Yes, I was worried about "ruining" my child's education as well. But worst case scenario... I'll hire a tutor for an hour on whatever subject they're struggling with. Just to get us back on track.
Thank you very much for this video! I'm new in this world of Homeschooling and I feel so stressful for all the things I have to learn and do. My boys are 4 and 2 years old, so I have time, now I'm in peace. Trusting in God.
Dina!! Thank you for that bonus tip! I needed that today. Im a 2nd year homeschool Mama, who happens to be pregnant with #4, and everyday I have to ask the Lord to give me all the strength, grace and patience! He loves us so well, and I know I couldn't do this without his love!
Hi dear sister, I love you videos. You are so sweet. I love the way you share and encourage. I was so blessed watching your videos. Thank you so much for doing that. God bless you today and during your journey with your lovely family.🦋❤️
Thank you so much for your videos. They are so informative for a new homeschooler like me! I decided this past month to pull my 7 year old son out of a private military school. I was extremely nervous to begin this journey but I found your videos... we went with the good and the beautiful curriculum, they arrive this week! We are so excited.
We love audiobooks also! So us Momma’s can eat too 😅 I am so thankful for these tips, especially that some seasons of homeschool will look different! I just had a new baby and I’ve been hard on myself for skipping out on days. I would love a video about homeschooling with a new addition! ❤️
Oh, Dina, I love you! I love your tips, and your bloopers always make me laugh. I'm so glad you're back, but I am equally glad that you took a break when you and your family needed it. ♥️🤗
You are Amazing and a Blessing, I believe God led me too you so you can motivate me. This will be my first year homeschooling this fall. I'm excited and moved by your wonderful Videos. Thanks
This was very helpful. Starting pre-K in September but been teaching her for a while now. Going to take it easy for the first couple of years because she is young.
I've even homeschooling for almost two years now... and you have definitely helped me. Your videos and shared experience, has really helped me get a moving and trying things out for my family... thank you so much for your videos. Always looking forward for your wisdom and advice. God bless
Just started homeschooling in January. I'm also a university student (started late, but almost there! Thank our Lord and Savior!). I looked specifically for open and go curriculum because I have little confidence in myself as a teacher. I was so happy to see that our math and English curriculums were scripted in very simple language. We use Saxon math and Shurley English. Saxon math has been wonderful for our kiddos, and Shurley English is good, but I may try using a different curriculum because some of the teaching is a little choppy and unnatural for us. We also decided that on Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri, we do math, English, Latin and Handwriting, and on Wed, we do book reporting, social studies and science. We have found that it's a great way to take it easy and break up the week. Science has definitely been fun because I just find something that is relevant to their lives and we do a science experiment around it. Last week, we did the water cycle and were so surprised that the water cycle purifies water. We did another week where we learned about how cake rises, and they learned about how acids and bases react to each other. It was such a fun time and the kids raved about it for the whole week! My kiddos, (ages 11, 8, 8 and 5) tell me once a week how much they love homeschooling. By no means am I a perfect homeschooler who has everything together, but I think they just know that I care and I can really take time to adjust their learning in a way they prefer and understand best, and they feel more confident because of that. I will say though, the deschooling was REAL. There were behaviors that they were able to get away with because they were shielded by other more disruptive students, and I think a lot of teachers would rather allow undesirable behavior to occur than risk having angry parents come at them. But since I am the teacher and the parent, and I only deal with 3-4 children and not 25, the kiddos can't just get away with the undesirable behaviors.
Dina I really needed this video, those tips, especially that first one! God truly has a plan and I’m anxious but excited for my kiddos and I, with homeschooling this year! This is new to me. I always wanted to be homeschooled! Is that weird??!! Hahaha We just moved to the great state of Texas and I am just wanting to gain confidence and take on this new journey for my kiddos and I! They’re 4 and 5
Thank you so much for the video, I needed to see your video. I am a single mom of 2 assuming boys 5 and 4. I started homeschooling when I place my older son in preschool and within 1 month I realize it was not for him. My son has a diagnosis of autism highly functional and ADHD. I started when my older son was 3 it was simply reading books and abcs mostly playing. He learned to read by the age 3 by focusing on the sounds. However because I am a single mom and work full time, I feel that I am not doing enough. However I seen the benefits of homeschooling my 5 year old is reading at 2 grade level and my 4 old years old is reading simple words. I see how happy they are but my 5 year old tell me he wants to go to school. To be honest with you it scared me to place him in school, I feel that schools do not have the patience with special needs children. Ot will probably be easier to place him in school but I don’t know if that is the best for my children. Thank you so much for the video I love your videos they inspire me.
Hi Dina! Thanks for the wonderful video. I’m a new homeschool mom with a 3 years old, a 1.5 years old and a baby due this Aug. I brought my 3 year old to church Sunday school but he kept crying and didn’t want to stay at Sunday school at all which is only 1 hour. I think it’s because he’s with me all the time and never being to daycare before. I’m wondering if you have any issue like this? Kids don’t want to leave you
Hi! At that age I would just read a lot of books. I know it's exciting to start, but he is still pretty young. ❤ Just do sensory play and teach him how to do age appropriate chores around the house. At that age, play is his school. 😁
hahaha@the crickets in the bloopers - YES- thank you, Jesus!! ✊😅 And thank you SO MUCH for this list, sweet lady. ….but what I want a little “help” with is … what if you’re feeling led to homeschool your 5yo -as you’ve always been his teacher anyway!- but your husband is not convinced you are capable… like, you can’t be trusted to be responsible enough to provide his child with a “quality education.” Not to brag too much, but our son knows a lot about God, Jesus, the Bible, plus he knows how to read at about a 3rd grade level(!!!), can count to 100 and knows some addition, subtraction, and even the concept of multiplying… yada yada … I can brag all day (and so can anyone who meets this amazing young man!!) but I have so far to go as far as home upkeep and daily routines before my husband will feel comfortable putting our son’s education solely in my hands. I want nothing more than to continue to be his educator and ensure that he has a strong knowledge of our God and Christian faith … and I’m working hard to show my husband that I’ve got the chops / got what it takes - and that this calling is LEGIT. I can’t convince his *heart,* for only God can speak to him on that level. But I can show him that his concerns are not necessary, for keeping up with what I’ve already been doing with/for our son is truly in his best interest.
"you're not going to ruin your child." That's so big and needed to hear that. 💯💙 hit my heart. Thanks for putting emphasis on that.
