    The builder has told us there is a shortage of radiant barrier and they would not be able to put that in our house. They also say going from R 38 insulation to R49 will achieve same energy saving results. Do you think increasing the insulation would be enough to cope with the lack of radiant barrier ? Especially in DFW area

    • @AtticFoil
      @AtticFoil  3 года назад +1

      Absolutely not! Regular insulation is intended to slow down conductive heat. Radiant barrier is for radiant heat. We have been selling a lot of radiant barrier to roofers/builders etc. because in many areas it's REQUIRED!! These places understand the difference between the two types of heat flow and are not allowing more insulation instead of a radiant barrier from www.AtticFoil.com I'd be concerned of any builder telling you this. They are just trying to make the problem go away and don't let them fool you.

      Yes I am here in the DFW area and just got a message today from my builder saying the same thing. Should i walk away from the build or continue...sounds like the purchaser of a new construction build is getting screwed!

      @@jermainebrumfield8714 Don't worry. You have a couple options. The method in this video will act basically the same (or a little better) than using radiant barrier decking. It's low cost, fast and easy. And, in some places they REQUIRE radiant barrier decking, so they have to do something. Another option that actually a little better/more effective is to drape www.AtticFoil.com over the rafters and let it hang down between the rafters a few inches before the decking goes on. We have several builders that have been doing this for years with great results. Take a look here: www.roofingfoil.com/how-to-install/new-shingle-roofing-system.html Any questions call us! Also, for this application, I'd recommend our contractor grade product here, it's all you need. atticfoil.com/index.php/products/clearance-48-wide-double-sided-radiant-barrier-foil/

    Please correct me if I’m wrong, but Techshield worked off low emissivity, correct? If attaching low reflectivity atticfoil, how is that going to work the same?

    • @AtticFoil
      @AtticFoil  3 года назад

      You are correct, still going to be working off of Emissivity. Basically replacing foil on OSB with foil stapled to OSB.

    In your other videos you recommended not installing this product like this????

    • @AtticFoil
      @AtticFoil  Год назад

      I think you are mistaken. I may say that stapling to the bottom of the rafters is BETTER than this method, but never say don't do it. It's still a pretty good, fast and easy method for new construction. Please post link if I said otherwise. Thanks.

    Hi 2 questions . first is this product available in retail stores. or online in Canada? Second I am having new deck boards put on my Trusses and wonering how well this would work if the atticfoil is nailed to th underside of the deck board instead of to the truss themselves? Thanks

      We do not sell retail. Only direct and cut out the middle man. www.AtticFoil.com Canada? Yes, but usually doubles the cost with duties/tariffs etc. Can you attach to bottom of deck? Yes, this video show exactly this method: ruclips.net/video/iknm3zkIxaU/видео.html
