Was this worth posting? Very possibly not. But the man amuses me. I uploaded this in August '23 and figured I may as well publish it at last. Better stuff to come from tomorrow onward as I am back home from a slight sojourn in Sweden.
@@WakaWaka2468 I haven't been around the country much, but I've spent collectively perhaps almost a year in one place/area over the last 20 years, and it's pretty much 100% Swedish/European. Very rare to see someone not in that category. Of course other parts are different.
@@Vingul Yeah Ive heard in Sweden the immigration seems to be located in certain parts, similar to England. In Ireland its all spread out equally wherever you go, sadly
@@raysissum might even be worth it just for 1:09 to be honest -- always makes me crack a smile or LOL. And thanks, it was very enjoyable. Spent time with family. Hope you're enjoying summer!

I'm sorry, i'm totally late to the Party but I need some context. I first I thought he was talking about this Russian-Ukraine Proxy War growing into a real War. I'm not an "Anglophone" so I don't follow this sphere of UK politicians & politics that much... So you'll have to forgive me.
Hello, I'm afraid that just about all the context I can remember is already in the description. I'm pretty certain it's from the time when there was low level warfare between Ukraine and Russia, from 2014 onward. I don't know exactly what Hitchens envisioned for the "Russian scenario" that the interviewer mentions or exactly what you had in mind, but I think you're right in your first thought there. P.S. I'm also not an Anglo so the same goes for me really.
I think the video I took it from was six years old at the time, so probably at least seven years or more. Might be ten for all I know. I can't remember where to find the full interview.
Superb, with this day and age this video has universal applicability!

Those chickens from fall 1939 never stop coming home to roost for Britain.
All too true.
Absolutely - our hubris never failing to be our downfall it would seem.
The only columnist contrarian enough to endorse Sunak in 2024 😅

He's such a cheerful fellow.
When he bellows "Despair!!" He reminds me of Lord Melchett in Blackadder when he would make loud monosyllabic bleating noises 😅
Hey, i agree with him here
Still funny tho ;)
This gets me more and more. I see People who marched against the Iraq war, who want this. It's amazingly sad
@@curiositycloset2359 you're absolutely right (and Hitchens is with what he's saying here, obviously).
All excited about it until they get conscripted.
