I was listening the compilation album "If I were a Carpenter" on Spotify yesterday (06/25/2024), honestly I finish the album from start to last Song. I had the cassette copy of that album in the 90s and I never finish it. I was blown away with the rendition of this song and I love it..This is the reason why Im here and for me if that album is a battle of the band, Dishwalla wins the top prize.

I haven't watched this in a while but this rendition is absolutely brilliant.
    Thank you. 🙏🕊️❤️

I absolutely love this version of this song. They knocked it out of the ballpark. I was lucky to buy this CD when it came out back in 1994. It's been out of print for so many years. Now it costs a small fortune to buy it on Amazon. It's interesting, when they introduce the band and they mention "a tribute album to the Carpenters," the audience laughs as if it's some joke. This album was no joke. It has the rust most amazing guitar I've ever heard on almost every song.

I still have my cassette tape from back then! 😊
Not sure if the audience was laughing at the album itself, might have been connected to the interview beforehand, but I'd have to rewatch this episode... Might have it on VHS somewhere.

Like others here, I thought this was the best remake on the album. These guys really kicked it on this song. Thanks for posting this live version.

The best version of this song ever recorded. I'm sure Karen is looking down from heaven with a big smile.

Wow- no skin tight clothes or tattoos, plus they play their own instruments and everything. There's no way they'd be popular today. That's one of the best compliments I can give. Actually I love their version of this- bitchin groove.

For those who are wondering about the Estate of Karen and approval. Richard Carpenter is alive and still working- he is a brilliant song writer. Music cannot be recorded without an elaborate system of copy right and payments. I think Richard probably not only loves to hear this cover but also is paid every time is sells or plays, anywhere. I think this is a creative, excellent cover.

He only gets paid royalties if their version is played. Carole King and Toni Stern wrote this song, so they get royalties if anyone else covers it and/or plays it.

I'm sorry for what you missed in this performance. And I say that as someone who grew up with this original song. On the 8-track with my grandmother.
