@@SirJamesIGamerfuzion its a design flaw, and a pretty big one for 50 bucks, hell the way it rattles all over, even the look of it sucks, it's a great idea but an awful execution for 50 bucks...

Personally I agree with the other comments which say that you shouldn't have to be opening up a new device whatever it is to fix an obvious design fault, take it back or let em know that at the price it's unacceptable.
@@SirJamesIGamerfuzion and the point is that you shouldn't, if enough people take em back, or email Disney to voice complain it will change, if you bought a car and had to get underneath it to fix something that you reasonably should expect to be right from the start, you would rightly be pissed, same here, all of the videos I've seen of these they look very cheaply made, but retail at a significant price, you're entitled to expect a better product.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT, PLEASE UPVOTE FOR OTHERS: If the ring is in place and it's still not working, make sure the top of the holocron is popped back on so that the crystal compartment is FACING that ring. When I opened mine up, I discovered that they had somehow inserted the top part UPSIDE DOWN so that it could not read the crystal. See 3:12: the crystal compartment should face DOWN toward the ring, with the two weird nubs on the back of the compartment facing UP so that they align with those weird columns you see on the screen. It might be difficult for the white wire to reach back to its place from this position, but it's possible and necessary to get the holocron to work.
will you do a video on fixing a sith holocron (i have one that will read crystals but will not play the audio but still plays the defaul audio when the sides are touched)?
My daughter's Jedi one will make the sound and light up, but no audio. He said it could be something wrong with the audio file. No way of fixing it unless you can get it exchanged if you visit the park frequently or calling Disney customer support.
Hey the corner of my Jedi holocron clicked out of sync with the others. So when you close them all are flat and one is still turned out. Any idea how to set it back in sync with the others. It made a audible click when I closed it and it shifted one of the corners out of wack. Thanks.
Hello, Is it possible to investigate and show how to fix the speaker? Mine vibrates causing a bit of distortion when playing audio. Perhaps even lowering the volume?
So I opened my hologcron and the copper medallion was still glued in place (I had a blue power wire BTW) so I started to inspect the board... now aside from the two lights that were supposed to be bent, I did have two strange things that seemed out of place. There was a black square that was almost bent in half and I gently put that upright. There are also copper circles on two sides with wires coming out of them, one of the them had been peeled away from the siding and that was fixed. I screwed in the holocron and it worked for my red crystal at least. Strange... shoddy board work for such an expensive item!
wow... I was right... I knew there had to be some electronical black magic to do that... this has to be how the saber knows how to change the color and sounds
NFC, there is a microchip in the kiber crystal. The ring induces the power in the microchip and also allow to communicate with it, using magnetic field.
Hi SirJames - I hope you might have an insight into what my Holocron is doing. It seems to read crystals, or even the default message from Obi-Wan, without issue, but when I try to play a message, it only plays the first half of the quote and then goes back into standby mode. Any idea what might be causing this?
My ring was correctly placed when I opened it (no tape needed), but after putting it back together it worked. Perhaps the wire was loose and, in putting back together, it made the fix?
so I have a Sith Holocron, don't judge me, it doesn't want to play voices for some reason it changes colour properly and sound but I can't get it to speak have you heard of any fixes for this one?
Ik this video was posted 3 years ago buut I just got my Sith Holocron and the same thing is happening. It’s not reading the kyber crystals. Do you think you could make a video explaining the same thing but with a sith holocron?

This was a very good video, very helpful and generous of you to offer people your help.
