For me that was the greatest era of racing. The music from megaphones. The smell of Castrol R, and seeing world champions at local circuits, such as the Post TT, Race of the year etc.
To my ears there is no better sound than a Italian or Japanese four stroke four, with open megaphones flat out and then going through the gears, O and of course the Honda six.
I went to the IOM around 1980 and saw Mike Hailwood's return, and the first of the Historic parades, with the MV-3 and MV-4, plus Slippery Sam. I watched it from Ramsey Square, and in the previous race we had seen the works Hondas, and could hear them as they changed down the gears coming into Ramsey. But for the historic bikes you could hear them going past the school over a mile away, and it was the first time I saw grown men crying because of the sound of the engines!!!! Wonderful!
No fine tuning just pure listen and see what you think/feel No electronics just listen and see what ya feel No super rubber just take it as it is and see what ya feel Proper man and machine and no no not just an old git many many folk would just love to return to this human sport trust me Having said that the T.T. is the last of true motor racing where money does count as always but not like these other madonas in F1 and moto G.P. As good as he is and by god he is good lets see Marques on this road trip and lets see how he would get on The other famouse chap Rosso Rassi what was his name again OH yes Rossi he would not even think about doing it Which tells you everything you need to know does it not !!!

beautiful noise but a 125 EMC Puch 2 stroke would put them all to shame for sheer volume...you will know what I mean if you have ever heard one..kind regards
