    "Earth isn't round"
    Yes, it is. 'Round' does not imply 'a perfect circle'.
    Earth isn't a perfect circle, but it is round.

    • @rootz420
      @rootz420 7 лет назад +1

      JReezy I'm not going there. All I'm doing is pointing out that what they tell us currently doesn't match the 'evidence' nasa has showed us in the past. You can debate things like a bee and what not. What I'm trying to do in my comment is point out a flaw in logic in that fact and start a discussion primarily based on that. Lol but I'm on RUclips so Lol.

      JReezy yeah I know. I just want to hear the average persons response to this logical fallicy. I've seen all the videos on flat earth. And honestly it's probably neither. Both are a deception in my opinion.

    If it's on the moon it's a Moonquake not an Earthquake.

    • @Cricket101382
      @Cricket101382 7 лет назад +1

      No. Earth does not refer to the name of our planet as our planet doesn't actually have a name. It refers mostly to rock, mainly the shifting of tectonic plates.

    • @MRAutomaticjt
      @MRAutomaticjt 7 лет назад +2

      I never said Earth was the name of are planet, it doesn't change the fact if it's on our moon it's called a Moonquake not an Earthquake.

    • @Cricket101382
      @Cricket101382 7 лет назад +1

      No. It's still the earth quaking. An earthquake is called an earthquake regardless of what celestial body it happens on. You don't call an earthquake on Pluto a Plutoquake for example

    • @MRAutomaticjt
      @MRAutomaticjt 7 лет назад +2

      Definition of Moonquake. A quake or series of vibrations on the moon similar to an Earthquake but usually of very low magnitude. The moon has no convection and no active tectonic plate motions.

    2:28 Actually the Earth's magnetic poles are moving because of the semi-fluid of the outer core of iron in the planet. We are currently in a period called Brunhes Normal which started less than a million years ago. Before that we were in a period called Matuyama reversed. During that period the poles swapped twice to what they are now, but reversed shortly after. Sorry... geo person here.

      Also didn't the moon form when an asteroid collided with earth. Not another fucking moon. I get how probable something like that could happen in an entire universe. But didn't scientists already prove this one because roughly half the moon is made up of similar materials as earth and the other half was something else.

    • @Ceyrenn460
      @Ceyrenn460 7 лет назад +1

      Scientists theorized that a planet roughly the size the Mars collided with the Earth early in formation. The debris from the collision eventually formed the moon, and it also explains why the Earth has a much larger iron core than the rest of the terrestrial planets as well as why we have such a large satellite/moon compared to Earth's size.

    • @Ceyrenn460
      @Ceyrenn460 6 лет назад

      cheezl 2 not sure what you are saying I'm right with, my original comment, or that you didn't understand the sarcasm in my reply about being aggressive. If you shrank the Earth down to the size of a ping pong ball, the imperfections on the Earth's surface (mountains, valleys, etc) would still make the Earth, smoother than a ping pong ball. Plus the Earth is curving away from wherever you stand, thats how spheres work, they don't obscure vision along the surface. I'm curious how you would explain the phenomenon of landforms and large objects rising over the horizon as you approach them, or as ships disappearing over the horizon as they sail away. Can I also ask why stars, our sun Sol, other planets, moons, and even small planetoids/asteroids are all spherical in shape and how could the Earth be different? Also where are the edges, and how do you explain being able to circumnavigate?

    Fun fact, an "earthquake" on the moon is called a moonquake.
    The earth probably didn't have two moons at one point either (although currently there is a small asteroid orbiting the earth for the next 200 years.) See, scientists are actually not sure how the moon got there. However, the most prevailing theory is that a protoplanet 2/3rds the size to the size of Mars came crashing into earth and the debris, influenced by the earths mass, formed together to create our moon.

    Actually gravity is acting on you with the same amount of force. What's actually happening is that you're moving faster relative to the ground. Gravity is a centripetal force that counteracts your body's tendency to keep going in a straight line in the vector of your velocity at any given instant. Since you have more inertia at the equator due to moving faster, more of that gravitational force goes toward keeping you on the ground instead of making you weigh more. That doesn't mean it's any weaker or stronger, that just means part of it gets used for different things.

  • @leozao5
    @leozao5 7 лет назад

    Review your "two moons" part. The difference in terrain is believed to be due to meteors (which would hit only one side).
    And the Moon is believed to have been formed when Earth hit another planet about the size of Mars. The debris launched into space eventually got together and formed the Moon.

    there's a partial inaccuracy in number 10. the pole is not shifting due to changes in Mass. both North and South Pole have been destabilizing for roughly 300 years and it is indicative of a potential polar reversal, there's also an anomaly in the Atlantic Ocean between Brazil and Africa that has been strengthening... however there is no guarantee that we will see a reversal and the poles may stabilize on their own

    For me, the strangest fact about Earth is that we've only explored 5-10% of our oceans along with huge tracts of land that are equally unexplored. Yet we're spending HUGE amounts of money to explore space...and even go so far as to call space the final frontier when there are still many frontiers left on our own planet!!!

  • @dhawthorne1634
    @dhawthorne1634 7 лет назад

    To know our speed through space, you would need to add our sun's orbital speed int he galaxy, our orbital speed when we are on the far side of the sun to the black hole, earths orbital speed around the moon when the moon is closest to the sun and our rotational speed for someone standing on the night side of earth when all of the previous conditions are met.
    All you managed was someone's speed in relation to the planet's core.

    It doesn't matter where you are on earth Dolan, you are always moving incredibly fast because of the earth's orbit around the sun.
    Also the reason the near side of the moon is smoother then the far side is because the moon is tidal locked, making it harder for asteroids to reach it.

    Even if you are at the pole, you are still traveling over 67,000 miles per hour, or about 18.6 miles per second. That's the speed the earth travels around the sun. That doesn't even factor in the the speed our solar system moves around the galaxy, and the movement of the galaxy itself.

    #2 It's not because gravity is weaker at the equator... Gravity would be a little stronger there due to the Earth being a little squashed like you just said in #1. The reason why is your angular velocity is higher at the equator. The Earth is spinning and if it weren't for gravity you'd be flung off. Near the poles a shorter distance is traveled with each revolution around the axis of rotation (a day) than at the equator so you're traveling at a faster speed at the equator. The force due to this is in opposition to gravity. Gravity is stronger some of it gets offset by the spin. This is also why Space Agencies like to launch Rockets as close to the equator as they can. They require less fuel to get to orbit.

    The fact is facts are always changing. Some of the facts in this video are hypothesis only and not conclusive.
    The moon for example, there are many theories such as two moons colliding, being created when another planet collided with earth and as none of us were around, can't prove any theory.
    Facts denotes possibilities

    Ok, some constrictive feed back is coming your way.
    1) the shape of the planet is "Oblate Spheroid" but it is exactly as you described it.
    2)so I cannot source this off the top of my head, but I read somewhere that the dark side of the moon has a cool, large crater that looks lie an eye! Not sure if this is 100% true, but since the moon likely was a major factor in early religion (Source: my mom she has degrees in religious studies...from Harvard...so I believe her when she says this stuff. She specializes in early religions. ) think about how paranoid we, as a species, would be if that was facing us!
    3) mammals are a recent thing in evolution the oceans went a long time with out mammals....
    4) Cool I didn't know the earth was the densest planet in our system (makes sense though).
    In conclusion: nice video :D

    The weirdest fact ik about earth is that people evolved to have different colored skin based on how close to the equator they are. The closer to the equator the darker their skin was to help fight off UV rays and skin cancer

    Ur wrong about us moving at 1000mph, bc our entire solar system moves at 44,000mph!! We ALSO SPIN like a vortex (as we rotate the sun) at an additional 1000mph, but we r all racing thru space at 44,000mph, pretty terrifying.
