiful piece of music. Cheers 🥂
You can say that again
The Icelandic film White White Day brought me here.....yet another great LC track.
Me too.
Same
Same
Same lol
Same!
Just heard this song for the first time on my Spotify weekly playlist. Perfection.
Long Live Leonard Cohen RIP... I was mixing this song in my punk rock bar in 1977 !!!...
Sick any other song you recommend?
@@Lou-if1th Hey Luis, I am from Montréal and I have been a Leonard Cohen fan over 50 years, I love all his songs... First we take Manhattan, Dance me to the end of love, So long Marianne, Suzanne, Everybody knows, I'm your man, Hallelujah... ♥️
I was in it for Phil; didn’t care for it at the time (1977), but 30 years later found it incredible - because of Phil.
I actually saw a live performance of this song in Austin about 10 years ago. Always thought this album never got the respect it deserves.
Really an interesting story behind this album, definitely has that Phil Spector touch.
I have always said it is the greatest album of all time, that sound can never be replicated
@@j.c7719 Death of a Ladies Man always puts me in this relaxing, dreamy state.
The story of Leonard and Phil making the album is fascinating.
Where can you find this story?
"I wrote this a couple of years ago with the great genius of darkest Hollywood, Phil Spector."
The outro is sheer genius. Leonard just lets rip into that vocal.
You should listen to the song Not Now John it’s ending is exactly like this, it’s great
Grande Leonard Cohen!
Terrific album
Is it me, or a young Cohen looks like a young Al Pacino?
That’s what i’ve been thinking this whole time!!
At times he has a striking resemblance to Dustin Hoffman.
😅
The other way round.
Extraordinaire !!!
I have been drop kicked with emotion by Leonard Cohen
This tune does have the reputation of surprising someone with unseen power
@@mlg2592 Because of its dreamlike quality. It is about things normal people think, but do not say. And also about a Jewish boy aspiring to a Nordic beauty pretending he is one of them (The Iron Cross... )
The best album cover ever! Photographed between two natural beauties!
But his worst album ever.
@@ThePat1962 he thought so, but I don't agree
@@RealCesarTapiaNo, it was their inaccurate opinion on Spector’s works fault. The album is faultless, anyone who criticises it couldn’t do better, nor could they compose songs like this.
Maravilhoso!
A treasure
Coisa linda.
beautiful
Masterpiece ❤️
I was watching the HBO documentary film about Leonard Cohen called "Marianne and Leonard: Words of Love" and it noted his friendship with Phil Spectre who wrote "Memories." It was the only song performed that Phil actually wrote. Things we don't know, huh?
What do you mean?
Yo Charlene C, Leonard Cohen wrote this song with Phil Spector who I love as a musician and I hate as a macho man...

Sure it does 😂

Frankie Laine
Why couldn't Leonard see the genius in Spector's productions? What a shame. I love them both. Lenoard & Phill !!
I think Leonard did see the genius in Spector but he was probably put off my having a gun put to his head or having the master tapes hijacked for months.
Grønningen i kveld.
fuck yeah dude.
I can understand Leonard didn't want all his music to sound like this , respect all the way. But this Album needed Phill Specter.
Two genius: Cohen and Spector.
Splendido lp
Harika

Albacore sandwiches by the sea just you and me
~Love From Up Above 💙💚💛🥪

R.I.P. Cohen
R.I.P Spector
the best part is at the end when he says in nazal childish voice: "you cheated and you lied, you said that you loved me" hahaha it's the best and then someone says Yes I do Yes I do
as in love you

I think that's an uncredited Dylan at 5:40
There is a film where this song has played? Am I wrong?
Yep, a great Icelandic film called White, White Day features this song.
Logan Fuller any1?
Hvítur, Hvítur Dagur
Lol
Sorry Phil needed to lay off the drugs in this one. That
Mix is washed out to the max. Leanord deserved better
What a mess…
Yes but a nice one
