Seeing you two together brings reveals a bit of envy that I apparently possess. I got to work with Dad for a year or two 25 years or so ago. He passed in 2014. We always worked on farms, but I didn't buy a farm until after he passed. I only have daughters. They aren't going to get dirty with me let alone drink a shot or have a beer with me after accomplishing something meaningful. I guess I get his share of work and beer. Seems calving has gone overall well for you this year, very few pulls for the heifers & very nice healthy calves. Nice accomplishment considering the weather challenges you have had throughout calving. Hopefully spring is closer now & the snow & ice is done. I saw on the news Thursday morning part of the mid west & south from Iowa down through mid Alabama were getting golfball to softball size hail. Is incredible the damage that size hail does to anything it hits, wonder how many insurance claims got written in those states yesterday.

I like your night trips it reminds me of my childhood. When grandpa's cattle got out, they went to small subdivision - best yards they ate. It was always at night. Nothing like moving 3-5 black or red angus a 1/2 mile in the dark. 😅

But I am glad I helped as a teen in farming but was dry farming so we had time to go fishing in between harvests after we changed over the combine from Blue grass to wheat . The plows were trip rope for the most part and no cab on the combine, just an open seat.

FULL CIRCLE - I just realized I've watched every one of your videos for 2 years so I've been with you full circle twice. Not boring at all - your videos continue to improve and also love seeing how your continuous upgrades to the farm get implemented and how they help. I am continually impressed with what all 2 guys can do - managing a herd like you do - actually more than manage but thrive. I've never seen such a happy and content herd of Angus. And congratulations to you guys with your national recognition at your recent sale - very well deserved!
I feel for you as we don't get weather as bad as you especially this time of the year but I started lambing a week later than we normally do partially due to the fact I was still barely functioning when the rams were due to go out after losing my dad. The first week I thought I was keeping up on it all but then the second week turned wet windy and cold with sleet and hail I was running out of space to put all the twins and triplets as I didn't dare put any out baa the biggest. Thankfully my brother came at the weekend to help so we were able to empty all the large pens waiting to go out as the weather turned better allowing me to promptly fill them back up then fill the small pens I had emptied and then my future brother in law helped the following day which helped me clear the singles up allowing me to fill up the other big pens as well as tail, castrate, tag and mark up more. I don't know about cattle but sheep always seem to want to lamb when the weather turns to storms just when you can't get any out dad always believed it was the smell of ozone that triggered it I just think it's because they are evil little sods that like to cause grief like the three tegs (sheep version of heifers) that have loads of grass but love to stick their heads in the fence especially where it is bare cultivated ground the other side at the moment as they realise we are busy. But at least they have yet to get out and go for a dip in a neighbour's swimming pool or run through his house as they did last year as lambs, that was mortifying.
I enjoy your videos very very much. It reminds me of when I had a small bunch of cows years ago. Had to sell them when left for the service. Got into the hogs instead. Always missed my cattle Now no fences and only memories. It helps watching your videos so so very much. Dipping the cord like you’re doing to me is so so important. Thank You Guys Soo Much for your videos.

I feel for you as we don't get weather as bad as you especially this time of the year but I started lambing a week later than we normally do partially due to the fact I was still barely functioning when the rams were due to go out after losing my dad.
The first week I thought I was keeping up on it all but then the second week turned wet windy and cold with sleet and hail I was running out of space to put all the twins and triplets as I didn't dare put any out baa the biggest. Thankfully my brother came at the weekend to help so we were able to empty all the large pens waiting to go out as the weather turned better allowing me to promptly fill them back up then fill the small pens I had emptied and then my future brother in law helped the following day which helped me clear the singles up allowing me to fill up the other big pens as well as tail, castrate, tag and mark up more.
I don't know about cattle but sheep always seem to want to lamb when the weather turns to storms just when you can't get any out dad always believed it was the smell of ozone that triggered it I just think it's because they are evil little sods that like to cause grief like the three tegs (sheep version of heifers) that have loads of grass but love to stick their heads in the fence especially where it is bare cultivated ground the other side at the moment as they realise we are busy. But at least they have yet to get out and go for a dip in a neighbour's swimming pool or run through his house as they did last year as lambs, that was mortifying.
I enjoy your videos very very much. It reminds me of when I had a small bunch of cows years ago. Had to sell them when left for the service. Got into the hogs instead. Always missed my cattle Now no fences and only memories. It helps watching your videos so so very much. Dipping the cord like you’re doing to me is so so important. Thank You Guys Soo Much for your videos.
