    So if they’re going to do some new restorations of some of the early projects of Disney. then can they please fix those screwed up title, recreations for some of the cartoons, like the simple things and the little whirlwind.

      It's especially strange that the Walt Disney Treasures DVDs use theatrical title cards for the shorts (either for original release or re-releases), yet on Blu-ray Disney went through the trouble of creating new title cards which BTW originated on the prints used on Disney Channel's "Have a Laugh".

    I have this release in fact I watched this on Disney 100 day on Monday as it’s far and away one of the most important milestones in Disney history. Perhaps only behind Mickey Mouse and maybe Disneyland and I really couldn’t agree with you more on how beautiful this restoration really is! The wonderful 4K restoration somehow made me wish even more that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was one of the films selected to be in theaters for the Disney 100 celebration. I appreciate all the comparisons to the 2009 transfer you made in this video. It made me love this new restoration even more!

    Don’t forget that the original Diamond Edition actually came with nearly a dozen Silly Symphony shorts hidden throughout the disc, remastered in 1080p. Disney was unusually generous with their early Blu-rays. This looks rad but I’ll definitely keep hold of the original release as well.

    Now if they could go back in and remaster films in the original aspect ratio. I wouldn't mind if "The Sword in the Stone" and "The Jungle Book" were done in 1.66:1 because it'd be less out of place. But, films animated in 1.66:1 need to be left alone and they proved they could retain the ratio on the Renaissance films because "Aladdin" and "Mulan" have kept their original negative.

    Now all there needs to be left is a 4k remaster of Sleeping Beauty with a newly restored 70mm six-track stereo theatrical mix from 1959, as well as an isolated music only track utilizing the original September 8th - November 25th, 1958 stereo tracks of George Bruns' Oscar nominated adaptation of Tchaikovsky's ballet score recorded by The Berlin Symphony Orchestra at the UFA Studios in Tempelhof, Berlin, Germany due to a strike by The American Federation of Musicians at the time, which encouraged studios not only Disney, but also others like the music departments of Twentieth Century-Fox, Paramount Pictures, and Columbia Pictures to score their films in Mexico, England, and later France, Germany, and Italy. And not to mention a 4k restoration of the original 1958 Grand Canyon short that was shown before Sleeping Beauty.

    One question… Even in the back cover of 2009 diamond edition ,2016 signature collection and also this latest 2023 4k restoration stated that it’s 1.33:1 ratio
    But I notice that in the 2023 4k restoration, we can see a bid wider of the screen on both side,left & right. As you already mentioned that they decided to go back to its original aspect ratio( so ,I’m a bit confused why they stated that it’s still 1.33: 1 ratio on their back cover😅🙄)
    My question is ,the basic blu-ray disk that comes together in the 2023 4k version have the exact same ratio with the 4k disk or not?
    Because ,I swear to god , i’m sure that there’re a slight difference on both side of the screen. I can see a little bit more like what they did with cinderella 4k
    Thank you in advance for your info & very nice review as ever

    It's criminal Disney Australia are too lazy to release new content on media.
    At least setup an import store to get affordable copies from America.
    They could do it cheaper with contacts able to import more cheaply.
    All Disney content will tank from now on if fans can't own the movies, like Marvel movies, fandom Is dead in Australia now for Disney due to this decision, who would want to be a fan of a franchise they can't own. It's key for fandom. Marvel will suffer now in Australia. They don't understand it's an insult to fandom.

    I know you're a Disney schill, but please report on other animated releases. Thunderbean has a Flip the Frog (created by Mickey's original creator, Ub Iwerks) set on bluray, just released. The original Tom and Jerry shorts (before they become cat and mouse) is also set to release soon from Thunderbean. No to mention the Looney Tunes Collector's Choice Volume 2 coming in November (all never released on video). Don't get me wrong. Snow White has major historical importance, for film and animation, but to not report of these other historically important films is mind boggling. It really feels like you only talk about Disney stuff, which I'm assuming has to do with you getting stuff from them, yet your channel seems to push this notion you're some sort of cartoon expert. Everyone should really look into the sets I mentioned if you care at all about animation.

    • @DaveLeeDownUnder
      @DaveLeeDownUnder  10 месяцев назад +3

      If you think I’m such a shill* maybe stop watching my stuff?
      I haven’t covered any Thunderbean stuff because… as you may have noticed… I don’t live in America, don’t have a multi region player, and it’s insanely difficult and / or expensive to IMPORY any of their stuff.
      Additionally, my channel is my full time career. I have to make videos that actually get views and make me revenue to, y’know, live. The stuff Thunderbean releases, while fantastic and incredibly important, are insanely obscure pieces.
      (FYI, Tom and Jerry didn’t start as humans then “become Cat and Mouse” the Van Beuran “human” Tom and Jerry are totally and completely unrelated.)
      If you bothered to follow me on social media, you’ll see I’ve been heavily discussing, reporting, and advertising the Looney Tunes Blu-ray collections. And occasionally talk about the Thunderbean releases. I know Steve from Thunderbean and he’s wonderful. We have discussed collaborating, but it has not eventuated as of yet.
      Yes - the Disney titles are sent to me for review. And I will do my due dilligence in reviewing their titles for them. I also review dozens of other releases from smaller, obscure labels on my second channel. But this channel’s focus is NOT Blu-ray reviews. No one watches them. And I’m not in the business of making videos that don’t get views and don’t make me revenue.
      Don’t get me wrong. Your comment comes from the right place. But you don’t have to be condescending about it.
      I’ve never once “pushed the notion that I’m some sort of cartoon expert”. I’m someone who loves cinema, and loves animation, and loves sharing that love and sharing the stories.
      Thanks, Robert.

    • @cargoshortsfanatic
      @cargoshortsfanatic 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@DaveLeeDownUnderRight, but most of your audience is probably located in America, yeah? They can get Thunderbean stuff shipped to them at a reasonable cost. Why not bring attention to other, actual influential, historic animated shorts and not just dumb stuff like Loki (literally has nothing to do with animation, other than Disney did it). Your audience would definitely check out Thunderbean and, hell, maybe bring more attention to the forgotten animated icons. (I'm aware Van Buerens's Tom and Jerry is unrelated to Hanna-Barbera, but it still predates it, no? The general public isn't aware there was an original Tom and Jerry, before the cat and mouse duo) Also, you say your reasoning is also because Thunderbean ships from America, but didn't Disney just announce they were going to cease video releases in Australia and New Zealand? You'd still pay high shipping for your beloved Disney anyway.
      Also, admitting you review things for Disney, and mostly only cover their stuff because it generates revenue, is literally admittance of being a shill... I don't use Twitter, or most social media for the most part. I'd imagine most of your viewers/audience are drawn to here too, so why not mention WB animated releases on your channel? Are you afraid it's going to undercut Disney videos, and lose your access to early review of their products?
