Hi Cj ~ It's always fun hearing from you. Thank you for watching my video and your sweet compliment. I appreciate it a lot. While editing this video, I heard the clock ticking in the background and thought "OH NO! You can hear the clock ticking!" I'm glad it's not a totally "put off" to everyone, LOL! :) ione
Hi Marcy ~ Thank you for watching my video and the lovely compliment. I've had my share of soap spills and splatters, believe me. Don't be so hard on yourself. Although I try to keep the mess off camera, I still have to clean it all up. My least favorite part of soap making, LOL! :) ione eve
Hi JoJo ~ thanks for watching and taking the time to leave such a nice comment. Most of the time I feel like a klutz when making soap ~ I try to leave that part out of the videos, LOL! :) ione eve
Hi Donna ~ thank you for watching and leaving the gracious comment. I'm getting settled into a new home and haven't got my soap room set up yet. I made this soap before I moved. Can't wait to start making more ~ LOL!
Thank you, Mick ~ I appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave such a gracious comment. Hearing from nice people like you is what makes doing these videos worthwhile! :) ione eve
I have decided that of all the soaping videos I've seen I love yours the best! I have researched so many videos and truly your soaps are amazing! Please continue with your videos, I look so forward to them. FYI: my Father lives in Foster City /Felch! I travel to see him every couple of months, love the U P!
You done it! Great drop swirls. I was worried at first that they were going to have a look of tiger stripes when you were pouring. Was holding my breath! You know I'm gonna have to try! Loool thank you for sharing your method.
christine1962ful Hi Christine ~ thank you for watching and the nice comment. I think using thicker traced soap, larger streaks side by side is what changes the look from tiger stripe. I tried this technique again recently. I did it all the way through the soap this time, and it looks pretty cool. Happy soaping! :) ione eve
Hi Mel ~ thank you for watching, and leaving the sweet compliments. I'm trying to get organized in a new residence and haven't made or watched videos for a while. Your kind words are encouraging! :) ione eve
EvesGardenSoaps Hi sweetie! I hear ya, I may be moving also, so I've been out of the soaping world mostly for quite a while too. I MISS soaping so much, but don't want to have to move a bunch of soap and take the chance of it getting ruined while moving. But boy do I miss it...wahhhh! :-) Good to see you making videos. :-) Mel
BodyCareBoutique I was wondering why I hadn't seen any videos from you for a while. Best of luck in your move. I haven't got my soap supplies unpacked yet ~ other things are keeping me busy. I'll be going through soap-making withdrawls soon, LOL!
Thank you, Karin ~ I appreciate your kind words. Soap making is always a challenge. I guess that's why it's so much fun. Never give up trying. Happy soaping! :) ione eve
Hi Peggy ~ thank you for watching and leaving the nice comments. I made this soap and video before I moved residences, then visited my son for 6 weeks. I came home to unpacked boxes and I've been trying to get organized, but with the holidays approaching, I figured I better get it on RUclips before they're over ~ LOL!
These would be great as a wedding party gift. Perhaps those for the brides maids and such at the Rehearsal dinner. The guys could get one made with the colors of the wedding or even dress it in a tux
Hi Michelle ~ We must be on the same wave length. I was thinking about making wedding favors all day, lol. Thanks for watching my video and your uplifting comment. I appreciate it very much. :) ione
Hi Kay ~ thank you for watching and the nice comment. I changed residences, then before I was even unpacked visited my son for 6 weeks. I always help him during cranberry harvest on his farm. I returned and am trying to get settled in my new home. I made this soap and video before I moved, and figured I better put it on RUclips before the holidays are over. I plan to make more after I get organized. Thank you for the inspiration! :) ione eve
Hi Sharon ~ thank you for watching and the lovely comment. I love your videos too! The soap came out similar to what I was trying for. I'll be putting my thinking-cap on for improvements, LOL! :) ione eve
Hi Gigi ~ thank you for watching and the sweet compliment. To answer your question, I got the sugar pearls in the cake decorating section at Wal Mart. I know Michaels, and Joannes carry them too. :) ione eve
+Varatchaya S. Mills Hi Varatchaya ~ thank you for watching my video and the sweet compliment. I used a blended fragrance of mountain pine and juniper berry in this soap. I got the mountain pine scent from Peak and juniper berry from Brambleberry, then blended them myself. I hope this answers your question, and happy soaping! :) ione eve
+EvesGardenSoaps Thanks... I think I might have a hard time finding the exact fragrance... I didn't live in the state.. Do you have any suggestions for fragrance combination?
+Varatchaya S. Mills I would find a scent you like that doesn't cause the soap to set-up too fast. It doesn't need to be the same thing I did. I don't know what companies you have locally, or what online businesses would ship to you. You will need to research that yourself. When you find one, if you don't know what fragrances are nice, read the reviews and see what people think of them and how they act when making soap. Good luck! :)
Ione eve, you can do no wrong! If you were a gardener I'd say you have a green thumb. What can we come up with for a soaper???....bubble pinky? Thank you for sharing with us.
Hi Shelley ~ Haha! "bubble pinky" ~ Thank you for watching and the delightful comment. Believe me when I say, I've made many blooper soaps too. It is fun when they come out nice though. :) ione eve
I love your videos . You sound endearing and soo human when doing it. Anyway you dont give the measurements for your soap making . Just wondering if u can give the measurements for Strawberry fields and Cool water soap. Thank you for beautiful soap vids, michelle G
Hi Michelle ~ thank you for watching and the sweet compliments. You're very kind. While I don't share my exact recipes, if you are new to making soap I suggest Cathy McGinnis's Soaping 101 website. She has many recipes listed for private use. I'll leave a link for you. Best of luck in your soap-making endeavors! :) ione eve www.soaping101.com/soap-recipes.html
Hi Ann ~ thank you for watching! The color looks more blue in the video than in real life. I didn't use any mica for the silver, just activated charcoal and titanium dioxide mixed to light gray. It came out looking silver next to the gold. I ordered some white pearl mica that I'm using next time so it will have more sheen. Pewter should work nicely I would think! :) ione eve
Lovely soap and technique. Curious as to what you mean by 'superfat? Are these oils/butters you add after the lye water & original group of oils are mixed together? TIA
Becky Sarsfield Hi Becky ~ thank you for watching and the lovely comment. To answer your question, superfat is oil that doesn't turn into soap. It remains unsaponified as a moisturizer or emollient. This percentage is figured during the lye calculation. I hold the oils that I hope won't saponify and add last, but that doesn't always mean they're the ones chosen. I figure it can't hurt though, LOL! I hope this helps and happy soaping! :) ione eve
Thank you, Marta ~ I appreciate your kind compliment. All soap is made with lye. It's the chemical reaction between the oil molecule and lye molecule that make a soap molecule. Active lye molecules are not present at the end of the curing process. There may be oil molecules present if more oil is in the recipe than there is lye to change it. This is referred to as superfat. In handmade soap, glycerine (removed in manufactured soap) and superfat help moisturize skin. While I don't share my exact recipes, you can find very good ones at Soaping101.com and tutorials at SoapQueen.com. Happy soaping! :) ione eve
Hi Cheryl ~ thank you for watching my video. I appreciate it very much. To answer your question, glycerine rivers form during the gel process when the soap heats up. High superfat content and quantity of titanium dioxide are contributing factos. When I use all milk for liquid and/or a high volume of titanium dioxide for a white base, I always refrigerate the soap for at least 18 hours. This stops the gel process. The soap takes longer to set up, sometimes 72 hours, but it's the only way to be assured of no glycerine rivers. I hope this helps, and happy soaping! :) ione eve
Hi Kimberly ~ Thank you for watching my video! To answer your question. The little balls are sugar balls, for baking. They work great for decorations on top of soap. They eventually dissolve, but last for a little while. :) ione
Thank you for the nice compliment. :) I get titanium dioxide (oil soluble) from Brambleberry.com. I also buy my colors from them. Happy soaping! :) ione eve
Your soaps are so superior that I want to view every one of your videos. You thoughts are organized, and your videos are a pleasure to listen to. So do you mix the titanium dioxide with oil and not water?
Thank you for the thoughtful compliments. :) I do mix the titanium dioxide with extra light olive oil - 1 part TD to 5 parts oil. I usually make a large quantity and use a stick blender to do the job. A frother would work for smaller quantities. TD can be hard to get thoroughly mixed, but little white spots will show in the soap if it's not mixed up well. After the initial mixing, a good shake of the squeeze bottle before using is all that is needed. Good luck and happy soaping!
Beautiful! I have never seen silver in a soap before. The gold and silver definitely says "holiday"! Thank you for sharing! xoxo
+Susan King Thank you for the sweet comment, Susan! :) ione eve
Magnificent! My goodness your soaps are such beautiful artwork!
I love the clock ticking in the background!
:) ione
You are welcome! I find the ticking relaxing vs..music...❤️❤️❤️
I love how that turned out!
so pretty! You are the neatest soap maker! My table always is such a mess! I am inspired to be neater!
Hi Marcy ~ Thank you for watching my video and the lovely compliment. I've had my share of soap spills and splatters, believe me. Don't be so hard on yourself. Although I try to keep the mess off camera, I still have to clean it all up. My least favorite part of soap making, LOL! :) ione eve
