Caan's confession to Weld over coffee, was totally breathtaking. He was great in The Godfather, but this film is his best ever performance. And the music, especially over the closing credits is the icing on the cake!
Think that's the detail that makes the endgame so satisfying, those f*ckers took all Frank had been working for, seems fitting that the only seemly decent member of Leo's crew was not present in the finale.
James Cann is a badass in real life. When shooting Godfather in the scene where he beats up his brother in law the actor on the receiving end of Cann's punches had some serious injuries including broken ribs.
He is playing Sonny Corleone as an orphan born in Chicago, who learned his trade, not from his father, but rather a surrogate Dad who he served time with in prison.

James Cann is stellar in this gritty, underworld movie. I actually felt (very little in fact) for the cat who tried to beat him in the opening of the movie. There wasn’t anyone who didn’t come through in regards to acting and making their roles believable. I would put Cann up against Deniro anytime in the crime “gene” Tangerine Dream are also excellent with the soundtrack to the movie. (F-K! I feel like I’m writing a review for the movie)😎👌

JOHANNES SCHMOELLING (from Tangerine Dream - from the recent Blu Ray of THIEF): "“As an example for the shootout scene, he (Michael Mann) brought us a piece from Pink Floyd’s The Wall. I think The Wall had just come out. It was this gorgeous, incredible track called ‘Comfortably Numb,’ with an insane guitar solo by David Gilmour. For him, that was the music for the ending, the shootout. We knew, of course, that the atmospheric parts wouldn’t be too hard for us, or the emotional sequences either. But for the ending, we knew it would be all but impossible to match the incredible sense of drama Gilmour puts into his solo, and, of course, the composition by Pink Floyd. We certainly could have created music for the ending, and of course, we did. But I think Michael Mann wasn’t happy with it and ended up looking elsewhere."
Great film, great song. It has that Pink Floyd's vibe.

Frank, with the fast reload of the 1911 45.cal.
It’s song send me back to time. 😌
Craig is pretty freaking awesome....we always thought this was Tangeine Dream
what i thought exactly...
James; "I am the last guy you want to mess with"
And how right he was.
Might be the best movie sound track of all time!
he was my age now back in 1981 41 years old
I want this song played @ my funeral!
Michael Mann needed long song for his final scene and credits a for some reason Tangerine dream couldnt deliver so he asked Craig to do it in very short time a he almost overnright came up with this , now it may sound like Comfortably numb, but it is actually very 80ˇstyle and perfect fit for essentially 80´ movie
Love this song, does remind me of the crescendo for "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd.
That's exactly what it's like. Two brilliant pieces of music.

@@AndyKing1963 Wow! Thank you for the info!
Awsome. 1st movie I watched on cable in 1982. Started when I got home from work and it was Jim Belushi intercepting the radio transmission 'Mexico' in the stairway. Close up and personal.
Best looking Mann movie- he generally.gies for realism.and modernism but Thief has such great neon-at-night scenes
R.I.P
James Caan went to Jeff Cooper in order to properly handle the long slide 1911A1.
Michael Mann drew from this movie many aspects, character development, camera shots for Heat in 1996.
Awesome! Anything Safan creates is pure gold!!!!!!
For this film, I decided to see all the seasons of miami vice.
When I was young I saw miami vice with another point of view, but now I undestand that this movie and miami vice series are awesome.
Makes me think of Max Payne
James Cann is stellar in this gritty, underworld movie. I actually felt (very little in fact) for the cat who tried to beat him in the opening of the movie. There wasn’t anyone who didn’t come through in regards to acting and making their roles believable. I would put Cann up against Deniro anytime in the crime “gene” Tangerine Dream are also excellent with the soundtrack to the movie. (F-K! I feel like I’m writing a review for the movie)😎👌
This sounds very 'Pink floyd' brilliant
This is just some fine music. Yup!
If Comfortably Numb’s guitar solo was an entire song. In the good way.
This song inspires me to go apeshit.
Never forget this movie at cinema...The music blew my mind...Jimmy was so great....Willie Nelson ...Michael Mann...
@1:03 is reminiscient of Dave Gilmour's guitar standing on top of the wall for Comfortably Numb in the live rendition of Pink Floyd The Wall.
