You don’t want to waste a pitcher in a meaningless game. Even a young one. They’re still taking up a rotation/bullpen spot so why not use them when it actually matters.

White Sox threw in the towel, they were happy with a split of the 4 game series vs Boston and didn't want to burn their bullpen with Cleveland Indians series coming up...those games will go a long way in determining who wins the division.
Beating Cleveland is more important to us than trying to rally against the Bosox...
