Ikr he doesn’t get to choose what Joey does, especially after he pushed her away from him. He didn’t own her or pacey and yeah I’m sure the situation sucked for him but he was so dramatic about it and tried to make them seem like awful people. They thought of him so much and were torn up about “betraying” him but it would’ve been wrong to deny their feelings for each other and be less happy than they could be.
Let's just remember who rejected who, first. At the end of the season before that he just tried to help her with her dad's situation but all she said was that she would never forget him, and now she's trying to show herself as the victim, noop

Ok, here’s my take on this. Dawson was too entitled. I could tell he wasn’t trying to be, but he still was. He just didn’t understand what it meant to have natural, humble, vulnerable, healthy, and equal human relationship. The entire time he always wanted things HIS way, and this was fine when he and Joey were friends because they had boundaries, but was WAY too problematic in their relationship. When they got together, he made it out to be this HUGE thing, always being like “woooaaahh we like each other??? What do we do about it???”. In his and Joey’s relationship, he didn’t get that it wasn’t all about him, and he spent way too much time reacting then actually contributing to their relationship. Dawson idolized Joey weirdly, treating her like some character in one of his movies that HE created. He didnt even care about her thoughts or feelings, just about what benefited him and what HE liked. Yes, he was considerate of Joey at some points, but that was only when he recognized the “best friend” side of their relationship, in which they had boundaries. In contrast, Pacey understood what it meant to be human, and loved Joey for HER, not the idea of her like Dawson did. The thing that made Joey and Pacey’s relationship so great is that they fully understood and loved each other, and in addition to that they contributed to their relationship equally. Yes, like Joey and Dawson’s relationship, there were some speed bumps in their relationship but these were ultimately overcome much faster because Joey and Pacey worked together to cooperate and forgive each other. Instead of being so dramatic and selfish like Dawson was after every single stupid, small argument. In the end, Joey and Pacey were humble, compassionate, and caring towards each other and they didn’t reject each other for their mistakes. They were humble and loved and loved each other for who they were. Dawson just didn’t get it. Ok, maybe I got too invested in this. But yeah, these r my thoughts lol.

I always thought she looked more happier and more relaxed with pacey. Dawson always put Joey on this pedestal on this movie perfect pedestal. She couldn’t be selfish, she couldn’t think for herself. She had to involve Dawson in everything. Well pacey loved her her for her, for her faults, for her stubbornness for her imperfections. He always encouraged. And yea he let his insecurities get to him but he also knew he needed to let Joey go because his insecurities where making him start to resent her, he knew he needed the cut the chord. The time I liked Dawson the most is when he was with Jen in college after he lost his father. The writers were so intent on keeping the dumb love triangle going that they failed miserably when it came to Dawson. The whole soulmate thing was silly and just a way for Dawson to still have some claim on Joey when they could have just agreed It was okay for them to always have a connection and be there for each other. I'm so glad they had Pacy and Joey end up together, but it sucks they never let Dawson move on.

Yes totally agree ! I loved when he was with Jen it’s only time you saw him still learning about relationships but maturing at the same time. Im Team Pacey all the way. Together Pacey and Joey proved to be one of greatest love stories ever put on TV. Dawson screwed up by rejecting Joey like a common strumpet. That showed a complete lack of respect for Joey that would show its ugly head again and again. Dawson never worked to earn Joeys love or respect. But Pacey went an entire season proving his worth over and over. In the course of 2 years: Dawson guilted Joey do not going to Paris, sent her dad to jail, turned down Joey only to try and screw Jen’s sister and then told Joey to pick him or he wouldn’t be friends with her anymore
he DID not guilted her to not go to paris, he did not sent her dad to jail, turning her down was the right and he did nto TRY to screw jen sister as he had many chance BUT turn her down.
What I don't get is Dawson rejected her then told Pacey to take care of her. And he did what any best friend would do and did that very well. But he also did what any guy would do and fell in love with the girl who got her heartbroken!! So what was Dawson's train of thought here?!?!!

This show was annoying because the love triangle kept going around for season on and on.. like damn Joey just pick someone! She played with paceys feelings wayyy to much. The poor guy kept getting rejected in the last season until she finally chose him in the end. I personally think the show should’ve been called Joey across the creek because it was basically about her lol anyways does anyone else get annoyed by joeys facial expressions she does sometimes? Like the lip thing she does really irks me. Ok that’s my rant!

Im Team Pacey all the way. Together Pacey and Joey proved to be one of greatest love stories ever put on TV. Dawson screwed up by rejecting Joey like a common strumpet. That showed a complete lack of respect for Joey that would show its ugly head again and again. Dawson never worked to earn Joeys love or respect. But Pacey went an entire season proving his worth over and over.
If Dawson really cared about Joeys happiness, he would've kicked Pacey in the butt for what happened at prom and told him to get his s**t together for her sake. But no. Dawson literally took that opportunity to move in and steal her away.
