Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis, (BWV) German for Bach Works Catalogue, it's a system created to universally catalogue all of JS Bach's works. They are group thematically (not chronologically as may of his pieces are undated)
Best version I have heard, honestly. Most versions played by an actual organist(s) just lack the depth of the bass notes that you provide in this version which fill it out and drive the song forward so nicely and powerfully.
Amazing! With the explantion you can perceived that, beyond the inspiration,a piece like this one have to be planned to achieve the emotional content of the audience. Bach der meister aller meister.
I read that a hour or two before services, these pieces would be performed outside in front the church. To a population only a few centuries distant from the Late Middle Ages it must have made an impression. The volume and tones all without electricity just manual power.
Look at this from Bach's point of view: He had an enormously demanding schedule that required literally thousands of pages of music...all BRAND new, from his brain. He created some of the most magical and magnificent works in history. HE HAD TO WONDER HOW HE COULD ACTUALLY DO THIS? His "solution" was that it must have been a gift from God. He sometimes "joked" that anyone willing to work hard could do this too. Too funny. Bach would not have understood modern atheists. He would simply have said: "OK, if you're so smart YOU create what I did!" BTW, I play the piano transcription of this fugue. Actually....quite well. But that does NOT make me Bach. All it makes me is a "relatively" good pianist. Nothing more. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
With modern music theory knowledge and understanding of the fugue art style, many trained musicians could do this. I don't think any sort of God gave bach his gift, he was just talented..
AAAAAAArrrreeeeee You Ready? Mega Man Legends is the reason I became a fan of Bach and the entire baroque genre. For some reason all I want to do is math and day dream when I listen to this mans work.
Tom Cummings it’s probably for a project or made by a prof to help study. This is pretty easy for me to understand, it’s just being in music for a while it’s just like a second language
Futility The word "song" is very often used to refer to any piece of music. Though it is _technically_ incorrect, most people still use it like that, and most people don't care if it's technically wrong. Why not try not being such a smart-arse.

Kuroizx Saying "is" instead of "are" has become commonplace here in England in recent years. I suppose you know the trend I'm referring to. Where has it come from?
It stems from an alarming lack of 1. education and 2. the imperative and urgency to be functionally correct in one's endeavors. Basically people don't care enough about what the right thing is or doing it, and instead believe that their chosen sub-par alternatives are sufficient for their purposes. Imagine this scenario: you are at a train station to catch a 3 o'clock train, you don't have a watch and your phone is out of batteries, so you approach a nearby young man in fashionable casual apparel for the time, to which he pulls out his phone and responds "it's a quarter 'til 3." You thank him and decide you have enough time to relieve yourself before making your way to the train, but a few seconds later another man who is small of stature and is in business wear and who was nearby interjects "It's actually 3:52," to which the young man responds "close enough, bitch!" as he immediately corners the smaller man and begins beating him and punching him in the face repeatedly. After about 20 seconds of pummeling the smaller man, the young man remarks "Where is your demon sisters to protect you now?!" As you stand there in shock at the scene playing out in front of you, you soil yourself in front of hundreds of passersby and then make your way to the washroom to clean yourself, ultimately missing your train.
Bach was a genius. I absolutely love the organ. It sounds so dark and amazing.
great for someone who studies music or someone who trys to understand the structural principles of fugues
or for people who cant brain these paperthingies (like me). i now can learn playing this stuff :D its fun to learn it
if you use synthesia over sheet music to understand fugues you're doing something wrong.

And hopefully, will be a stepping stone for those students to create their own music!

Really wonderful notes describing the development of this fugue. Should be extremely useful to students beginning study of fugue theory.

Why not for concert band? I'm sure it's just as beautiful.
