    I LOVED Monster High as a kid. I hated the remodel of the dolls when they decided to do bright colors instead of their dark colors and they removed the removable parts. Monster high was killing the game

    Monster High was really unique. I think they were the first fashion doll line to have a centaur doll, skeleton doll, aquatic dolls other than the standard mermaid, two-headed Doll, and a doll with 6 arms. But I could be wrong about them so correct me on that.

    I really loved the Monster High dolls when they first came out in May 2010, and was deeply into them until December 2011. I know most people who were into Monster High reocgnize that the quality dropped in 2016 thanks to the reboot. However, I thnik quality started to drop since 2012 and since the momment when Mattel felt it was great to create movie dolls with great details and leave the others aside to die with bad quality.

    • @lalalambdolls
      @lalalambdolls 5 лет назад +6

      I can agree with that, I noticed it a lot around 2014. But 2016 was when it really drop down to Barbie

    • @sblancoster02
      @sblancoster02 5 лет назад +3

      @@lalalambdolls Yessss I thought I was the only one who noticed it around 2014. I remember seeing that the Freaky Fussion ones were the most detailed, while New Saceremester and Zombie Shaked paled in comparison in details and accesories. Then in 2015 they really tried to invest in all the lines, like the Monster Exchange and especially the Gloom and Bloom, but everything went downhill in 2016 again.

    • @MharasTrolls
      @MharasTrolls 5 лет назад +4

      I can somewhat agree with this...I remember in about 2013 starting to lose interest in newer lines that came out and even despised some of the lines that came out between 2013-2016. It's only now comparing it to the reboot (and the ultimate demise of MH) that I've begun to appreciate lines like Freak Du Chic, Haunted, Boo York, the festival dolls, Scaris etc. Those were lines that I wasn't generally interested in (Aside from the new characters) when they initially released but now that we have nothing at all I'm starting to really like them haha.

    I'd consider Ever after High to be discontinued as the new run looks worse than the fakes based on the originals/first runs. They've died the same death as monster high - a few awful cheap dolls a year.

    Whoa, Yummyland, what a blast from the past! I don’t ever recall them being called Yummyland dolls, though, but Soda Pop Dolls. I had a ton of them in elementary school; I was OBSESSED. They were all scented, usually after fruit, and so were their little pets! The plastic soda bottle they came in doubled as like a little storage case!

    I have waaaaayyyy too many Monster High dolls and accessories. I've got 4 of the cases filled and so much still boxed lying around.
    The Dynamite Girls is a line you might like. Gorgeous kind of retro 70s box, wonderful dolls and clothes. I own Reese.
    Mystixx was a line that had monsters, zombies and such using a copy of the Monster High body. Clothes and shoes fit either line. Mystixx though did not have elbow or knee joins and were more rubbery than hard plastic. Kind of funny as MH went down the no longer using elbow/knees joints route to lower costs. Mystixx fashion packs still make an appearance from time to time here in the 99 cent stores (usually the same 4 goth fashion packs).
    I only saw this line at Toys R Us, Harajuku Girls. Hard plastic bodies, but jointed elbows, shoulders, wrists, hips, knees feet. Think more along the lines of an entry point ball jointed doll for $20. They had really lovely plastic eyes that made them look so better than painted on ones. They had rooted hair and were pretty body proportionate.
    Straying away a bit from fashion and towards action and high degrees of articulation there was a line called Cy Girls/Cool Girls, a Japanese line that was imported in. Really detailed accessories and high end clothing.

    I have all the Only Hearts Club dolls, I love them, I think they are very adorable. They bend nicely, they have pretty eyes when you see them IRL. Their clothing and shoes are quite nicely made. They were sold here in the USA at Target, for a few years. They had quite a few accessories, such as horses, stable, extra clothing sets; Target was constantly reordering them and refilling the slots. There are alot for resale on Mercari and eBay at this time (2023). They represent the importance of keeping friendships for younger girls, ages 11-14, which is great, as girls in these ages are constantly fickle. I had never heard of most of the other doll lines you mentioned. Very interesting series, thank you.

    Lalaloopsys? They don't release them anymore they were a popular doll line since like 2010 or somthing and they had tv shows and DVDs and a netflix show and mostly dolls they were dolls with fabric dresses plastic hair and (not real) button eyes and a pretend sew on mouth And I have a lot of them in my closet they were a memory to me I have had then since I was a very young kid and so did my BFF we were a little lalaloopsy team playing with them all the time but she grew tired and had them left in her closet (which she still does to this day sadly) and I got bored and lost Them around my house but one day I found a lalaloopsy so I got back the trend for just me and I wanted to buy them but they weren't there so I was sad and lalaloopsys were a big part of my childhood and I want them to come back please creators of lalaloopsy bring them back..

    7:02 funny that you mention My Little Pony here. Actually, these dolls where a spin off side line of My Little Pony when they where trying to branch out the line a bit (can't remember if it was back in the 80's or 90's). This line was made by the same brand that the original My Little Ponies where, if you look back on really old vintage commercials they all made a deal with mentioning that they're by Rainbow (same as the toy here, if you look at the packaging). They had quite a few little lines that they where toying with the idea of ranging from more than just pony toys. Unfortunately, the ponies reigned supreme and they where the ones that ended up standing the test of time (even to this day!) .
    I'm fascinated with doll lines myself even though I'm not a collector, and I used to be really obsessed with My Little Pony a few years ago because of FIM (Grew up with the infamous gen 3 ponies back in the early 2000's, and got back into it years later when the gen 4 ponies introduced pretty cool concepts and a really neat show.) but I did a lot of research on their history cause I just absolutely love the creative history of how things like this evolved over time.
    Anyways, my point is that they're not really knock offs of the classic MLP line, not any more than the alternate Barbie spin offs (such as MyScene, any of Barbie's cousins, etc.) are "knock offs" of the original Barbie line.

    Monster High wasn't really discontinued so to speak.
    At some point in 2016,they decided to reboot the entire thing (everything before the reboot:the story,the doll lines,the cartoon,etc. can now be considered outdated).Personally,I don't really like the current monster high itself,but the doll quality has improved.
    As far as I know,there hasn't been any activity for a long time,so they might as well be discontinued without anyone knowing it at this point.

    When I was little, there was a line of dolls called Quints. Essentially, they were 5 baby dolls that were almost to scale with Barbie, that came packaged together. 3 were girls, two were boys and each had their own specific pastel color to tell them apart. You could buy acessories that came in sets of five. They were sort of popular with my friends and I.
