I don’t think you realize how much of a gem you are. Your book reviews are stellar!!! The eloquence you have to describe your thoughts and feelings after reading each book, is incredible. I value your opinions and I’ve been binging all your vids. You’re my favorite person in the whole book-tube world. Thank you for your time 💕
Idk why but the fact that we have very diff reading tastes, and that I will most likely not read the majority of the books u have, makes your vids even more riveting (although i have read a couple of weird ass books that i would have otherwise not have even thrown a glance at cuz of ur vids and I have throughly enjoyed them all) hats off to u Lord Frankie EDIT: the one direction note TOOK ME OUT
Just finished rabbits for food and came back to your review: I agree with what you said about being surprised that Bunny was dressing up so femininely, your analysis on that has really made me thing. That would be an awesome essay
Dying to get my grubby mitts on The Mustache. So glad you loved Come Closer. The sequence where she's alone at the train station at night and a man approaches her is still one of my favorite things I've ever ever read.
If you're looking for more novels about people unraveling I highly suggest: New Animal by Ella Baxter - a mortuary technician unravels while refusing to deal with her grief. Get VERY weird but is also so fucking beautiful. The Pallbearers Club by Paul Tremblay - hard to describe without giving away too much. The book is a manuscript of the Protagonist and a friend from his youth has found the manuscript and is writing in the margins of it. The ending had me sobbing uncontrollably. Bad Fruit by Ella King - A young woman comes to term with the dysfunction in her family. Some incredibly heavy stuff happens in those books so I recommend looking up trigger warnings before reading them.
I love watching you yapping about books I feel like I'm talking to a freind about books we read cause you talk about it in details ( I don't have a lot of freinds with the same taste as me so I don't talk about my books to them so I feel comfortuble when I watch your videos )
Your voice- holy shit. Like butter. No, like a cinnabon. And you look like a Frankie! Ok sorry...onto something non superficial: you are delightful. I've found several books that I've loved due to your recs- thank you!! You are talented at describing plot/themes/characters
come closer is one of my favorite novels of all time, i'm so glad to hear someone talking about it. though i disagree with it not fitting in with the theme. i can't exactly explain why, because i do think it largely has to do with my personal experience with the book, and how the first time i read it i was really Going Thru It, and it was equal parts cathartic and terrifying to me. the release of giving into the worst aspects of yourself or something, idk. either way, it's such an awesome read.
I recently read a YA novel called Wintergirls that depicts how all consuming an eating disorder is for the sufferer. Includes experimentation with font and page formating in several ways which I think will give you something to talk about
not a book recommendation, but I think you might enjoy the series The Curse by Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie. it has very uncanny vibes and a very unique tone and vibe. it's definitely not for everyone, it has some really awkward, uncomfortable moments and some very dry and weird humour, but it has a LOT to say about it's themes. I won't spoil anything but the last episode is insane in the best way!
I read Monstrilio because of your videos and I cried in public, because I was at a coffee shop when I finished it. It was exactly what I needed. I love your channel ❤
Hey. I am into a thought study program right now. Your videos are what relaxes me the most. I love reading but I don't get the time to read quite as much since I entered this universitarian year.
My favorite book about someone losing their grip on reality is The Pigeon by Patrick Suskind (author of The Perfume). Highly recommend, and of course this was a great video as always!
Yikes! I didn't realize these were full summaries of the books. I had to stop at the first one so the others were not spoiled. I do appreciate the rest of your content though.
yay needed this today! (btw curious what you’ll think of stephen benatars ”wish her safe at home” I’ve yet to read it myself but intend to! it’s about a spinster who’s nuts and retires to a mansion and it sounds so good)
I’ve been wanting to read the mustache for a while but I can’t get my hands on it! It’s not on Libby at my local library and it’s not on Spotify audiobooks either :/ but I don’t usually like to buy physical books
UNRAVELLING CHARACTER REC: Iodine by Haven Kimmel. The main character, Ianthe/Trace writes from two perspectives (unknowingly,) but that's the least of her issues. This book haunts me -- has haunted me for almost two decades -- and I'd love to see what you think.
Ok I know u don’t mention it in this video but I recently watched a movie called welcome to me that feels very similar to how you describe One’s Company. The movie came out in 2015 so I kinda wonder if the author watched it or knew of it.
idk where else to suggest this but i love your videos and we both enjoy a lot of the same lit fic so i wanted to tell you to please put PARADISE LOGIC by sophie kemp on your radar if it isn't already!!!! i got to read an early copy and it was truly Something and i would love to hear your thoughts on it
Would Annihilation count as a book where the main character unravels? I just read it (and subsequently the next two books in the series) and it was so good and reminds me of this prompt
I know it's a really popular book, and not exactly about unraveling chracters, but have you checked out "Annie Bot"? I couldn't put it down. In a way it's about female empowerment. Kind of reminds me of themes in Frankenstein, and you liked that book
Everytime you talk about how much you hate books about food, I feel the strong need to know what would you think about Like water for chocolate by Laura Esquivel
I HATED Come Closer - there was no tension at all because you knew from the start that it was possession. The author's problematic (racist and homophobic) beliefs just made it all the worse.
I feel like I’m about to unravel
right? It’s like ‘unraveling’ is the newest ‘resting state’ in 2025.
Crying laughing while making breakfast at the single one direction note
I love the mustache literally being that one meme “on a good day: bitches love my mustache. On a bad day: This time I’m really gonna do it”
actually laughed out loud at the single chord after you said “one direction” (14:27)
14:18 thought i imagined the sound and had to replay to make sure i wasnt crazy😭
guys wake up new frankie’s shelf just dropped
i saw ‘the moustache’ at a flee market at the start of the year and now i’m kicking myself for not getting it, you make it sound so intriguing!!!

MY SHOW IS ON!!!
This video will now become the one I rewatch obsessively for the next few weeks thank you very much

That single One Direction note? Perfect editing, no notes. This is exactly the content people yearn for.
Your content is so important to me omg thank you for starting this
I absolutely LOVE these spoiler videos! So interesting!!

The one direction gag SLAYED ME
You have very quickly became one of my favorite RUclipsrs :)

love these longer videos you articulate your thoughts so well !
okay let's go this is my favorite type of book
Thank you for blessing us with these long videos. You're too good to us
we love you frankie!!

we need a video reading book after book about food until you find one that isn't bad
Cream puff tower😂. I would say the same thing, nobody will be catching me butchering French words

I just bought a copy and can’t wait to devour it!!

can't wait to watch this, you always have such great reviews and thoughts on books
thank you ❤️❤️
You should make a video about your favorite non fiction books!!
Yikes! I didn't realize these were full summaries of the books. I had to stop at the first one so the others were not spoiled. I do appreciate the rest of your content though.
Definitely recommend Wellness by Nathan Hill; literally has a chapter called The Unraveling haha
Love these videos, keep up the amazing work!
recomendations: The tunnel by Ernesto Sabato and Thérèse Raquin by Émile Zola
this is brilliant (i am also about to unravel and i need books about it)
Berlin by Bea Setton!!!! (Also the movie adaptation of the moustache is great)
oooooh, fever dream by samanta schweblin, the listeners by jordan tannahil, or grey dog by elliot gish!!
Ive been waiting you Frankie!! thx for the recommendation of nice books as always.❤
Killing Johnny Fry by Walter Mosley had an absolute chokehold on me. Highly recommend
yay needed this today!
It’s not on Libby at my local library and it’s not on Spotify audiobooks either :/ but I don’t usually like to buy physical books
i couldn’t find it anywhere either!! i looked for almost a year and then i had to ask for it for christmas lol

ahh I LOVE The Moustache 🙏🏻
A great addition to this category is Deliver Me by Elle Nash!
what kind of microphone do you use ? i love how you sound
Ok I know u don’t mention it in this video but I recently watched a movie called welcome to me that feels very similar to how you describe One’s Company. The movie came out in 2015 so I kinda wonder if the author watched it or knew of it.
Yayyyy!! Another long video

Quick question before I continue with the video, does it contain spoilers? Because two of those I have on my tbr.
the summary sections absolutely do
@ Thank you! I’ll come back and watch once I read them. Love your reviews! 🫶🏻
47:19 sounds like frankie’s unraveling 😭 lottie? HATTIE? LOTTIE.
The author of the mustache book deserves awards what a quirky idea I definitely am going to read it 😂🫶
Would Annihilation count as a book where the main character unravels? I just read it (and subsequently the next two books in the series) and it was so good and reminds me of this prompt
I would say so; each book has a different protagonist that unravels in a sense (but i haven’t read the last one yet!)
I know it's a really popular book, and not exactly about unraveling chracters, but have you checked out "Annie Bot"? I couldn't put it down. In a way it's about female empowerment. Kind of reminds me of themes in Frankenstein, and you liked that book
hattie lazell is killing me
Before I start, are your summaries spoiler filled or spoiler free? Thanks!
100% spoiler filled !! but the summaries are marked in the chapters, the other sections shouldn’t have spoilers
@ thank you!! 🙌🏻😅
yay I’m early! come closer was so bad I thought I was being punked
Relatable
i thought it was fun…. lmao
Afternoon Frankie , hope your well :)
Hi Frankie, I'm in Europe and it's dinner time now.
The only book I know is piglet and my prediction is you didn't like it, now let's see if I was right 🤞😅
Everytime you talk about how much you hate books about food, I feel the strong need to know what would you think about Like water for chocolate by Laura Esquivel
frankie i have a book that fits this theme that you may like… hidden camera by zoran živković! it has stuck with me for ages!!
YESSSSS
I did not know i liked full spoiler videos before today !
The Moustache goes absolutely nowhere. That's the problem with 'going crazy' novels. You hit a brick wall.
Read More Now Again by Elizabeth Wurtzel especially if you like fucked up women.
I HATED Come Closer - there was no tension at all because you knew from the start that it was possession. The author's problematic (racist and homophobic) beliefs just made it all the worse.
nothing but respect for the 1D cameo 🫡
