    That last 5 mins was the best part of the whole video. Be that 1% who puts in the work, who has the balls get out there and possibly suck in front of everyone, and compete with their gun. Good stuff.

    Man, I have not run a match in eight years, kids. My last match was a 3 gun. I was only one of two AK's out of 107 shooters and the only 7.62x39. I finished 4th on the 300-yard stage and 10th overall. I remember the spotter on the 300-yard stage telling me it was awesome watching my vapor trail arch in.

    I learned from my car racing hobby that equipment plays a role in how you do, but the person operating it matters the most. My best finish was sixth in a class of 45 and 325th out of 1400 entrants at SCCA Autocross Nationals. Enough to get a trophy. The next event, I had a multiple national championship winner drive my car at an event and he beat me by about a second on a 60 second course. That's an eternity, and quite humbling given my time won the class and put me in the top 10 of 80 drivers.
    Are Ak's as quick as an AR in the reload department? No. Can they still be fast when operated correctly? Absolutely. There is more at play than the deficiencies in a platform. Anyone willing to put in the work can get it done.

    Aks can absolutely run in competition. It's not the machine it is equipment operator

      @@Sk0lzkyI won't disagree. I have a relatively stock sgl31 except for the reprofiled and polished alg akt. It doesn't keep up with my polish 556 with same trigger and kns piston. Yet the polish 556 is only marginally better than my perfectly gassed 106fr.

    3rd overall for that fast stage is awesome and I’m not surprised you did it with the M90. Mine shoots flatter than every AR I own except my 18” SPR (they shoot about the same). You can pull that trigger supper fast as the muzzle doesn’t move. The only drawback is faster reloads with the AR (and better high cap mags). Great job.

    So i just took a scoped carbine course, one of the things that the instructor (Rughi - Weapon Snatcher) demonstrated for us, was how positions can effect your POI. For example, shoulder position can effect it in the regard that if your position makes the stock dip down, your muzzle rises sending rounds higher than your POA. One of the ones i was having an issue with was pressing my head to hard into the stock, which was doing the same thing. He also showed us that imparting left or right force into the pistol grip can send your rounds left or right as well. He did a video on it on its IG, we could see the effect even at 100 yards on paper in real time cause he was using a scopecam.
    I say that cause it was sort of an aha moment for me and perhaps it can help you diagnose what was going on with your long and long-er ranged shooting. Also, great job though man. I care a lot less about what platform you're shooting and more about the fact that you performed well. Well built rifles do what their operators want them to do in my book.

  • @mikhailgregovszki7478
    @mikhailgregovszki7478 5 месяцев назад +1

    Awesome video man, thanks for sharing. You did great. I really hope to get to go to one of these someday. I've been dedicated to this platform for over 20 years now, and while I have a few AR's and I like them for what they are - the Kalash just works for me and I'm fairly efficient with them. I quite like my Galil G2 in 545 as well, and yes I consider it a Kalash as well (it sure is on the inside) but man its heavy. Though it is very accurate and super smooth shooting. I think it is great that this platform is making a good showing and I know from experience they can perform - you just have to be comfortable with them. Not many people are, for various reasons; but this is showing them that it is very real and I believe more and more will give them more of a chance. Now we just need AAC to be churning out some decent priced 762 & 545 ammo for us to practice and plink with.

    Good stuff. Yes, ran my SAR-1 at a local 2 gun match and took 2nd of 40 guys or so . . . missed first b y 2 seconds but my 3 second penalty for foot being over the line cost me first. Only AK at that match . . . can totally perform. Your early comment on optics on AK . . . for me, it is probably heavier than it should be but my Midwest siderail mount has proven reliable. I have a 1x4 on it and run an offset dot. 1x4 is zeroed at 100 and dot for 25. That makes it so much easier. Tried running the long-range shots with just the dot and it is a no go . . . just cannot see well enough to make the hits, especially on small steel or clay pigeons. Need some magnification. But, for close in work, you will run into trouble with a 100-yard zero (even with .223). So, from my experience, magnified optic for longer-range stuff and dot zeroed and set for up close work.

    • @PnP-td1mt
      @PnP-td1mt 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@DFWWARPIGS define “competition ak”..
      The weapon and its build out depend on the class.
      Clay talks about this in his video.
      Some classes require completely stock guns (production) where others can have all the best parts (open devision).
      Scoring is typically more stringent in classes like Open.
      I can tell you now a gun going “binary” or “full auto” would get you booted from the comps around here as the gun would be deemed unsafe.
      I had this happen with an AR using the geissele SD-3G trigger. A trigger that is pretty easy to “bump”..

    • @DFWWARPIGS

    I've never seen an AK guntuber with a bigger inferiority complex towards ARs and AR users. If you have a semi automatic rifle in a common caliber that feeds from a easily detachable magazine you're close to parity with the best rifles on the market. Train well with the guns and gear you have and you'll be just fine.
