I miss the thrill of doing this. Now I've progressed through my career over the last 15 years that I just sit behind a computer 8-10 hours a day in spreadsheets and meetings. whomp whomp.
Strand gate what black magic is that lol. 28 footer all well he blew the carry😂 someone should’ve been in charge like . Geez hard hat now lol😂 hard ass splicer. This guy needs TRAINING!! hell fire the boss. Sadly the boss may not know better. BSAP car full your career and life depends on it. Wow sorry cable tv. Well good luck dude.😅
@@poopsmith008 Same here. Might require pulling the bottom of the ladder out just a hair, but I always set my hooks on the strand as well. More secure, for sure. I've had one of the feet dig in, and you can feel the ladder want to twist. Those hooks just keep you locked in.
Extension ladder safety manual says to make sure you lean the ladder onto a stable structure. Is this legal? One can fall and incur tens of thousands of dollars of medical or death liability that a company might not cover.
@@richardjeun yes they are checked on the regular and we always report any damage to polls or strands and can’t use them till fixed. 100% safe it’s very rare that the strand breaks
It sure is. Shoot....that's nothing. Most cable guys will tell you how they have done drops with the midspan starting about halfway down the line between poles. You throw your ladder hooks up and over the strand....climb carefully....and you feel that strand start to bow with your weight leaning against it. You QUICKLY tie off, and then you enjoy the ride! Swaying back and forth in the wind.....squirrels running down the strand straight for you! After a while, you get addicted to installing cable. Worked for 3 different companies (one of them twice even), and it gets in your blood!
The little giant looks like a great tool for cable work. Give this video 10/10

Set those hooks brother. One rung lower and you’re good.
That’s why you tie off. Sometimes you can’t get the hooks on the strand easily
@@devonsykes2598 hmmm. I’ve worked in tel-comm for almost 20 years. I’m yet to experience a job where I can’t set my hooks on a span

Fly out base in
It would be easier if you gaff than using the ladder; less stress on ur back
They don’t let us gaff anymore
Nothing like burning a pole to put hair on the old sack! Woooooo!!!

This is 100% legal us cable guys do it everyday those strands could hold a smart car
Yes, but it’s not stable. Old and rusted strands can also break.
