Charlie tries to defuse in a polite and friendly way. Sam throws the attitude right back at them. Josh calls in the heavies and enjoys the fallout. This scene is consistent with their characters.

@@veramae4098 It was a function of the plot -- it required that the college jackasses be clueless about who they're dealing with. Sam & Josh might have names that are well-known to political junkies, but none of them have particularly famous faces... except for Zoe (which the script dealt with by having her say "You're kidding, right?") and except for CJ the Press Secretary. So because the screenplay required it, CJ was kept out of the scene until the last minute.
In reality, two adult women in a crowded bar with a 19 year-old? Unless they were completely ditzy, they would have absolutely kept Zoe in their line of sight the whole time. Not saying the men wouldn't also have done so, but women definitely cover each other's backs in that kind of situation.
Anyway, it wasn't the first time in Season 1 that CJ's intelligence was demeaned for script purposes. I especially enjoyed episode 1.6, where the script needed to explain the US Census to the audience, so Sorkin chose the character who's a supposed expert in polling modeling with a masters from Berkeley as the person who didn't know anything about it and picked the corporate M&A lawyer as the person to explain it to her, instead of the other way around.

I remember that Michelle Obama said that the daughters were not allowed to enter any car that was not driven by the Secret service. I guess the parents and teachers at the private school had been checked out. Michelle said their friends could hop into their car (Motorcade ?) Also Obama was not allowed to drive while he was the president. Always driven by the Secret Service.

If the President's kid went to Georgetown University, the Secret Service would have intel on every bar in Georgetown, layout, ingress/egress, and background on almost every employee in the place. They likely had plainclothes already in the bar when Zoe got there.

I think he pressed the button as soon as they recognize Zoey. The rest of it was just talk, but as soon as one of them recognized that she was POTUS' daughter, that's when the security threat became real, and he pushed it. You notice he immediately drew the attention back to himself and explained the bad night they were having.

I don't know why, but I love this scene. There used to be a college kids / motorcycle bar called Crowbar around GW campus. Never saw a problem there. College kids held the bar, greasers held the pool room. But lots of cross communication. Way cool! Honestly, I think the cyclists would protect most of the kids, in a pinch.

The things people can remember about characters in movies & actors entire lives and it just never stops with some of them. I have met some that were truly incredible in thier knowledge. I keep thinking, wow, they must spend all thier time doing this to know all these facts and interwoven characters. There have been a few that just never stopped linking everything together endlessly. I could only sit there and listen. Amazed and stunned that anyone would or could collect all these bits of knowledge. Movie & music lore affecinadoes definitely.

That is the first plot hole. I assume that whoever wrote this first was going on his memories of college bars, rather than recent experience (recent from then, at least). Nowadays, she would be carded before they remembered her order, and probably before she picked it up. And 17 yo would be well too young.

Charlie literally offered to buy the obvious predatory man pack a round. In bar talk that's basically saying "hey man. you don't want any problems. I don't want any problems. Can we just drink?"
