Wrongfully being one of my all-time favorite commission tracks due to it involving one of my favorite Manga/Anime characters ever (that being Goblin Slayer), you can't even *guess* how excited I was to see it receive a vocal version.
And, well, even if I'm a bit mixed for reasons which I'll cover later, it still has some pretty cool additions to it. Also I think that the instrumental got a slight glow up which is appreciable.
First I must say that Tyler's voice work is absolutely wonderful and, as it seems he is "voicing" Bell in this song, he does a wonderful work at representing the character: youthful and energetic with a great sense of pride in his lyrics.
Same goes for Brandon's voice work too, it represents GS really well as a much grittier and almost emotionless person who's only fits of emotions are often of anger and still then limited.
Both vocalists get into their characters' personas really well and just their voice fits really well each character.
Before I proceed I'm gonna state this now that I don't know when this version was done and if it was completed actually *before* Awakened Sacrifice's vocal version was done, but the construction of the lyrics heavily reminds me of it:
-First you get one character (here GS) "presenting" themselves with a first verse,
-Second you get the other character (here Bell) making a "presentation" for themselves,
And the rest of the song is a back and forth/harmony between the two characters.
Altho this one does have direct differences which makes it unique, most notably GS and Bell almost never perfectly unite in the lyrics aside from the chorus and a select few parts, unlike Clare and Guts. I think that's a great because it shows that, unlike in Awakened Sacrifice, both characters are in no way able to perfectly understand one another as, while they're somewhat similar, they have very conflicting points of view (IE: Bell is more than willing to help apparent enemies if they seem to be in need while GS would never once hesitate to set fire to a Goblin nursery (rightfully so, don't get me wrong)) which makes them pretty much incompatible for this "unity" that Guts and Clare would have.
The only notable points where both characters since in unison is in parts where the both of them are singing points they have in common (IE: how they both wish to be people's hopes) and that's something that is really appreciable. Once again comparing to Awakened Sacrifice, it makes for a really good parallel as in the aforementioned, Guts and Clare only sing apart from one another during their introduction as, after this, they either complete one another or sing in unison. While here GS and Bell either sing one apart from the other or one overshadowing the other, only having a few bits where they are in unison.
That's a really nice way to show character connections and personalities via songwriting.
However, even with good points like this, I did say that I'm mixed on the song. And that's not for no reason.
Sadly, I think this song massively mischaracterises both characters *heavily* and this is a major issue in my ises.
Multiple times throughout the song, both characters say things that fit neither of them. Here are three examples:
"History will know our names"
"Who do you think that you are? There is no distance too far"
"We're both steeped in Goblin blood"
For the first one, neither of them really want to be remembered in history as far as I know. Bell just wants the girl and GS actively says that he does not care if he is remembered, only that he wants others not to live through what he did. So them saying this fits neither as it's neither's objective to be as much.
The second one is also problematic as neither of them would be nearly condescending enough to tell another that second line. Bell would either empathise with GS or see him as a worthy opponent and GS would straight up not care if not even respect Bell for being a proud adventurer that protects others. Also noteworthy that even the second part of the line is unfitting as the both of them have *notably* already recognised that they shouldn't overstep their bounds not to become the monsters they're hunting themselves. So the "no distance too far" is directly wrong characterisation, *especially* for GS who's noteworthy for actually having mellowed down since he started adventuring with others to accommodate for his allies.
For the final one it takes an overarching problem with characterisation of Bell especially in the song. While Bell and GS have some common points, Bell *never* has, at any point, had a special connection with goblins in his story (at least not as far as I know, and I watched the whole anime as far as it's updated now), so the song making it seem as if the both of them have this connection is not just misleading, it's straight up wrong.
I know it may seem rude and nitpicky to say this, but those two being respectively one of my favorite manga/anime characters out there and one I quite like in general, this is a bit hurtful to see them characterised so wrongfully (roll credits) in this.
Going a bit further on that, I also feel like the lyrics are maybe a bit bland honestly ? I know it's really insulting to say that so I deeply apologize, but they just feel kind of generic for characters like Bell and GS who both have such deep personalities (especially for GS). I mean, we have a line that's literally "My family's gone but I'm still strong" and another that's "My obsession, is their protection, Kindest killer", if this doesn't sound purely basic, I don't know what does.
Now don't get me wrong, it isn't *bad* once again. It just feels too surface level to me.
To end this review on a more positive note tho, there's something that I noticed which was already an issue to me but actually became a pro in my eyes and that's how the instrumental is used throughout the song. At first I wanted to say that the lyrics only use the instrumental as a "tool" with things like Bell's "introduction" being directly overlaid with the first go of Rightfully in the instrumental. But after listening for a while, I also realized that this utilisation goes back to my first point of the two character being or not in unison. Indeed, at the start we get the two characters being completely out of tune with one another and it reflects with how they "use" the instrumental, caring very little where their lines in the song are placed. But as the song progresses, the two of them get more in tune with the instrumental, instead playing along with it instead of using it as they wish.
This is reflected best with, like I said above, the use of Rightfully in this song. The first go of the Rightfully reference is at first GS singing on top of it as is rightfully is but Bell then just *cuts* him off as the chorus of Rightfully starts, putting himself on top of it regardless of what GS or the instrumental likes or wants.
But then at the second go of Rightfully (2:28 and onwards), the two of them instead sing along in unison during the song's chorus as the two have fond their common points and decide to capitalize on them, singing in unity and leaving the instrumental to shine for a while in a solo of guitar and piano before the two finally take over the song once more when the instrumental goes back down for one last duet.
Overall I must say that at first, I was actually quite disappointed with this vocal version of Rightfully, having expected absolutely amazing lyrics on par with Awakened Sacrifice and instead receiving something that was neither of the same lyrical nor audible quality as the aforementioned. But after listening to the song numerous times to write this review (and given how long this comment is, I'll let you guess how many times I've heard it by now given I don't pause the song while I'm writing and it's on loop), I noticed things that made it much better than I originally thought it was, redeeming its faults heavily even if they're still present. Wrongfully may not be "*the*" vocal song I was expecting to be, but its qualities definitely made it so it was judged *Wrongfully.*
Amazing job to both people involved in the song.

After some time, I can definitely say this one’s a banger. It hits harder now after watching 3 Seasons of Danmachi (which is easily now one of my favorite anime of all time, and Bell is even more easily a Top 10 favorite MC for me).

@@WhiteDarkness3113 The most popular request for Issei is Tatsumi from Akame Ga Kill that's mostly due to the similarities between them especially the whole have living draconic armors made from dragons that despite being armor are still alive IE Draig, and Incursio.
With the biggest question being does Incursio's ability to adapt to anything allow it and Tatsumi to survive the best moves, weapons, and abilities Issei and Draig have including the True Juggernaut Drive, and Ascalon the sword that's super effective against draconic foes.

It has both comparison in power levels, and also jokes on the voice actors being shared.

Ok who are these two? How are they similar? Don’t know either characters nor their series😅. But it looks like they both were wrongfully accused of something?
Bell Cranel is from Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon and Goblin Slayer is from Goblin Slayer. They're both adventurers and with personal goal. Bell is to be with the girl he fall in love with and Goblin Slayer's goal is to kill Goblin. Other thing similar to them is that others adventurers see them as weak, but actually they are very skillful and strong.

@@chaisonpeyton Well, the reason the song’s name is called “Wrongfully” is that it takes aspects from each series.
“Rightfully” is the song that is played during the first opening of Goblin Slayer, and Bell’s series Danmachi goes by the name “Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?” in English.
So that’s probably why it’s called “Wrongfully”. As for connections, both are red eyed light haired protagonists(Bell has white hair while Goblin Slayer has grey hair) who a hyper focused on one goal.
Goblin Slayer solely kills Goblins and does Goblin related missions even when there are much bigger threats in the world, where as Bell wants to reach the same level as a girl who saved him in the dungeon.
Another connection is that both end up accidentally getting a harem of women who are romantically interested in them.
I think the death metal tone was the wrong choice for these lyrics. Should have been something softer.
