My 1st tractor driving experience was on a 1957 JD 720 Putt Putt named Ole John. That thing was powerful and wasn't anything it couldn't do on the farm I worked on. You Sir are at the top of the food chain! I don't know how I found your channel but I'm glad I did. Please keep the videos coming. So refreshing to see a true mechanic plying his trade.
Pro tip for situations like this. Make what’s called a fit up bearing. Basically you use a sanding drum to sand the inside of the bearing until it will JUST slip on when cold. This would allow a temporary bearing which will allow it to function to get it on the truck and back to the shop. And then when it’s back to the shop that bearing is a slip fit so it comes off easily and get put in a specially labeled box that specifies it’s not for final installation. Those kinds of bearings are usually used by mechanics and axle builders that either don’t have ready access to a press or don’t want to be pressing bearings on and off while they figure out what shims it needs.
This! I have a box with a disgusting amount of fit up bearings in my shop that I'll bring with me in the service van whenever I have a hunch that we're looking at a bearing failure out in the field.

Earning your way with pride.
Bearing induction heater is what you need makes a lot less mess works great on small to medium sized bearings .
All that trouble could have been caused by one little bit of metal, possibly from manufacturing getting into the bearing ! Hope the tractor was still under warranty. Interesting to see how much rusty metal there was where the paint had not reached as well.
He mentions it is a new machine, so it's most likely under warranty
Love the video's... sucks knowing us farmers get service call charges for the manufacturers screw up
Not if it's under warranty like this one.
When I saw that leak I knew that bearing was toast. Crazy that some new stuff can fail like that.
So watching you work on that green stuff I think you more than earn your keep 😊
A great vid. Good work, well done.
Another great video ZK!
Excellent field repair. It is a shame of the amount of brand new equipment you keep going. Nothing lasts like the old stuff anymore.
FYI, if you reviewed tools, I'd totally take your recommendations! Keep up the good fight, sir!
@Ian Kiefer….although I’m a part time green tractor mechanic, after a nearly 40 yr. Career in aviation working on large and small jet engines, commercial airliners, warbirds and helicopters….nuts and bolts are nuts and bolts doesn’t matter the color or size…..high quality tools ( although expensive) are the only way to go…my arsenal consists of Snap-On, Mac, Matco and older Craftsman tools…Milwaukee fuel battery power tools….
When a technician is miles or states away from their shop, they need to rely on what they bring to get the job done, effectively, efficiently and safely.
Good luck…
You are a wizard!
Great videos thanks for sharing really enjoy them
Still better then working on a Chrysler. Good fix in the field to get it back to the shop.
I have never fixed or been even close to a farm tractor but I love how stuff works.
I love this guy!
Excellent work 😎
Thank you!
Nicely done Zeth, looks like you had the tiger by the tail on this one. Crazy failure with that low of hours.
Thanks man! It was an adventure for sure
The first and second video I watched had bad bearings , so I'm thinking John Deere may need to check their bearing quility .
It's a lot cheaper to have good bearings than to do major work like this. The 9630 that had bad axle bearing.
Be interesting to know which country's still manufacture bearings, and their quality.
@@edwinhsingmaster9135 ... Count out the USA we don't make anything maybe tooth picks , no wait they are made in China also.
how could this happen to a new tractor? my 9400t has like 19,000 hours. has had issues but still going strong
Any idea what caused such an early failure? Just a bad part from the lot?
What a legend you could make a fortune on your own top man
