  • I finally found the time to do a timelapse of the milky way. Shot with Panasonic Lumix G9 and Laowa 7.5mm on tripod and Pansonic Lumix G7 and Samyang 12mm on SYRP Genie Mini II motion controller. I testet different settings, but forgot to capture dark frames for post processing and a longer exposure of the foreground. I am quite happy so far, but there is still room to improve.

Pretty cool mate. I want to get the 8-18 so this might be another cool way of using it.

Thanks. Should be very doable with the 8-18 too. 8-18 has way less coma than the Laowa, which is good for Astro. The only thing I don't like about the Laowa.
Samyang 12mm is good at coma though and that's way I still have not sold it.

Really nice indeed!. Ant ideas on powering my G9 with a powerbank to enable me to make timelapse in the day outside with more shots than 1 standard battery will take? Can I just plug in a powerbank and run as if indoors on mains power? Thanks. Tony

As long as your power bank provides enough watts it should work. Also you need to enable "USB power supply" in the settings menue.

Awesome Timelapses ... I got the same setup, but i cannot get the syrp fire the G9 trough the 1P link cable ... was it easy on your side ? Plug and play ?

Hello! My first SYRP does fine. The second one I bought with the pan/tilt arm does not... don't know if there is a fix for this. It does not fire in video though, only in photo mode.

hi, did you use the separate remote control timer shutter or internal time-lapse function of G9? I use G9 timelapse function and set the Shutter speed for 20sec with an interval for 1 sec. I find it doesn't work, G9 just skips the number of frames.

Hello, I use the internal timelapse function. You have to set the interval at least as long as your shutter speed. I would add one second to give the camera a little bit of extra time for processing.

@@TeaJayPhotography Thank you. I get your point, but it will take a longer time.

    • @TeaJayPhotography

You can't make it faster. Interval of 20 sec with a shutter of 20 sec means the camera takes one photo every 20 seconds with no waiting time in between the photos. It does not mean that it takes the photo, waits 20 sec and takes the next.

Thanks for you tips, but in case, exposure 20sec with interval 20sec, that means I need to wait for 20 sec between each exposure. i am using G9 with firmware 2.1. my solution will be buying a remote timer shutter.

You should do a review of all your minolta glass. I am curious to see which one you use the most.

If I only had the time... but for some lenses I will do this.

Thanks! Yes It was, despite the facts I had to change locations, because the first one wasn't good and my headlight stopped worked just after arriving. So I lost about an hour of shooting.
