Mind Blowing Pressure Demo That Will Stump Your Students!

Another awesome demo that I love to do using a plate, drinking glass, candle and colored water! This demo is all about the warm air and low pressure created by the candle compared to the cold air of the classroom and the high pressure! Energy will travel from the high pressure to the low pressure and that’s why the water gets sucked up into the glass!

If the air heats up and expands, wouldnt the pressure be increasing inside the glass?

No, warm air is decreasing pressure. The air warms and expands until the candle goes out. At that point, the air instantly contracts and that’s the point where the water gets sucked into the glass
