    I like the sped up packing video, and how you paused for a second to show materials and how you were applying them. Like the type and size of box , the extra thick foam on front of receiver and extra cardboard support in corners. I hope you add this shipping sped up videos to more of your next videos maybe at the end for items that look tricky to ship, like golf clubs, glass bowls, books, ect. 😎👍

    I had one guy shipping me a big receiver in an oversized box without any other packing material. Crazy!
    The receiver still made it alive but had some dents.

      The way some seller conduct themselves is truly shocking, im glad it somewhat survived.

    No padding around the receiver though. Just a thin layer of bubble wrap.

    Using paper for a filler is worthless, packing peanuts are worthless. Heavy stuff will just crush both and will not be protected.

    Very helpful, thank you! What would you do differently prep or packing for a high-end turntable?

    • @TipoftheMittFlips
      @TipoftheMittFlips  2 года назад +2

      The only thing different for turntables is that they have a few moving parts that can come loose during shipping. So either secure or remove the plate, arm, cover, and anything else that may move around during shipping.

    I put a very deep scratch in my receiver from unpacking something like this. There was so much tape and bubble wrap it was just crazy. The tape was stuck to the casing and pulled some of the veneer off and left residue all over that I had to remove. When I got the package there was so much movement inside and the bubble wrap was deflated on the corners and on one side. There was also a small dent on the back corner on the same side where all the weight was. Do use bubble wrap people. It does not hold up in shipping.

      I’m sorry that you had such a poor experience. Possibly they used inferior products. I’ve had a 100% success rate for over 3 years doing it this way.

    Shipping vintage electronics (stereos) some weighing 50lbs or so needs solid padding. No paper padding, loose popcorn materials. Item should not shift inside the box. Instead first wrap in heavy duty bubble wrap, using firm density solid styrofoam layered TIGHTLY in heavy thick shipping double boxed. Just me. Thx for posting. Delivery people will drop a 50lb object, believe that. Some of these vintage stereos cost over $ thousands. Don’t cheapen on shipping containers.

    You do a fair job of packing the receiver but you sure do not put enough popcorn in the bottom of that receiver you know as well as I do that somebody's going to drop that box on the ground and there's not going to be enough padding there to protect the receiver you need to put more popcorn in the bottom that paper's not going to do it and if it does you'll be a Wonder you sure you don't pack the way I would

    Not nearly enough layers of bubble wrap on it. Not nearly enough peanuts, and with a heavy receiver that paper on the bottom will be squished to nothing in no time flat. A 25+ pound receiver will not last in shipping like this, maybe lightweight ones will be fine.

    • @TipoftheMittFlips

      @@TipoftheMittFlips some receivers weigh in at 25-30 lbs. The small one you wrapped like that is probably fine. I've seen several large ones destroyed because of bad packing.
