The Chinese have factories and are making stuff for the world. They are moving forward at astonishing speed while the rusty old USA wheezes along in its memories of past greatness.
The Chinese attention to detail has always fascinated me from the chinaware that my grand parents in the last century to the manufacturing of musical instruments like the harmonica. in this century. It's a testimony to their ability to produce low cost automation for "one size fits all" volume production processes.
what an interesting video! i will subscribe for sure! what a riveting showcase of such a unique work place you should be getting 100k views a video at least
It seems Covid precautions like wearing mask is not followed inside the factory. Just want to check if instruments are getting sanitized before packing? Eastop China has confirmed that sanitization is done for all instruments before packing. Not able to see any such thing in this video.
Hi John, that was filmed in June 2019 before Covid so you won't see anything in this film. Maybe now they are all wearing masks, I would guess so. When we get an order remember it has been sterilized before leaving China, had 2 weeks inside packaging, and then sits on our shelves for another 2 weeks before despatch. We don't open the boxes but sterilize the outers before sending to you. I think we've done everything we can and I can't see a major risk. We recommend you don't touch anything delivered to your home for 72 hours and spray with dettol before playing the harmonica. Sounds fair?
Great video Ben I took my old harmonica apart a couple of times to get a couple of notes to play better 😳. Failed miserably and had to buy another one 🤣. I think it was my playing skills and not the harmonica at fault at all, we live and learn. Thanks for sharing Chris H
Sonnyboy's Music Store looks more of a train wreck each time I view it. If there's another harmonica store on the planet that doesn't have a Marine Band for sale then I'd be amazed. A month ago having watched Ben's Kongsheng Lyra video I visited Sonnyboy's intending to purchase one to discover it was sold out and still none are available. WTF is going on there?!
Thanks for the heads up Dot. Sorry you were frustrated - that is clearly very annoying. My phone number is on the website so if you wanted to call and ask these questions I'm always happy to explain - but if you want to do it in public I'm happy to reply publicly. There are a few things you are not aware of - with respect. Number 1. Sonnyboys is a service for harmonica players rather than a commercial operation driven by business and profit. I am a full-time teacher and Pete has many day jobs. We put as much time in as we can and we aim to serve the community with our efforts. 2. When we first started we sold only Hohner as I had a trade account to supply my students. However, now there are people selling Marine Bands for less than we can buy them for, and whilst we try to have a few in stock as a service, it's not worthwhile commercially. 3. We are a small operation and don't wish to invest thousands in stock so we need to run lean. We have to pay for all our stock upfront and then wait to see if anyone wants to purchase. Lyras are expensive so we order 2 or 3 at a time and sometimes they sell immediately or maybe sit on the shelf for ages. We currently have 5 on order. So why don't you call or email and ask for one to be reserved stating whether you want Gold or Silver. I'll overlook the offensive 'train wreck' and 'wtf' stuff in the hope you were frustrated that you couldn't order immediately - which is clearly a pain in the neck. If you get frustrated again just give us a call and we can have a friendly chat. Now you know the score you can have more empathy with us! Ben.
@@harmonicamastery Thanks for your reply. I had assumed Sonnyboy's Music Store was a dedicated commercial enterprise. Now that you have outlined what it really is and how it is operated then I am no longer confused.
@@dotmaerdy7289 Thank you for your understanding Dot. Give us a call if you need anything made by Hohner and we can happily source it for you and let us know if you would like to reserve a Lyra - no obligation, just to put you at the front of the queue. Wow!
Incredible workmanship
Yes, tough job I think
Nice
i agree with your statement young male
Thanks for posting this. It's good to see inside the Easttop factory.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for sharing how harmonicas are made 👍
I think a thorough safety audit (personal protection, hearing - eye protection etc) should be done ! . Much potential for personnel injuries here !
You should have seen harmonica factories in China 15 years ago - terrifying!

Hard to believe - all the technology!
Yup

From India? Or to India? I think you have to talk to your local shop of contact the Easttop factory direct please.
I hope that they wear ear plugs?
I hope so too
No ear protection in such a noisy environment.
Pardon?
