Thanks for a great video on these planters. Found it extremely interesting. ZK and Caleb, many thanks for this great video on servicing the high speed planter. Caleb you did excellent in detailing the items to check and the procedures to do so. Wow, a lot to check and of course, 24 to do. I am retired from farming but have been around the new planters out of interest in how they work. Find this new technology so interesting. More and more for the equipment owner to do and know how to do it. I found today’s video extremely interesting in teaching me or anyone how these systems work and servicing them. I found this to be thee best instructor type video on these planters I have seen. Feel I jumped from basic knowledge to a higher level of knowledge where I can service the planter. Zach, many thanks for having ZK and Caleb go over your planter and film the process. Looking forward to the part 3 video. You all take care and be safe. Thanks for everything. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
It is interesting in that the basic design of the Max Emerge row unit is unchanged over its almost 50 year history. Yes, the components have been updated but the opener/gauge wheel interface is still the same. I know the meters have went through evolution in those years. What I find interesting today is the various designs of the gauge wheels and closing wheels that are being used. That open spoke design on the gauge wheel was discouraged in the past because it "threw" extra soil on top of the seed. P.S. I worked for Deere and was involved with a number of the design changes on that unit during my 36 years. Very good video!
The 'Mudsmith' spoked guage wheels were designed for black sticky northern soils to reduce packing mud between the wheels when plantings thru less than fit areas. When it gets to be early June in a wet spring up here its plant now or never. Been there done that.
Thanks to your excellent exposition I understand a high speed planter! Now I just need to get one... A tractor and some land and a rich uncle would be useful too... Lol But seriously, as a mechanic and operator, you made a very understandable and detailed instructional video, with the right shots to allow a normal person to be able to see and understand the operation of the planters.
In a totally different field the company of the machines we were using would send a tech in to explain new upgrades and such. Not all and in fact not that many were as knowledgeable as Caleb. A fantastic addition to JD to have him and ZK on the case.
I'm in the process of getting my 2020 1775NT 24 row ready to roll and I'm watching this video as much as I'm referencing my manuals, so thanks for the video fellas. Great information.
Awesome video Zeath. I'm subscribed to both of your channels and I think it's a great calibration between you too. Keep up the great work. I enjoy watching and learning from the videos you make.
Guys, a great video. Caleb knows his planters. Surely this proves the old saying is true "Service sells the second" Good team work from the Dealership.
Disassembled and serviced the meter and brushbelt cartridge with no tools! Okay, one pliers. Still, good design work at Deere. Good job, guys! Great video!
Dear Lord have mercy - I am awed by the complexity of this machine. I thought being a pilot as well as an aircraft mechanic had its complexities - Many Props to you boys - amazing
Zeth and Caleb I'm overwhelmed with the information you provide. Precise detailed knowledge you both are skilled technicians. Enjoy watching your videos definitely look you up at the next one. You both stay safe!!
Zach, Man this is one complicated seeder, I think you need these men to service this Machine before you use it every time before seeding your Corn Fields, great Video, Cheers & Best Wishes , Trevor.W.Bacelli. Biloela Qld Australia.
I watched this spellbound. Will never probably use the knowledge but wow what a great explanation. New subscriber. Great job guys. I watch so much Ag contributions on you tube and this channel just started eating more of my week
Thanks for the video, I dint know they had a kit like that for the worn bushings on the closing wheel,so I ordered the kit from copperhead right after I watched your video, looks like I just gave myself more but needed work👍
I use business cards to check openers, as they are 2 inches tall. And I always place spacers removed from between openers under the nut, so I don't have to look for them when installing new disks. Another great vid. Good job, guys.
Fascinating content, loved this education. Just another reminder what a complex world we live in just to get seed in the ground. Thanks guys, great job.
Mighty interesting Zeth and Caleb, I learned quite a bit from this video. A few more of these and I think I'm ready to become a JD tech 😉 Keep up the great work!
A very comprehensive inspection/adjustment video to be sure. Darn. A lot to remember. Something better done in the idle winter months in a heated facility. Would be difficult to do outside. Pure talc is not cheap these days.
I hope zach is taking notes here so he can keep up on this planter. Because him and this thing have a love hat relationship it kicks his ass i guess its easy to see y tho im glad you guys are there going threw it for him that thing should work like new this year
Would love to see a similar video for small grain air seeders. 1890/1910 set up. Not nearly as complex for seed accuracy but still there are many issues that could be addressed I’d like to learn others ideas and methods for solving. Great vids. Not a bum in the lot!!
When did John Deere switch to metric hardware? I bet Zach didn’t mind a planter pro go through his planter. Never had much to do with planters but wow they are complex! What’s your other channel I hear a bit of? Looking forward to the next video!! Stay safe Guys!
When you perform the runoff procedure on the planter with the Tractor Power Generation system, do you guys need to have someone in the cab to keep the tractor from throwing errors because the PTO is running? Or is there a way around it to not run into the safety error when checking the row units when running the planter runoff procedure? Thanks
Hey ZK..do you have any videos on 8330 scv trouble shooting and repair...I got one leaking oil between the control valves and can't see anything wrong or out of place. When I remove the dime discs they don't leak...but put em in..and she dumps oil between the stacks...any ideas?
They have to be super clean and you can’t reuse the o rings. Sometimes you have to put those shims in. And those nuts on top have a certain torque procedure.
I have noticed that you use on occasions some Large Water Pump Type Pliers, you seem to use them on on parts that i would use a socket or a wrench. could it be possible to know where they can be purchased certainly in the UK, if not where do you purchase them on your side of the Pond ?
Does Midwest Machinery Co., the closest Deere Dealer to Zach, not have the personnel with the necessary knowledge and experience to set up and check over the planter? I don't understand why 2 people based at Sloan Equipment's Atwood, IL store need to travel a minimum of 10 hours one way, in order to perform this service. Granted it makes for good video content and collaboration between video creators. It's also nice to know that my closest Sloan location has such personnel when needed, and we've needed them before.
Umm, you guys don't watch Millennials Farmer, do you? he Does use the markers on endrows, a lot-the maps never work well on the endrows and mapping by driving them never works well. And they have highway drivers that look at them.👀
Your commentator needs to have his pick up mic mounted closer to himself as when he talks he keeps fading away and he is not being able to be heard and much is missed in his commentatry which detracts from the information Thanks just saying
I must admit, this video was W.A.Y. above my pay grade !! I didn't understand one word your mechanic said. Therefore, I have decided NOT to become a farmer in especially in your area !! Maybe I'll go back to Africa, where life is not so technical !! Tee, Hee !!
Thanks for a great video on these planters. Found it extremely interesting.

Damn, the dude knows his stuff! It's really nice to watch someone talking about stuff he knows back to front.
Looks good from here

John Deere should be kicking in on the cost of this, tons of info for customers and new techs.
They would rather have their own techs fix it lol
@@ke6gwf yep. There have been several lawsuits pop up recently against John Deere for right to repair.
It's nice to have someone come out on these planters who work on them all the time and have seen problems on previous jobs and fix your problem.
Just subscribed after watching you on Millennial Farmer. Like the tech aspect of farming. Thanks for sharing. Awesome.
Thanks to your excellent exposition I understand a high speed planter! Now I just need to get one... A tractor and some land and a rich uncle would be useful too... Lol

I have nothing to do with these types of planter in the uk was fascinated thanks lads from Boston Lincolnshire uk.
I’m not a farmer but these 2 videos have been so interesting on how carefully a single seed is placed in the ground. Thanks.

I'm not even a farmer but all of this is really fascinating!
Thanks to you guys & MF for making this video possible :)
Seems to me that Zach was wise in actually giving you a call to "inspect/fix" his planter. Looking forward to seeing more on this. Cheers :)
We don’t have planters like this in the Uk but this is fascinating. A really interesting series! Look forward to part 3!
Accumulator bars gone red during test.... @55:58 the classic "Uh-Oh" lol yall are good at what you do! Keep up the awesome work guys👍
I'm humbled by how fascinating these machines are. Great video. Thank you!
This was an amazing walk through. Thank you. Love the channel

Great job guys !!! I've been waiting a long time for a detailed planter inspection. Now everybody knows how much work is involved with planters.
Amazing how much technology it takes to plant….wow!
I appreciate the in depth videos.
Thanks for the video, I dint know they had a kit like that for the worn bushings on the closing wheel,so I ordered the kit from copperhead right after I watched your video, looks like I just gave myself more but needed work👍
I really enjoyed this one Zeth! Caleb did a great job explaining the settings and calibrations. Keep up the great work!

Great video. Office worker. I think I was a farmer in a previous life!
Really made it very enjoyable. Thank You so Much. Will save our family a lot of headaches. 👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣
The amount of work that goes into food production is mind blowing
Crazy complicated. Who knew? Mind blown.
They are incredibly complicated!! Thanks!!!
Super job explaining what your doing and why. Thank you
I seen the border view farmer use business cards, worked great 👍
Awesome video thanks for sharing with Zach
Don’t run green but found it very very helpful learned a lot
ZK.
Do not be too hard on Zack he is a good guy. Thank you for the video.
Exactly what Zach needed 👍
First clip was real interesting I’m sure this one will be just as good
Mighty interesting Zeth and Caleb, I learned quite a bit from this video. A few more of these and I think I'm ready to become a JD tech 😉 Keep up the great work!

Great training video, Caleb did a great job explaining it all
What took you so long! I have been waiting a week for this video! 😁

Good stuff guys! Well done!
Really enjoyed watching. Thought y’all did a good job.
Amazing work! Thank you! I think wed love if you could plug a mini mic to one of yous as well!
Excellent Training Video!👍👍🇺🇸

Thanks!
that guy has a lot of knowledge
Nice job kelb
im not a farmer but this was a great video, very informative .you explain thing very well.
Good work
Is this a new intro? Like it
good job
Hello from Canada
I can say that's one way to solve an accumulator issue just brute force pressure.
Wow. You guy's are great. (New Sub) How long was this planter on the drawing table ?
There sure is a lot of things to check before going to the field.
Wow so much technical info…. When the tech was facing away from the camera, it was difficult to hear. Consider getting an external mike.
It’s in the works
When did John Deere switch to metric hardware? I bet Zach didn’t mind a planter pro go through his planter. Never had much to do with planters but wow they are complex! What’s your other channel I hear a bit of? Looking forward to the next video!! Stay safe Guys!
Deere started the changeover to metric hardware in 1978.
@@davidcolgan3268 No kidding ah? I would not of guessed that!
good stuff
2" to 3" is rhe best if planting more crops than corn.
If you go down to 1 1/2" when planting shallow it will create a W shape seed furrow
Lets Goooooooooo!
Great Video!

55:17 what does he mean by dead head, nothing was hooked up to that scv? And power beyond hydraulic pump doesn't run unless a scv is on?
Can you do hydraulic test of all sections same time if using more test hoses without having shut down tractor for each section?
Larson friend zack.alot of deere.went the on how check combun6
Nothing runs like a deere.

Its a RUclipsr 'collaboration' . Lots of good JD planter techs up here . Midwest helped Zach convert the planter to the high speed units last winter.
10mm how did u find you socket
Wondering, are there any female parts on this machinery?
No female parts on a planter?
