I know right?! R6 is just to low and R5 is too high. Wheres the middle ground. Grrr. BTW, whats the point of crop sensors. I always found them annoying to keep track of, you had to buy certain lenses, and then convert mm, etc. non sense. So annoying to be honest. However, I suppose it could be like having a 35mm film vs 16mm (I think) back in those days. What am I missing?

My only concern is the worldwide microship shortage that has to have some sort of effect in the production and release of any of these cameras. Personally, I am eager to see the (alleged) R7 camera as it just might replace my 7D Mark II if the quality is what I anticipate it to be.

I don't expect a full frame camera lower than the R6. I think all the higher numbers to be APS-C like they did with DSLRs. I would also think they would add zeros to the more consumer & entry level cameras again like they did with DSLRs and they would be APS-C.

3:10 is what I went through recently but I wanted full frame. For my budget, R and RP were my only options at that price range with Canon. I wasn't invested in expensive glass so I had to either go all out with the R6 and RF lenses or try Sony with the A7C which I ended up doing. I've shot Canon since the Rebel XT but over the years, the typical crippling of certain cameras gets tiresome. I may look at Canon again when the R lines are settled and more glass available. I'll enjoy my A7C for now and the one lens mount system vs 4 of Canon's hahaha! Anyway, I'll enjoy my A7C while I watch the crazy mess Canon has made for themselves. As for the rants and the fluff, who cares, too many people are in a rush to just get the content they want and bounce, then there are others that appreciate all the hard work, effort and insight you put into these videos. Keep it going bud, always look forward to your videos!

I also think it would make more sense if Canon call camera between EOS R and R6 to be R7 but it still questions 7D mark II replacement but I would like to see 1 digit series to be all full frame. So R8 could be RP replacement with electronic viewfinder and R9 very simple, Rangefinder style and maybe with tiny viewfinder like Sony A7C. Canon R10 could be replacement for 90D. Well, we will see and it is very interesting what Canon will offer to us. They are little bit late but still look like to be on the right direction.

The question here is whether Canon goes with an industry standard APS-C and its 1.5 crop and standard sensors or go with the proprietary APS-H and its odd 1.6 crop and lose pixels outside the smaller image circle. If the former you would need to mask off pixels outside image circle of an EF-M lens.

    I'd love to see a APS-C r-mount camera.
Took my R6 to the zoo (finally out of lockdown and open again!).. and boy do I miss the extra reach the 1.6x crop gives you.
And the 800 f/11 (which I'm probably going to need to pick up sooner or later..) on an APS-C? That's 1280mm!
As for your question at the end of the video: 6 or 12 hours doesn't make a difference whatsoever for me. I prefer quality over speed or quantity. Maybe for creators, the Almighty RUclips Algorithm (r) doesn't reward that, but.. RUclips's interests don't align with mine in this regard.

If Canon are going to basically abandon the EF-M mount (which they should), I presume they will develop an EF-M/RF adapter so they don't totally orphan their significant user base of EF-M users, giving them a bridge to the RF system with their current lenses. As for nomenclature: maybe Canon could go into a letter-only system for lower-level FF bodies, such as RA, RB, etc. I mean, where exactly did "RP" come from, anyway?

Seems like the Canon R and Canon RP were glorified prototype cameras - I don't see them making a Canon R MkII = where does that sit with respect to the R6 and R5 - between these two products that Canon R has no place. The RP has a place as an entry level full frame, so maybe they could make an RP MkII and just let the RP MK III, IV etc. etc. always be the cheap entry level FF - who knows. I'd say Canon R is definitely dead though - no point in making a Mk II of that with the current product line.

Hi Simon, I personally have no issue with getting news a bit later. I would prefer it since it would allow you to verify sources, construct more reliable reporting and more importantly have a life. Since these days there are chip shortages and other global factors that require a heck of a lot of lead time to get products to market, the vast majority of the time we can't action on most of the hyped up news. Even if we had the cash available to jump all over an opportunity, odds are we have to wait. In my mind, I'd rather get solid, reliable information, even if they are rumors, that are at least solid or go through some vetting over time (even if it's just a few extra hours). To me what you bring to the table is genuineness and integrity to the news and rumors. I feel very comfortable knowing that you take your channel seriously, but more importantly take life seriously with integrity and common sense. I have never seen you click-bait or try to fool people into subscribing or mislead them to create more likes. You may not be growing at the rates that you were before, but I believe you have a very solid base because of your character and content. In time, events and circumstances will allow you to grow, but I don't believe you'll ever be going in the opposite direction and lose subscribers. Keep up the great work and take care of yourself and your family. Thanks again Simon! Take Care!

These names don't make sense for APS-C. Canon's way would be two digits for cropped sensors like R30, R50, R70, etc. During the last year, rumors were mostly wrong. They missed R3 in a big way and no indication of imminent release of cheaper RP mark ii or another high megapixel camera yet. In my opinion R5 remains a megapixel monster line and R6 will be its poor's man companion. R3 and R1 would be the speed and sport championships. But at this point of time, I bet even Canon doesn't know whether they would merge them in the future or keep them distinct lines. It will all depend on technological advancements and manufacturing costs but probably R1 will get a global shutter. We will see an R1 whenever that technology becomes commercially available. R7 will be the EOS R replacement for enthusiasts and R8 will be the new RP for entry level.
