If the guys in the band think that nobody can tell that it's somebody other than J.R. singing, I've got a surprise for them!! He has one of the truly most recognizable voices of the 90's, and still has it! I could listen to him sing the phone book...., if we still had phone books.

Dishwalla came walking into the Kaanapali Sheraton's restaurant, they sat in my section, this was back in the mid 90's, I was a huge fan, long story short, these guys were absolute gentelmen, polite, kind, I treated them like regular people, they appreciated that so much, they tipped me $300.00, I was blowed away. I've been following J.R.s career, he's brilliant, and is like a fine wine. He has aged perfectly.♥️

JR Richards is one of those rare cases where being the vocalist didn't go to their head. He is caring, kind, and doesn't have a huge ego. Dude just gave away his awesome "stripped" album for free. No one's perfect or anything, but JR Richards is closer than most.

I really like a lot of Dishwalla's stuff, but they had a cover of BB King's "The Thrill is Gone" that they'd done for the soundtrack to a VERY underrated 90's movie called "Things to do in Denver When You're Dead" - which was absolutely mesmerizing... I discovered Dishwalla (and Matchbox 20) in 2002 & began my rabbit hole dive into their stuff, got really into them & eventually got all of their album CD's. I even got to see them live once. I was also on their website forum a lot back then 2 decades ago. That forum has since died long ago & replaced with new forums. Despite what anyone says, I think their 1998 sophomore album was the best for me. Thus, if 1996 Pet Your Friends was akin to gritty rock (or whatever), then 1998 AYTYKWLA was psychedelic rock. Also loved 2002 Opaline, my favorite track there was "Somewhere In The Middle" which actually made the airwaves in 2002. Unfortunately, I think the reason their 2005 self-titled album was lackluster was because they rehashed a few past unofficial songs on it, i.e. these songs were played at gigs but never put on prior albums. Anyway, once they shockingly & surprisingly went on hiatus after their 2005 album somewhat flopped, I felt that spelled the end of them. A lot of the fanbase felt that & the future was dark. When they came back, out of nowhere, in 2008, JR was gone & someone else took his place. The fanbase felt that sting. You have to remember that JR's tenor voice was iconic of the band for a decade, just like Steve Perry for Journey & Freddie Mercury of Queen. The band just did not feel right without that familiar voice. Why do you think Journey brought in Arnel Pineda? Simply because he sounded a lot like Perry. Once Dishwalla fans found out that JR left, to solo, as well as for his son, I think about half the Walla fanbase took a nose dive. Sadly, it just did not feel right without JR, so I took that nose dive too, no offense to Justin Fox. And because of JR's loss, I think the band is not what it used to be & they have less followers & thus not as popular anymore. So since 2008, I have not followed Dishwalla either. Side note: About 15 years ago I actually did find an official music video for one of their songs that no one else has, after looking around, even on RUclips, so I think no one has this or is even aware of it (maybe the original members remember making it), except me. I've been holding on to it for 15 years. Heck, I don't even know where I have a copy of it. But if I do find it again, maybe one day I will release it.

No wonder the wiki didnt say anyrhing.. bad about the band members.i think the whole thing is just.. purely mutual. And the timing jr being in the uk, theres no way but it would be awesome if they did a one time final reunion tour with jr. I know easier said than done but.. wishful thinking

I just listened to their song last night!
I tried, singing along, tried making up my own lyrics making fun of the whole thing. it was terrible.
so to my neighbors, I'M NOT SORRY!

He's never going to reunite with the band. Don't know which new tune you are talking about but Fox is still their front man.

Yeah... I have a difficult time believing that, "when we play it to 10,000 people nobody knows it isn't JR singing," Justin can sing, but his voice doesn't come close to JR.

They would continue to release albums and in 2002 they released Opaline. Their best work. JR Richards creates solo content these days and it feels every bit Dishwalla. The current Dishwalla band has a new singer and they are not the same. Check out JR Richards. His solo stuff is great. His best song is not Counting Blue Cars. Do not let the radio stations decide what a band's best song is.
