On Death Parade they do refer to the elevators as heaven and hell, but Decim says on the first episode that heaven and hell don't really exist, and that humans are only told that so they don't have to think about it. So both Shinigamis and Arbiters deceive humans into believing in an afterlife when in reality there's none. That's a bit convenient, don't you think?

So they propably made a normal "test" with him, but because he is so smart he saw throught it and was able to go to reincarnation. If this theory is true, then Light's memory would have been erased of his previous life before he was set loose as a Shinigami. Maybe Ryuk's story caused some memories to return... Odds are that epilogue took places many years after Light's death, possibly even centuries. The Deathnote Manga has a epilogue out now in the all in one collection that takes place a few years after Light died with N taking over as L and a new Notebook user coming onto the scene. The Shinigami wasnt the same one from the epilogue.

I believe that, in the anime, Ryuk's words were, "A human who has used the Death Note is incapable of going to either Heaven or Hell." And in Death Parade, neither of those things exist, so.... plus, the void is essentially Mu (Nothingness) so.... could be a retroactive connection? As in, the creator of Death Parade purposefully tried to make it fit into the Death Note canon?
I can accept that explenation. Since Death Parade is the land after Death where people are either sent Mu or reincarnaited. No character would know of it and simply refers to it as nothingingness, since its stated that even Shinigami don't know what happens after death
In Death Note, we see that the Shinigami realm is basically a desolate wasteland, and near the beginning we see a zoom out of the place, revealing tons of other bored Shinigami. could it be that when Souls are sent to the void, they lose their memories like Light and become Shinigami?

STAHP Yeah it's only like 64 or more a day. Game Theory or Rather Film Theory actually just did a thing on it and while it could have doubled in the time after L's death it still wasn't 700 a day. So it would have to be plus deaths not related to Light's and other death note users activities besides to get that number.
There was an episode where 2 murderers came to Quindecim because everybody else was occupied. At normal circumstances, murderers wouldn't be sent to Decim because he lacked experience, but 2 of them were sent, which suggests that Light may be behind this. We all know that Light kills too many criminals.
Something that backs up the theory that Light became Shinigami that hasn't really been covered is the second death note. Ryuk gave Light a death note that he'd obtained after another shinigami died (because Shinigami have to kill, or they'll perish). Which makes sense, considering Ryuk would need his own death note, or he'd die. He wouldn't just give Light his only death note. In your previous video, you said the human-shinigami link was necessary for the shinigami to not become extinct (and keep reproducing). Perhaps the shinigami-human link draws shinigami back to the human world, where they were meant to give death notes without owners to humans, so that they can take the places of the perished shinigami. Their own fascination with humanity IS their reproductive logic.

here's another theory I have as we know from death note what happens to you once you die is different from all other humans what if you are split up into two pieces and one piece becomes a Shinigami and the other becomes an Arbitrator as it is stated Arbitrators have no need for emotions so the emotions become the Shinigami and the soul becomes an Arbitrator
With the announcement and trailers of the Death Note movie I had a conversation (argument) on reddit about whether or not Light should/could be judged like a normal human, given the supernatural power that he possessed. I'm in the camp that he couldn't be judged and found it interesting that such a philosophy could be woven into the innerworkings of a connected universe. I haven't seen Death Parade, but given your basic synopsis I should check it out!
In the anime they mention that Light's actions had an effect on world's violence statistics, including wars, so even if he were killing around 200 hundred ppl an hour(which is very unlikely, since he not only has to write people's names, he also has to know a bit about them before deciding to kill them), in the end you'd have less ppl dying overall.
Based on how Nona sometimes makes people pair with other people that aren’t really supposed to, it’s possible she would make light go against L even though they died at such different times

I have a very interesting theory: I remember in the Death Parade anime, in episode 5, as Nona is leaving Oculus to an unfinished game of pool and Oculus says he doesn't want her to leave, she says, "Why don't you just ask God to play with you?" and Oculus replies with "I'm afraid God has been gone for a long time now..." Ok, so when Light was alive and he obtained the Death Note, he started increasing the rate as to how people died and this obviously made the arbiters and others work harder to store memories and judge some people. They praised this being as he controlled how much they had to work and can instantly increase or decrease it. When Light died, he came to the afterlife with Teru Mikami because they basically died together and it makes sense as they go the afterlife in pairs. The amount of deaths suddenly goes back to normal and the arbiters know it has something to do with the pair that just arrived. They ask them, and Light tells them with pride that he is the one who killed all those people, not revealing how. They bow down to him and tell him that they have worshiped him for having such a power. He tells them I am God and they believe him. The arbiters tell him to stay in this land of deceased with them and they will worship him. He refuses and instead, tells them to reincarnate him. They do as he says, and he is born as another human. Teru is probably sent to the void. They give him back his memories before he goes so he remembers his past life. When Light is old enough, he starts writing in the Death Note again and the arbiters realize this and know it is him. So, when Ginti shows Mayu a picture of Light, he is just tricking her, because that Light no longer exists. And when Nona tells Oculus to play with God, he says he's been gone for a long time because Light had probably come to the afterlife in his past form 13 to 14 years ago. This theory might have some holes in it but I when I heard that line in episode 5, I thought it would reveal who God is later in the season and thought that would be a plot line, but it was never revealed so I made my own theory from it.
As much as I love both of these shoes, I never made this connection with the death figures. Brilliant deduction, I'm seeing Light's cameo in a whole new… …light.

6:08 There is no hard rule about having two people being judged at the same time. Look at the Storyteller where they play old maid. Or even Chiuki's judgement. Now I know that is a special situation but regardless. I did pick out Light's picture right away and thought maybe it was just fan-service but there's a lot about the Death Parade universe we don't know about. Even when Deccim has to judge the two killers... its considered a special situation. There was a panel in 2017 from the company that made Death Note and Death Parade talking about their work and future plans. I asked about this issue in Death Parade and they said different Arbiters from different floors handle other types of situations. Deccim was still part of Nona''s "Experiment" so she let him handle that one. I also asked about a sequel not only for Death Parade but even another Death Note. They wouldn't give me an answer on a sequel except shrugs and smiles so I hope they do. I don't know with the Death Note movie if it means they would have to buy the rights back or how that works but there's so much more story to be told in those worlds!

I've been hoping for a Death Note sequel in which shinigami Light wrecks havoc on both the human and shinigami realms for over 10 years. The setup and implications of it in the few brief scenes we get of the shinigami realm in Death Note are just too perfect. Adding the Arbiters into the mix makes it even more intriguing.

It's more like in Death Note universe, there is no such thing as Heaven nor Hell, which is something Light very cleverly points out when Ryuk explained that Death Note users won't be able to enter Heaven or Hell and can only go to the void. This fits well with Death Parade, which is shown that there is no Heaven nor Hell after death, only void or reincarnation. With this, we can assume that Light went straight to the void without the need to be judged.
This is not an original theory. It's one that came up at least 2 years prior to this video and was presented by other you tubers and on death note forums. I like Anime theories but. think it's pretty poor that Duo has never credited anyone for a theory that is DEFINITELY not his.
Now my memory of death parade is washed, and this is a 5 year old video, but I wanted to suggest something. I think it was the main character (or a main-side character I can't remember) was a human that died, and ended up becoming somebody who helped or at least stayed in quindecim and wasn't judged. The same could have happened with light, as he can't be judged, and is shown to be in quindecim to be a test instead of being sent to heaven or hell.

Your theory sounds really good but I want to point out a fault out of sheer logic. So about the death rate increase like around 700 deaths an hour, so let us suppose Light was responsible for around half of it say 400 deaths per hour. This means light killed 9600 people per day, let's say it is atleast 5000 people per day. This is not believable , Light killed anyone who committed crime but it can still not be that much, if so he would run out of pages of the death note really fast. And as I said it is only logic. His after death theory makes sense a lot of though.

I can accept that explenation. Since Death Parade is the land after Death where people are either sent Mu or reincarnaited. No character would know of it and simply refers to it as nothingingness, since its stated that even Shinigami don't know what happens after death

In Death Note, we see that the Shinigami realm is basically a desolate wasteland, and near the beginning we see a zoom out of the place, revealing tons of other bored Shinigami. could it be that when Souls are sent to the void, they lose their memories like Light and become Shinigami?

There was an episode where 2 murderers came to Quindecim because everybody else was occupied. At normal circumstances, murderers wouldn't be sent to Decim because he lacked experience, but 2 of them were sent, which suggests that Light may be behind this. We all know that Light kills too many criminals.
Just watch L's death scene. You will see multiple halos which are also present behind Decim's bar.
I was confused for a bit, but I see the halos(in Death Parade) is also actually the stained glass from Death Note.

Something that backs up the theory that Light became Shinigami that hasn't really been covered is the second death note. Ryuk gave Light a death note that he'd obtained after another shinigami died (because Shinigami have to kill, or they'll perish). Which makes sense, considering Ryuk would need his own death note, or he'd die. He wouldn't just give Light his only death note.
In your previous video, you said the human-shinigami link was necessary for the shinigami to not become extinct (and keep reproducing). Perhaps the shinigami-human link draws shinigami back to the human world, where they were meant to give death notes without owners to humans, so that they can take the places of the perished shinigami. Their own fascination with humanity IS their reproductive logic.

With the announcement and trailers of the Death Note movie I had a conversation (argument) on reddit about whether or not Light should/could be judged like a normal human, given the supernatural power that he possessed. I'm in the camp that he couldn't be judged and found it interesting that such a philosophy could be woven into the innerworkings of a connected universe. I haven't seen Death Parade, but given your basic synopsis I should check it out!
It's really worth checking out. I love it personally, even made it into my top 20 anime of all time. =D

In the anime they mention that Light's actions had an effect on world's violence statistics, including wars, so even if he were killing around 200 hundred ppl an hour(which is very unlikely, since he not only has to write people's names, he also has to know a bit about them before deciding to kill them), in the end you'd have less ppl dying overall.
Based on how Nona sometimes makes people pair with other people that aren’t really supposed to, it’s possible she would make light go against L even though they died at such different times

I have a very interesting theory:
I remember in the Death Parade anime, in episode 5, as Nona is leaving Oculus to an unfinished game of pool and Oculus says he doesn't want her to leave, she says, "Why don't you just ask God to play with you?" and Oculus replies with "I'm afraid God has been gone for a long time now..."
Ok, so when Light was alive and he obtained the Death Note, he started increasing the rate as to how people died and this obviously made the arbiters and others work harder to store memories and judge some people. They praised this being as he controlled how much they had to work and can instantly increase or decrease it. When Light died, he came to the afterlife with Teru Mikami because they basically died together and it makes sense as they go the afterlife in pairs. The amount of deaths suddenly goes back to normal and the arbiters know it has something to do with the pair that just arrived. They ask them, and Light tells them with pride that he is the one who killed all those people, not revealing how. They bow down to him and tell him that they have worshiped him for having such a power. He tells them I am God and they believe him. The arbiters tell him to stay in this land of deceased with them and they will worship him. He refuses and instead, tells them to reincarnate him. They do as he says, and he is born as another human. Teru is probably sent to the void. They give him back his memories before he goes so he remembers his past life. When Light is old enough, he starts writing in the Death Note again and the arbiters realize this and know it is him. So, when Ginti shows Mayu a picture of Light, he is just tricking her, because that Light no longer exists. And when Nona tells Oculus to play with God, he says he's been gone for a long time because Light had probably come to the afterlife in his past form 13 to 14 years ago.
This theory might have some holes in it but I when I heard that line in episode 5, I thought it would reveal who God is later in the season and thought that would be a plot line, but it was never revealed so I made my own theory from it.

6:08 There is no hard rule about having two people being judged at the same time. Look at the Storyteller where they play old maid. Or even Chiuki's judgement. Now I know that is a special situation but regardless. I did pick out Light's picture right away and thought maybe it was just fan-service but there's a lot about the Death Parade universe we don't know about. Even when Deccim has to judge the two killers... its considered a special situation. There was a panel in 2017 from the company that made Death Note and Death Parade talking about their work and future plans. I asked about this issue in Death Parade and they said different Arbiters from different floors handle other types of situations. Deccim was still part of Nona''s "Experiment" so she let him handle that one. I also asked about a sequel not only for Death Parade but even another Death Note. They wouldn't give me an answer on a sequel except shrugs and smiles so I hope they do. I don't know with the Death Note movie if it means they would have to buy the rights back or how that works but there's so much more story to be told in those worlds!
I really hope your theory is true. Because I would love to see a continuation. I had a feeling that both of these might be some how connected. I thought I was seeing things when I seen what looks like Light.

I've been hoping for a Death Note sequel in which shinigami Light wrecks havoc on both the human and shinigami realms for over 10 years. The setup and implications of it in the few brief scenes we get of the shinigami realm in Death Note are just too perfect. Adding the Arbiters into the mix makes it even more intriguing.

It's more like in Death Note universe, there is no such thing as Heaven nor Hell, which is something Light very cleverly points out when Ryuk explained that Death Note users won't be able to enter Heaven or Hell and can only go to the void. This fits well with Death Parade, which is shown that there is no Heaven nor Hell after death, only void or reincarnation. With this, we can assume that Light went straight to the void without the need to be judged.

Now my memory of death parade is washed, and this is a 5 year old video, but I wanted to suggest something. I think it was the main character (or a main-side character I can't remember) was a human that died, and ended up becoming somebody who helped or at least stayed in quindecim and wasn't judged. The same could have happened with light, as he can't be judged, and is shown to be in quindecim to be a test instead of being sent to heaven or hell.

Your theory sounds really good but I want to point out a fault out of sheer logic. So about the death rate increase like around 700 deaths an hour, so let us suppose Light was responsible for around half of it say 400 deaths per hour. This means light killed 9600 people per day, let's say it is atleast 5000 people per day. This is not believable , Light killed anyone who committed crime but it can still not be that much, if so he would run out of pages of the death note really fast. And as I said it is only logic. His after death theory makes sense a lot of though.
