  • I was asked to do a review of the Mintion Lasercam. It's the third Lightburn camera I have looked at and easily my favorite. It does so much more than the others. I hope you will find this interesting!

    Good to see you, Gord! This looks like a great addition to that style of laser. You sure did learn all the capabilities and passed your knowledge on to us viewers as only you can. Clear and concise! Well done, my friend! Looking forward to whatever adventures you have for us next time! 😀

      Much obliged, Phil. Thank you for the kind words! I like this Lightburn camera very much. It sure has a lot more features than the other ones I have used. Thanks for watching, buddy. Take care of yourself!
      All the best,

      Thank you kindly, Jay. It's good to be doing "anything" in the shop. I get very bored sitting around feeling sorry for myself!! I hope you and your ladies are doing well, buddy!
      Take care,

    Great to see you in front (behind) the camera again. You have a gift for passing on skills and experience, even in the age of lasers and apps. I will be looking at adding this type of tool to my laser. It's a pain lining up the material manually, especially on the bottom of a turned bowl.
    Thanks again!

    Good to see you back Gord! Pretty cool set-up. Looks more complicated than you showed it is! Thanks for sharing. Great tip on the zip ties too.

      Thank you, Dave. It is good to be back in the shop. Not as much fun as Woodturning but at least I’m in the shop. I hope to be back to Woodturning before too long.

    Interesting video and a piece of equipment that could be very well used in a shop when you are busy with other jobs elsewhere! It is nice to see you back in your shop and I hope some lathe work is coming soon, thanks Gord and take care!
    Cheers Al

      Very true! It will be nice to not have to stand over the laser engraver as it is doing a project. I hope to be back at the lathe soon, Al. Thanks for the kind words!

    Hi, Gord. Interesting piece of equipment but not something I am ready to get into just yet. I still have my plate full just getting the new shop organized. I cannot believe I have been in the shop for almost 6 months and still have boxes remaining to be unpacked. Still, thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

      That’s got to be a lot of boxes, Glen. Sounds like a lot of work you have to do, my friend. I bet you are looking forward to the day when you can start doing some actual woodturning.
      Stay well,

    what network do you need to connect? Mine won't scan the QR code for either 2.4 or 5gHz networks. I've tried so many times and I'm about to send it back because it won't connect. any insight?

    • @GordonRock1
      @GordonRock1  2 месяца назад

      I'm not sure which network I'm using. I have both as well and had no problem connecting. You might want to contact Mintion support to find out what to do. Sorry I'm not more help!!

    That's a neat piece of equipment. Does the flame detector only provide an audible signal or will it shut off the laser in the event a flame is sensed? It seems to me this would provide a false sense of security since a flame could rapidly grow. What did I miss here to think this?

    • @GordonRock1
      @GordonRock1  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, it does shut off the lathe and move it out of the way, John. I must say it takes a little longer to accomplish this than I would like; about 27 seconds. I believe they are working on shortening that time. It also sends out an audible signal.
      Take care,

    Isn't the trouble with this that once you alter the level diode head then everything is out of alignment with the camera. With the K40 it works well as the distance from the camera to the cutting focus point is always the same (you have to raise or lower the object to get it in focus), but with a diode laser if you move the head up or down to focus (like my new elegoo Phecda) all the calibrations you set up in lightburn are now incorrect. The only way to be on target all the time is to raise or lower the item.

      Yes, that can be a concern. There is always something to deal with but things are being improved all the time.

    HELP I'm running an Xtool D1 and the blue cable for the Mintion has nowhere to connect on my D1, There's only 1 slot on the D1 and it goes to my laptop, there's nowhere to connect the blue cable to the D1. Did I buy the wrong camera?

    • @GordonRock1
      @GordonRock1  5 дней назад

      Karla, I believe you need to get what is known as a HUB. This is an electronic device that allows the USB signal to be sent to more than one other device. Be sure to purchase a powered unit as they will generate a stronger signal. I hope this helps!
