  • In this program, Loyola University Chicago Graduate Student Caroline Lauber discusses her research process and contributions to the History Center's exhibition "Deeply Rooted & Rising High: African American Experiences in Lake Forest."
Caroline goes into detail regarding personal ties to historical research, academic journey, and her public history internship at the History Center of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff & subsequent involvement in preparations for the exhibition. Having conducted research on the Open Housing Ordinance of 1968, the McIntosh family, among other topics, to support the overall exhibit narrative, Caroline’s experience in researching and writing for this exhibit has shaped her personally and professionally as a historian. With the foundation of this internship, she is eager for her next steps in the public history field.
Caroline Lauber is a recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago’s M.A. Public History program. In her academic work, Caroline is committed to telling untold and underrepresented stories in US history with emphasis on the Civil Rights Movement. She hopes to pursue a career in the museum field, specifically in regard to education, advocacy, and social justice.
