The four major trauma responses are fight, flight, fawn, and freeze. Michael fights (even with himself), Michelle runs away to New York, Natalie tries to make sure everyone is okay, and Carmen freezes up and disassociates. The entire family is a personification of trauma, both cause and effect.
A case study of adult children with a narcissist alcoholic mother. Amazing that the least stressful scene is Richie and Tiff. Happy Holidays! Also Jamie Lee Curtis and John Berenthal won Best Guest Star actor Emmys for this episode and Christopher Storer got the writers emmy for this episode last week at the awards show.
a Chicago holiday dinner without atleast 3 fights is considered a dull affair. lol you guys survived! this is a Bear right of passage...you guys are officially Berzattos!
No, you guys misheard what he said. Stevie said that NOBODY’S physically sick, meaning that he knows that there is mental illness issues with some of the family members.
Oh Lord... Here we go with this episode. I remember being sat on my comfy chair just staring at the TV screen as the end credits rolled. Every cast member brought their A game with this episode. It also opens your eyes as to how the siblings ended up being so damaged. Michael the oldest had to step up as the family man and sadly struggled because of which couldn't cope, Natalie being the middle child and only daughter could never get her mother's approval thus her constant need to act as the saviour and Carmen the youngest has seen his older siblings suffer so much and their trauma that he avoids any confrontation or actually trying to cope with his own troubles. Also, that mother is just a classic example of someone who should NOT have been a parent. Every time, Shei kept saying "something about to happen..." I was like girl, just you watch. I also think Natalie's expression at the end is more to Carmy, her telling him "I understand now why you didn't and don't want to come back home". Rewatching with you both though I've come to my conclusion... I can't stand the Faks 😂😂😂
I liked your comment when Richie and wife said Carmy was weird. Hum, EVERYONE in that family is! I actually think one of Carmy’s issues is his family dumps on him rather than supporting him.
Everyone watches this episode and wants to step away from this show for a bit. I get it. But please don't. You'll thank yourself later for watching the next episode as soon as possible.
You guys talk too much over the conversations in the show. You’re missing important characterization, when you could save your rambling for the reaction.
Save "rambling" for the reaction? The "rambling" is the reaction. it's our honest and candid thought "out loud" related to what we just saw. The review after is our discussion to expound upon that further. We watch how we watch. Hope you can respect that. If not, that's totally cool. We're just not your cup of tea. No worries. Thanks for the comment/engagement! 😁
