Australia’s fighting emperor and former unified world champion, George Kambosos, is on a mission for a new belt. Standing in his way is a Ukrainian fight legend, Vasiliy Lomachenko, a three-division world champion intent on writing another triumphant chapter in his Hall of Fame career.
Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) is the former pound-for-pound king, three-division world champion, and two-time Olympic gold medalist. After a 2020 points loss to Teofimo Lopez, he reeled off three consecutive wins. During that winning streak, he joined a territorial defense battalion in his homeland during the Russia-Ukraine war. Last May, he came close to becoming the undisputed lightweight champion, dropping a hotly contested decision to then-unbeaten phenom Devin “The Dream” Haney.
Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs), from Sydney, Australia, spent eight-plus years climbing the lightweight ranks after turning pro in 2013. He authored the 2021 Upset of the Year with a split decision over Teofimo Lopez to become the division’s unified and lineal world champion. In 2022, his showdown against Haney for the undisputed title drew more than 41,000 in Melbourne, Australia. Kambosos lost a unanimous decision to Haney, then dropped the rematch by decision four months later at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. “The Emperor” regrouped in 2023, edging Maxi Hughes by majority decision to secure another crack at world title glory.

@@yancmusic wrong son. Rigo fought Loma some 2 divisions higher, with no experience in that division and already on the way down the hill as he no longer moved around like he used to and counter. Rigo actually took the fight to get a payout as all the cowards in his division ducked him, apart from Nonito Donaire who is a brave and proud warrior, who even punished Inoue not long ago, despite losing to the younger Japanese warrior.

Casuals, do not know how great Loma really is. I am an Aussie and respect George, but I have followed Loma since before George rose up to World level. I don't think George will be able to handle Loma's footwork and angles after R3 or R4 and the power he fires from those split second change of angles from, including that text book Liver shot!!

Loma if he’s really up for it (& I believe he is) is just better than Georgie. Of course a big punch can change anything at any moment. The controversial loss (I think Loma won) has lit a fire 🔥 under Loma and he looks and sounds hungrier than for ages; the footage from his training camp showed how hard he worked. Should be a great fight and hope that both come out of it without any long term damage.

If Kambosos' last 2 to 3 fights are anything to go by Loma will box his ears off.
To give kambosos credit, haney was huge in both fights. He weighed around 160 pounds. he was also big when loma fought him , though loma nearly stopped him. kambosos may have tested haneys chin if they weighed similar. They say style makes fights, though even if kambosos beat haney, i can't see him out boxing one of the most skilled boxers alive today. Loma is just too good and technical, pound for pound. I still have loma up there with inoue and crawford.

Kambosos seems to struggle a lot with skillful fighters. Demolished by Haney and beaten by Maxi Hughes, both are skillful boxers.
