    Whatever the club's eventual plans are, they have to address the area around the ground. It needs some TLC big-time. Spend a few quid on the immediate surroundings. Consider it an investment. I know LFC do loads in the community, I've been involved in one myself. The area around the ground needs a face-lift. Everyone that loves the club knows it's the right thing to do. Great video as always. Stay safe lad 👍

    From engineering perspective, those boarded-up houses may need to go for KOP expansion alone (and the closed businesses along and, sadly but likely the Church and more). Because if the road behind the KOP is still where it is now, no expansion is happening. My educated guess is that the very first phase will be road relocation starting from the end of the boarded houses, passing through what is now the back of the Church and re-joining the old route about the place where you started the video. Only then there is capacity to expand and space to do the work on it.

    • @Sobbayi
      @Sobbayi 3 месяца назад +3

      The road can be excavated and turned into an underpass. that will open up the space.

    I've been saying for a couple of years that Walton Breck Road is going to be diverted. It's fairly obvious from the buildings that are being bought and boarded up. The church and the pub will need to be moved but once they have been moved (possibly onto the hotel site?) the road can easily be diverted to create a large site for The Kop to be expanded.

  • @andrewwaine2394
    @andrewwaine2394 4 месяца назад +2

    Just guessing but walton beck road is so busy
    I would think the first step is to construct re routing that road
    In the end it still goes past the new Kop stand but in a different path taken
    Those houses in the video being demolished along with the church and the two pubs
    Would give an opportunity to build such road that can always be in place and active during the Kop expansion and onwards
    I actually think if they did get the go ahead to go bigger , expended and possibly wider , the club shop then gets in the way of a bigger stand.
    The Kop and its list of issues needed to happen first actually is the most straight forward stand to do
    Re home church and two pubs
    Re route the main round around the outer limit of a new stand

    Whatever work done to the kop will be done just like the main stand and the Anfield Road stand.
    The stand will stay in use whilst they build the new bits behind it.
    Obviously, the re-arranging of the road and infrastructure will happen first.
    Likely date of an enlarged Kop being ready for use: 2030 at the earliest. IMO.

    Forget the houses the main issue is the roads, which ones are owned by the council or managed by the Highways Agency? That is the key issue in terms of transport links. Any development will include an impact on or loss of a road, that therefore includes many levels of local and/or national government.

    Great video as always 👍🏼 with regards to the Kop expansion with the space an Walton Breck Road they could take it out over the road have a tunnel like at villa park where the stand goes over the road with out disruptions or re-routing it but this is only my opinion, also what do the residents say about it all cause they weren’t happy when the main stand was being done that could be another problem with the expansion the club needs to keep them happy as well

    As a fan from South Wales, what strikes me is just how ‘run-down’ the local area is and that as the stadium has expanded, the more dilapidated the local area appears in comparison. Furthermore, this ‘contrast’ would become even more stark if ‘The Kop’ and the ‘SKD Stand’ were to be modernised.
    So, whilst I can see why people would object to a stadium expansion, with the area in any case being in a ‘steep economic decline’, without the stadium there would be little or no reason to attract new investment, - which could in time lead to the local community all but disappearing.
    There is clearly a need for to more investment for the local community, but where this investment would come from and how it could be utilised is a very difficult question to answer. However, with there being a bigger stadium, LFC would at least be more likely to generate additional ‘cash flow’ into the community.

  • @liamb8379
    @liamb8379 4 месяца назад +5

    the main points i think would be the fact that thats a main road. It cant be pedestrianised. it would cause too much congestion. The only way i think they could do is if the Kop was built over the road and a tunnel made for the road for traffic to pass through. you could merge the Albert pub into part of the stand itself. the LFC store can be easilly rebuilt across the way becoming the first few floors of a hotel complex. perhaps building a new steeper kop seating and placing it over the top of the existing structure once the roof is removed. If its all prefabricated already you could crane in complete sections with seats etc ready to go. The inside of the kop would stay the same. But im no architect.

    Yes we love Anfield, it is our spiritual home with incredible history and memories. When you look at the incredible stadiums that the elite clubs are building, ask ourselves the question should FSG have built a brand new modern stadium in Stanley park ? Man Utds plans look incredible. Madrids is amazing, Barcelona will be stunning. Spurs is incredible. The 2 milans will build new stadiums. Liverpool city council need to step up here. The Kop and Kenny Dalglish stand must be redeveloped. The whole area lets be honest needs redeveloping. It doesn't look good when away fans and visitors see alot of dereliction close by.

    The empty houses next to Homebaked are owned by Homebaked, the plan is for them to gradually be given over to small independent businesses, the owner of The Albert Pub was offered a lot of money by the club but up to now he's turned it down (he makes more money from the billboard on the side of the pub than he does selling ale!), I don't know about the other empty shops x

    Hey KC, watching your last couple of videos regarding Kop expansion. I’m in construction and civil engineering & my theory is what could happen & probably will is - “all the tinned up property is likely to be owned by the club & even possibly the last couple of business’s, so my experience of how things are constructed is they’ll probably knock them down and move the road over. Church is the only stumbling block but as it’s not listed & if they throw enough money at it they get relocated which would then pave the way for Kop expansion.
    Not sure if u remember me we met night of Atlanta Europa league match. Cheers

    • @laddo

      Kop expansion isn't possible in the way you discuss it; look up stadium sightlines and distances from the centre circle. Not to mention that the costs involved would not make an iota of business sense.
      Also, the road cannot be just simply 'moved over' it is an A road and would require huge government approval. Absolutely not happening any time soon (ever).

    I just think the plan is to knock all those boarded up properties down, a roundabout will go where that boarded up row of houses are which will then allow for the road to be re directed slightly to create space behind the kop on the side that's obviously needing it the most.
    Once that's done they will have space to do exactly the same as last two stands build the extension behind it first and the roof then close season they do the rest like making some of the kop steeper.
    I say some because they can't go straight from the bottom steep or it would block sight of the seating in the corner of main stand.

      @Kevcupo cheers mate. If you think about it, if the club have bought up those houses, only reason I can think of would be they have a heads up from the council that they would be able to do something to re route the road enough to allow for further expansion. I can't see the club buying houses that far along from anfield unless there is some sort of plan for that area.
      I believe the council might of said something along the lines of do the main and anfield road stands first, aquire the properties behind the kop and by that time there could be other plans to deal with transport, which will definitely have to be tackled for further expansion.
      Unfortunately I can't see any of this happening any time soon. Or they might just be wanting to do anfield road stand first let that pay for itself once it has then the kop next, they done it that way with the main stand, waited for that to be paid off before going ahead with anfield road.

    The Sir Kenny dalglish stand can’t be upgraded. When they done the main stand they had to knock down a full road of houses and half of the next street. They where lucky that 90% of the houses were derelict. Skerries road which backs onto Dalglish stand, the houses are all full and mostly owned not rented. Them people will not move and LFC can’t buy out at least 40 houses in the street then half of the next one. Maybe the Kop could get upgraded but not in the way you think, be similar to what it is with extra seats and a higher stand. It might be derelict round here in a couple of streets but it’s not that bad everything is getting regenerated.

    So much of this is incorrect. The proposed plan image you show at the beginning is from a scheme that was cancelled over 5 years ago. The club shop was initially to be underneath the Main Stand (where the players now park their cards). Better bus routes/ park and ride. along with better pedestrian walk ways provided. As im sure sometime while the main stand was being built and the plans for anfield road where put out. I'd like to see them build an enormous Kop, but they need to future proof against restrictions, should they redevelop the SKD any time. The massive pillars at the Anfield Rd end shows just how much extra capacity has been lost from three corners. One of the features of the old standing kop was just how wide it was, wrapping around to meet the main stand and the old Kemlyn. I also think that LFC have missed a trick in not factoring in good natural light to the backs of the stands. again, the old Kop looked superb, largely because it was always well lit, so you could always see all of it.

      Anfield has been designed \ built piecemeal over the years. Sorry to disappoint many but there's no way the Kop or the SKD is being expanded any time soon. Even rebuilding the Kop will mean losing 12500 seats for 2 or 3 years while it's knocked down and re built as a multi tiered stand which wouldnt add many extra seats. It would also cost over £100m.

      Yep 4 large stands might hold 75k or so. Add corners and it could be towards 90k. I also wonder whether at some point in the further future... if the area was sorted transport and leisure wise, that a single roof, Bernebeu style might be desired. Would work if there were all year round concerts there. I believe live music will eventually head that way. But there are few stadia with roofs on currently. I'd love Anfield to become similar to a "Bernebeu on the Mersey". 4 stands but with one huge roof. With Everton gone from the area, that could bring in huge revenue, maybe every week of the year.... once all year stadium concerts become a thing. Anfield has already taken a role as "Wembley of the North" with recent concerts. Even if it is way behind Wembley currently. 2 more stands and 4 corners would see Anfield genuinely become a Wembley of the North. And financially it would definitely work.

    Its wrong to assume that a bigger Kop would mean a proportional increase in capacity. It wouldn't. If the kop was to be rebuilt it would have to be bigger just to seat the current capacity based on current regulations on seat spacing, concourse areas etc. So the club could be looking at a ridiculous amount of money and effort just to increase the capacity by a few thousand.

    • @SuperMagnum83
      @SuperMagnum83 3 месяца назад +2

    The stadium looks a total mess. I am astounded at how many fellow reds just don’t see it. From Walton Breck especially - it looks like a run down ground from the 80’s. The surrounding area is a mess too. FSG are laughing at the club. To date they have not put in one penny over the debt they got the club for. Remember that when you look at the stadium.

  • @aq1974_
    @aq1974_ 4 месяца назад

    A new, steeper Kop with a bigger capacity on the same footprint would be the best solution, with Walton Breck Road moved south to create more space outside the stand. The big question is the one you said: can LFC go 2 or so years playing at Anfield with no Kop while it's built? Otherwise they'll have to do what they've done with the other 2 expansions and build on an 'extension'.

The failure of our chances to become eternal regarding footy and politics are back to take their pound of flesh with the *YOU go there to drink coffee, * YOU will not bevy in pubs we say you can’t before certain matches….. * no ‘papers or that mad one who wore the sandwich board and marched through the Exit hoards screaming REPENT , REPENT LADS ,ITS THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE YOURS! I don't think it is a question of if, more when. The place looks bustling with people and the stadium is the reason. It all boils down to money and the respects of local residents, I think the club needs to be honest with the local community and put a plan on the table.

      No ,if they were to do that they would have done it when rebuilding the Anfield Road end. Also that's pretty difficult to do as with Anfield Road end lower tier was never touched and with the Kop if it ever is expanded I can't imagine it makes financial sense to do a complete rebuild it would more than likely be an expansion which would keep the pitch dimensions the same

    You can't as simple as that ,that's a main road between the north and south part's of the city for business schools and general traffic .just look at the amount of traffic on the road getting fed up with liverpool fans thinking they want to the area and not give a damm about thr local people. But let's be honest if it does get built will only be full if fans from out outside the city anyway.

      @PaulGrayson-gi8pu 4 месяца назад

      The Kop is the most iconic stand on the planet and is definitely the 12th man. I sit opposite the dug out and the anny Rd now is louder than the kop quite often. So how do you define viable, is it all about profit/money.

    • @harrydavies5518
      @harrydavies5518 4 месяца назад

      They've got to keep the kop railseating no corporate seats, keep the prices affordable and give the extra seats to local post codes

    • @P1984-z5i
      @P1984-z5i 4 месяца назад +1

      @@PaulGrayson-gi8puSadly with FSG yes all they care about is making Liverpool valuable so they can sell it on in the future for a profit, they're American investors at the end of day and don't care about the local supporter, Building a new Kop (which I'd love to see)would be a long term investment as it would take a long time for the stand to pay for itself and probably alot longer than FSG would hope to stick around to wait for the debt be paid off and add the value they want
