Very impressive that she took the big leap from working a steady job at NHK to learning and mastering a brand new (to her) skill . And the sensei does look to be a kind and gentle man . Enjoyed this very much .
I've travelled to Japan and became intrigued or rather obsessed with Netsuke artwork. As a wood carver I decided to attempt to learn this most beautiful art form. Sadly. With absolute humility, I am so far from close to feeling any amount of the success I've strived for...yet! I'm old and my hands ache and yet because of the tremendous beauty of traditional Netsuke I work everyday on my humble little Netsuke. I only wish I had started to learn this art form when I was young . Now, being 76 I work voraciously to try to do the best I can. Please enjoy the carvings of the Japanese Netsuke carvers as I do. Truly an inspiring practice of living the moment. An attainment to a peaceful soul and a cultured art of a spirit of acknowledging the beauty of life that we are part of.
I have always admired the little Netsuke.. so delicate and so beautiful.. what dedication you have.. it is a pleasure to watch just this tiny portion of your most excellent work.. thank you.
I am humbled by Ms. Kajiura delicate carving of her Netsuke. She quit her job at NHK to study under a Master carver and my opinion is her work is very exquisite and beautiful. If I were a young man I'd wish to study under her knowledge. I strive everyday to carve Netsuke style and yet I will never achieve where I wish to be. Great work!!

Vaya!! 😍😘✌🏼😄
@@WoodworkingEnthusiasts ,we miss woodworking and handcradts and arts in general ,because of cheap industries and facke ,bad monuments ,,so when we see arts and traditional handworkings ,we feel that the humanity still going in the original path of natural arts
In traditional Netsuke the craftsman ALWAYS left a tiny flaw in each and every one. It was considered an affront to the gods to make something "perfect".
Amazing, and for some reason this video was recommended 1 day after I just received 76 carving chisels. Strange how I get adds and video recommended, not only by my searches, but also what I talked about around my phone. Don’t you just “love” technology
Hello there, I like that too.... great idea to show where and what is the minimum place to get for your art. Otherwise can you give advice about where to get specialized tools as your special shaped knives. I know mishihamono in Tokyo but then they are not proposing all shape. Can you help please with some information hard to get if you're not Japanese. Arigato gozaimasu
I'm not gonna lie, I thought the girl was pretty right from the start but as soon as they said she gave up her NHK gig to apprentice with the guy, instant crush!
Matt Wiechers .....so, what your saying is, since she “gave up” being a self-centered do what i say and go where i tell you and wear what i tell you and smile to the crowd all day whether you feel like it or not if you want to stay in this gig, or do something she feels is very heartfelt and cultural dear to her heart and very satisfying and rewarding to “herself”. Hmmmmm, are you really thinking your statement, as a normal male, somehow makes you look/sound as if you’re “really with it” and that all women will read your comment and think wonderful thoughts of you. I was just wondering, it crossed my mind. Maybe you forget women have intuition, we don’t. Don’t take this personal tho.
Robert Langley well aren’t you such the chivalrous, defender of women’s dignity, hero type guy. The guy was just complementing her looks and virtue. Please remove the judgmental and critical self righteous stick that’s up your ass. And have a nice day pops!🥳🥰
Wow it took two weeks just to carve that mouse in a ball?? Sure wouldn't have thought it would take that long Enjoyed your video and gave it a Thumbs Up
Next year I will remodel my garden. There are three rather large boxwood trees in it, all over 30 years old. Now that I know, that its wood is regarded as jewel wood, I won't simply discard it as planned, but rather keep it and use my Dremel on it. Let's see what comes out of it ...
Your channel has wonderful & informative videos. Just so you now at 2.31 in the video the word is NASU, not Cashew (although they do rhyme!). NASU means Eggplant, which is what the Netsuke is representing. NASU also means complete, as in something's been achieved or you've succeeded.
Though it is written ne-tsu-ke, the 'u' sound in the middle is often dropped/silent. If I were you, I would worry about avoiding 'kay' as in 'cane' or 'okay'. It should soud like 'ke' as in 'kettle' or 'chemical'.
I'm very sorry, but the word Netsuke is pronounced Net-ski not Netsooka I have studied this artwork for many years but, still not pleased with my designs like the Masters of Japan.
Press alive button, and learn from her it. Who one memorize, practising day to day on extensively, then never die that/this culture. Can you do that after to her?
