Gail, you are so charming that you make these videos worth watching even though I know there's no way I'm going to afford a $300 coffee maker.
I love your reviews. One of the few reviewers I don't find myself fast forwarding through. You're funny and intelligent. I've bought two units from your reviews. Thanks from Canada. ❤️
Gail, I love all of your reviews, they are thorough and informative with a little of your humor on the side! Thanks so much!
Great coffee, I bought a small keyboard vacuum to clean the grinder.
I got one of these from Seattle Coffee Gear; very very happy with the product.
This lady is the best, love her
Love mine. Love the customization for brew strength and cup size.
Perfect machine from the most amazing company, I prefer espresso myself but was thinking a machine like this might be better for coffee after dinner. Great review on how the machine works.
Subscribe to our channel if you love coffee as much as we do! goo.gl/hRKEhR
Nice review! Ordered one just now.

Nice machine. I wish the form factor was smaller. I know due to the nature of having a built-in grinder it would be difficult.
Your pretty cool! Tks for the video! : )
Thanks! Great Video
Makes best tasting coffee but is prone to break. Love this coffee maker and its gobs of useful functions and settings while it worked for a year, but sadly mine broke just a few days after expiration of warranty. One of the common issue with this coffee maker is the rotor motor getting stuck apparently due to a sensor prone to give up after a while of use, subsequently persistently failing to work with a 001 error. Suggests before purchase for one to do a due diligence of visiting forums and feed back comments.
I love this video! thank you, madam.
Hi thank you for the informative video. Do you know what the little flap on the filter basket is used for? I can't find anything on it in the manual
I would love it if you guys made a video of it brewing in single cup mode, I can't find one anywhere. I've read that it works as an immersion dripper in single cup mode (like a Clever or the porcelain Bonavita) - so it should make a very different cup then when it's brewing into the carafe. A comparison between the two cups would be great too! Pretty please!
+MixyDoodle You got it!
Any chance you can advise on this machine versus the breville precision brewer? I know that rotor need a grinder to be purchased too.
the calibration feature is the coolest thing (and making me want to upgrade from the YouBrew). It'll grind a set amount that you weigh and adjust the calibration to ensure the precise amount for each bean type.
I've been super happy with the YouBrew for about 4 years now (still works great BTW). I'm desperately trying to justify the upgrade to my wife :)
Calibration is great, but I think the biggest upgrade is the control of the grind coarseness in my opinion. That makes a much bigger difference in the cup, compared to a few grams difference due to calibration being off, especially if you brew a whole pot.
Hi Gail
Do you need to change strength level depending on the cup size? Because when I brewed a 450ml cup size with strength set at 3 it was very light. But is okay with a 295ml cup size.
Thanks
you are the best, thank you
Breville Grind Control vs Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind & Brew please!
can you run the grindz through this machine to clean the bur grinder? just Wondering.
I’m having a lot of static cling with this machine. Did you experience the same issue? And should it be concerning?
@Gail, can we grind coffee in breville grind control for a cold brew with takeya cold brew maker
How does this grinder compare to a stand alone grinder as far as consistency and grind quality? I’m always afraid that all in one machines don’t give a good grind. Sorry if this was already asked.
We had a grinder/brewer many years ago but the cleaning in between brews was terrible. What is this one like
Very Good! I'm Buying One!
+Giuseppe Di Marco Lucky! Enjoy it! Let us know what you think about it after you use it: www.seattlecoffeegear.com/breville-grind-control-coffee-maker
Can you do all product videos? ;) Thank you!
What about cleanup? The filter-basket contraption looks like it would be a nuisance to wash. Does the top come off the filter basket so that both parts can go in the dishwasher? What about the carafe? Does it go into the dishwasher? I've also seen comments that the grinder chute gets clogged up. How hard is that to clean and how often do you need to do it?
Gail can you help me please my breville grind control doesn’t count the cups now is stop in the 9 cup I don’t Know if have solutions please give some idea tks
is there anything else like this of the same caliber?
when i pour the water in the red filler level goes up to 12 cups says full on the screen it shows 9 cups has anyone had the same issue and how can i fix it
How can I improve the Temp of the Coffee ? Its Not Hot
also is there another carafe we can buy that is built better for his same machine
Good afternoon Gail! We loved the review of this awesome machine!
Could you compare this model to the Technivorm and Bonavita brewers? taste test, temp test, etc.?
+Matthew Trego You got it! ;)
+Seattle Coffee Gear You guys are great!
Ya please I have the Bonavita 5 cup and would interested in a comparison too.
Im interested in buying this, but why such low ratings?? (3.7/5)
When setting how much you want to brew, do you need that exact amount of water in it? In other words, if I fill it and only want 2 cups, will I only get 2 cups?
to get 2 cups you need to set it 6 cups cuz it brews up to 5.0z cups
I am experiencing an issue with my coffee maker where the filtration process is ineffective. Upon brewing, the coffee grounds remain trapped in the filter, preventing the extraction of brewed coffee. Could you please provide guidance on how to address this issue?
Can you or anyone help me.
Hi Gail I do have the Breville with grinder I have bought every single brand coffee bean in the market for some reason I don’t get a good cup of coffee they all taste the same.. please HELP!!!
Hello, I'm a Keurig guy (I know, I know) and looking to switch but would still like convenience if at all possible. I'm torn between the Oxo On 9 cup and the Breville grind control. The grind control price isn't an issue considering I would need a grinder to go with the Oxo anyway. I have read some negative reviews on the Breville which stinks because having an all in one that works great would be heaven for me. What is your opinion between those two systems? Much appreciated and great channel!
+cpro48609 Thanks for watching! Both are great machines, but suited for a different individual. The Breville all in one approach makes it easy. But for the price you are stuck with the one brewing method, drip. Going with the OXO and a good burr grinder gives you the option to try other brewing methods (cold brew for the summer?). It may cost a little more up front but is a great way to experiment with your brew. Hope this helps in your search!
+Seattle Coffee Gear Thanks for the response. I like reg coffee brewed over ice as well as real cold brew so it's not that much of an issue for me. I did however notice the Moccamaster which looks like a better quality Oxo. Decisions, decisions lol.
+cpro48609 So many decisions. The Technivorm also comes with a great warranty, 5 years. Let us know if you have any other questions! You can also give us a call here: 866-372-4734 Cheers!
It shows 8oz for the 1 cup but it only produces 5.5 - 6oz, I know that a cup of liquid is 8oz but a cup of Coffee is really 6oz, is it just taking 8oz of water and with the output because of the grinds bringing it just down to 6?
I have to say that the brew basket looks pretty small for 60oz capacity of the carafe. How many grams of coffee does the basket hold without overflowing ?
how big is the carafe opening for cleaning ? a large hand can get in there fairly easily ?
A hand cannot fit in the carafe opening. You would have to use a bottle brush if some sort.
I have a guess, but I should ask: does this dose the water as well? like if I filled up the reservoir all the way to 60 but then I decided I wanted just 2 cups right now could I do that?
+Scott Heinowski It sure does! Breville recommends always having a full tank of water before you begin the brew process :)
any way to program it for morn brew and make coffee WITHOUT grinding?
Yes. User can set machine to brew with "preground" coffee. That designation shuts down the grinder.
How does this compare to a bonavita + separate grinder as far as performance, space, and price is concerned?
+Omnis Both brew a great cup of coffee. Benefits for this guy is the all in one functionality. Auto on is a huge plus. Space wise, the bonavita + a grinder would be easier on the counter space. But of course this depends on the grinder you choose. Hope that helps!
Hello, would you show me how to make the coffee stronger. I like stronger coffee please
If you want stronger coffee you should look into getting à espresso machine
Do you guys find the coffee hotter than the youbrew? I believe they made some changes to the heating elements. Really wondering if it's worth retiring my 4 year-old YouBrew?
+BananaChipzzz If you are wanting a hotter final cup, pre warming both the carafe and your cup will help with this. The Grind Control brews the coffee at an optimal temperature, so making the heat last as long as possible is what you should be aiming for. Do you pre heat your YouBrew?
+Seattle Coffee Gear I do prewarm, and it's decent. I just read that they improves the heating elements and thus improved the temps.
Just a note that that strategy doesn't work if you program to run before you get up in the morning. As I said elsewhere, that's why I went with the glass YouBrew.
What keeps this coffee maker from getting certified by the SCAA?
I'm guessing water brewing temperature is one. It's a weakness of all these. That said, I've used my YouBrew almost daily for around 3 years and it's been almost flawless, except for the temperature of the coffee. But I went with the glass carafe since I program it to go off in the morning and I wouldn't be up yet to prewarm a thermal carafe. The glass carafe unit has a base heater.
Great videos! Would it be possible to get a temperature reading of the coffee in the carafe? I'm surprised you don't already do this.
can this brew espresso?
+matrixx29 This is a drip brewer. Check out our espresso machines here: www.seattlecoffeegear.com/espresso-machines
What about cleaning
how to brew your own grinded coffee in bdc650bss breville, I did not find any settings in the menu to be able to switch
if only it cleaned its own filter!
That would laziness!
I sure do miss Gail!
No heating pad?
No, although the carafe itself keeps the coffee nice and hot for up to at least 24 hours!
I've got a question, when I brew my coffee I've noticed the bottom part of the carafe gets really hot. Is it just the coffee or breville has a heating element underneath ?
I thought it doesn't have one as you say but the ring gets hotter than the carafe.
Gale has a bit of Clint Eastwood look going on.
Hopper looks too small. You would have to add beans all the time. Where do you add the water--that wasn't shown.
It is an 8 ounce bean hopper, so you can brew at least 2 full pots. The water is added in the front of the bean hopper- a lid covers the hole.
Yes, saw where the water goes in another video. Thanks much!!!
And after 1 year main is broken. Kod 001
It's not as loud as youbrew
+diva d Agreed!
I thought this was a you brew?
+Jay Nguyen It's the next generation of the YouBrew! With all the upgrades to the grinder, Breville decided it needed a new name!
+Jay Nguyen I dont think particularly your a good listener
Jonathan Rarebit ?
CHURCH SOCIALS lmao
It is now the year 2020 and this coffee maker is no longer available.
I just ordered one yesterday off Amazon.
@@dtskicks I ordered a Mocha Master from Technivorm. No regrets. Best tasting, simple brewer.
@@bbrachman still working? Any 001 error? Issues. I'm looking for a grand and drip coffee maker but worry about the low reviews and errors people are having..
This thing is a nightmare
Over the past 14 months Breville has sent me 3 of these units....the first two had serious problems. The one I have now has been working well for 8 months now. Two weeks ago it stopped grinding. I contacted Breville for help. I spoke to an agent named Sondra. She was so kind, she sent me a new upper grinder and stated that if this doesn't work we will ship the unit back for repair or replacement. The part arrived and didn't change. This time it took leaving 4 phone messages for anyone to call me back to set up a return. The man I spoke with informed me that the unit was out of warrenty by 30 days but they would be happy to fix the unit for $145. I was so upset. I asked him to look back over the records and see all the problems we had with the maker. He said there was nothing he could do, that if I wanted it fixed it would cost $145.
Be careful if you choose to buy a Breville product. They do not support their products. This maker should have lasted more than 14 months. For the cost I paid for this it should have lasted for many many years. @breville #breville #brevillecoffeemaker
