    Samis and Vikings are not linked. The Sami are indigenous to Siberia, they went to Scandinavia 3000 years ago. The norse people are indigenous to Scandinavia because it is there their unique strand of Indo-European came to be through the mixing of the hunter gatherers there since right after the Ice Age and the Yamnaya people who brought the horse there. That is why the Norwegian Fjord Horse is related to ancient breeds from as far east as Mongolia despite not being a modernly bred breed.
    The Sami entered Scandinavia after this.
    Regarding the actual viking foods, they date back way further than the viking age. They ate the same fauna and plants since even before the Bronze Age, though it truly developed during the Nordic Bronze Age because of the betetr tools, richer petty kingdoms, and larger gatherings of communities thanks to minimal farming.

    • @Austrian_Painters_TopGuy
      @Austrian_Painters_TopGuy День назад

      This is correct, the video is wrong that Sami are indigenous to Scandinavia, they are not. Nordics and Finns are indigenous here, and the Saami arrived "recently" (3-5 thousand years ago, but compared to Norse and Finns being here at least 40 thousand years thats recent)
      Still, both are hwite peopIe so its safe to assume we descend from the same distant ancestor race if you go back far enough, maybe a hundred thousand years

      @be2Gee 3 года назад +3

      @Ma x Never tasted reindeer meat, says the one who claims it to be the most expensive meat in Norway lol. Reindeer meat is fairly cheap in Norway. It cost under kr.100 for 400 grams of skavet Reinsdyrkjøtt, sold in just about any grocery store. Often on discount for 50-60 kr, barely more than minced beef. Perfect for pizza, taco, gyros, pasta etc, mix it with taco mix, some sauce or whatever you prefer and you have a simple, quick, cheap and delicious meal. When I'm in Norway I use reindeer meat several times a week... Stroganoff, viltgryte, finnbiff with mashed potatoes and pytt-i-panne are some other recipes I use reindeer meat for. It's perfect and it's cheap... So much you can use it for, make it the way you want it. I've almost replaced any other meat entirely with reindeer meat. Probably what I miss the most when I'm in Thailand.

      It's just a woke thing they do since samis love cultural praise. It's the part of the whole "native american" comparrison delusion alot of modern samis and Americans have. Can't talk about Norway for a second without making sure to praise their "natives". They don't know the history, they just think it's the same as in America. In reality it is more like the opposite. The Scandinavians were in Scandinavia before the Samis, and they don't have a bloody history with eachother. But they can't resist being woke.

      More indigenous than the sami. By the time the samis entered Scandinavia the Nordic Bronze Age was already at its height. And we know they explored and conquered all of Norway since we have found Bronze Age houses as far north as Tromsø. The sami are more accurately indigenous to Siberia in Russia.
