In Vancouver Chinatown, eating /going to eat Dim Sums were two different! From our Asian Chin, Dim Sums meat Har Gow, Why Mai , B.B Q Pork ...... The Chinatown Canton Chinese meant Barley Cakes and Coffees!
Before settling down in CA. U.S A around 45 yrs ago, I stayed in this Poorest Wildlife Snowy and Rainy, but beautiful, natural and flowery Chinese B.C.. Most Asians were from Canton, H.K and Taiwan. There were no Vietnamese/ Chinese Vietnamese Refugees even their Soup Noodles and Long French Sandwiches! The B.C Vietnamese were still in Vietnam!
In one day, I was in Vancouver Chinatown, the 2 old gentlemen were walking and one man invited the other friend to go Yin Cha! I thought the man was very generous because of costing 40 Canadian dollars! Finally, I found out that their meanings of Yin Cha were eating 25 cent barbery cakes and10 cent coffees. It was a good new deal and great Choice/ alternative of Vancouver Yin Cha to save money. Everyone can afford it!
