- The Skoda Kushaq is available in 2 flavours. There's the 150hp, 1.5 TSI and the 115hp, 1.0 TSI. How much more performance does the 1.5 TSI get you for the extra money? We've got a drag strip to find out.

I brought VW TAIGUN 1.0 (AT) before 2 months (as I personally liked it more than Skoda Kushaq) & did 4000km till now… since it was a side family car so i decided to save nearly 2 lacs by not buying the 1.5L engine and started using it daily since it was new 😆… I must say the 1.0L engine is fantastic and I’m more than satisfied… went for a nice good quality highway stretch of 300km (one side) with 3 other adults and it was very smooth… reached upto 120-130kmph smoothly around 2200rpm (Average) and 1.0L doesn’t feel underpowered at all… fuel economy was around 11-12kmpl… overall I must say if u don’t wanna spend extra premium… go for 1.0L AT and you wont be disappointed… high value for money if you consider driving experience… kudos to VW & SKODA 👏 👏
Why doesn't skoda give the 1.5 tsi with torque converter?

Will be interesting to see Kushaq and Slyvia on this strip. Both 1 and 1.5!
I feel that 1 lt AT is good for cities where you need quick acceleration to clear traffic around you and 1.5 DSG for highways where you need quick shifting gears for fast overtaking. So both are good in their own aspect.
1.5 has dsg lag
Add weight to it with family and the bigger engine with long stroke will dominate further. But 1.0 is super practical and overall a reliable package due to the torque converter.
The skoda designs are so good though😍😍😍I regret not going to one of its showrooms when I was buying a car 2 years back... Bought Nexon instead...

Nexon is not regrettable either it's facelift model especially looks very good and it's a great car but what can we do about Inferiority complex of Indians and foreign slavish mentality

I booked Nexon XZ+S in Dec 21 and it was to be delivered last week of this month. 2 weeks ago i visited a newly opened Skoda showroom in my town and test drove Kushaq and 2 days later I cancelled my Nexon booking 😄
They indeed are handsome cars. But you would be spending way more in maintaining and servicing if you have bought a similarly priced Volkswagen or a Skoda car.
I got the 1.0 AT only and only because the DSG, despite being a cracker of a gearbox, has so little reliability. It's a shame that there are buyers who want the DSG performance and are ready to pay the premium but still don't have the confidence to make that decision.
So, i have made peace with the surprisingly peppy 1.0 litre mill mated to the excellent torque converter. I don't mind the extra 2-3 seconds taken and that's a decision i won't regret.
What about less efficiency in city conditions despite having less power?
Excellent decision! I dont understand what's wrong with the company.. dsg have had complaints since years now.
@@SuyashKaul FE is around 9-11 KMPL depending upon traffic. Heavier traffic it will be lower and slightly moving traffic it even goes 11 and above
OP: 1.5 L with Torque converter might sell better.
@@SuyashKaul As i have just bought the car, can't share first hand feedback. But it's a known fact that turbo charged engines don't take kindly to city conditions or a heavy foot on the accelerator. Anyway, my running will be more on the highway, so hoping I get decent mileage there. The cruise control will come in handy there, for sure.

At city speeds 1.5 will just keep seeing 1.0's tail all day long. Skoda/VW should have provision for different drive modes where the T-Roc tune can be accessed, and 1.5 TSI + DSG combo can truly stretch its legs.
We need a race of the manuals. It is a drag race after all. Stick shift for life!
1.0 is more than enough on Indian roads and for safety too.
Can you please drag race 1 lt AT with its rivals in most favoured trims? That'll be more realistic approach to see the performance difference.

I just touched 165 in kushaq1.5t and trust me it was stable af. No rattling or anything. Needless to say the most powerfull engine under 21L after XUV of course but that's huge so.....
I have touched 190 kmph with my 1.5 tsi manual.vehicle is very stable upto 140. 190 speed done at madurai to tuticorin highway.
I touched 240 in Nano on expressway. Rock solid stability. Indians are competing with Germans. Long live Ratan Tata.
Please do the same with all the other cars present in the nation. Helps a lot who are going to buy the cars and bikes.

Hey i am always selfish n hungry for best engine n output torque ratio...
Price is crucial but slight bump for a happy ownership rather than a guilt of IF..
Ex:- 85&110ps for duster ...
72&100ps for kiger ...
I believe a customer should go for the best engine n torque ratio for the price one search for..
Second mileage delivery
Luggage loading followed by ground clearance to wade through water..
Also the feature it offer for the price...
But before searching ...select the segment for the price
No one did drag race between Creta 1.4 dct & Alcazar 2.0 Petrol AT. It will be more interesting if done between Carens 1.4 DCT & Alcazar 2.0 Petrol AT.

Both are good in their respective uses if u want true performance and fun 1.5 is the one to go…if u are just a regular driver with most driving in city and occasional weekend drives 1.0 does the job very well and trust me it doesn’t feel underpowered, try ur self and feel it

I did the same drag both were automatics as well but I manage a good footwork in 1.5 and believe me it was even quicker from the 1.0 L tsi

Nothing in the automatic segment is bang for your buck anymore. Prices creep up and cost cutting continues.

1.5 is better for longer run. Over the period engine tends to slow down and 1.0 will lose its charm !!! Always bigger engine for SUV gives peace of mind for longer run
That 1.5 TSI with cylinder deactivation has not necessarily been the best example of longevity, at least not without issues since it’s launch in 2017. Some changes have been made but I would suggest to tread with caution
As far as India is concerned I would go with 1.0 TSI as it has a much simpler design and the city driving in high temperatures are not necessarily the best to test ‘new’ designs that have yet to prove their merits.
These engines use a lot of engine oil lines to actuate the deactivation features. So do change your engine oil before 10k kms. Waiting for 15k is stretching in this case
Also, over how long the engine slows down? Keep up with maintenance, it will perform almost like new even after 100k kms. Good engines don’t lose compression before 200k or even 300k kms

Wrong. It’s all how about how one maintains a car, with proper oiling and cleaning.

After seeing how much the 1.0 3-cylinder engine on my Taigun struggles under 2000 RPM, I regret not going for 1.5, but there’s unaffordability aspect too !
