    What I really like about Saint Petersburg are the colours of the buildings in the city centre, especially with a cloudless sky and the autumn colours of the trees. I can imagine that every season has its own charms in this city. For me, Saint Petersburg is the most beautiful, or at least one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Moscow is also one of the many other Russian cities. I also think that since President Vladimir Putin came to power, the whole country has changed a lot and especially improved. For me, President Putin is, maybe after President Xi Jinping, the best president in the world!

    Baklykov, I have a doubt. is it possible to add classical feautures to a constructivist building? Have you ever seen something like that happen in St. Petersburg?

    • @baklykovlive
      @baklykovlive  27 дней назад

      The question is why?
      When they wanted a classical features they were constructing a building in the style of classicism. Constructivism must be minimalistic, brutal, strict and monumental.

      @@baklykovlive Like you mentioned, Constructivism here and there look not so bad, but if it is present almost everywhere makes it look depressing. I just wish that Krushchev never came to power, or there is a way to include classical features to Krushchevkas.

      @@morningstararun6278 do you know the reason he refused the neoclassical residential buildings?

      @@baklykovlive Yes, I know about the architectural excesses that Krushchev criticized, and also the Anti-Stalin rhetoric. How many monumental buildings did USSR not build because of Krushchev? The Eighth sister skyscraper, the Palace of the Soviets, and many others. I am not someone who hates the idea of rapidly housing everyone, with the use of constructivist mechanism. But who in their right mind would build such ugly boxes in cities like St. Petersburg and Moscow? No one would have any problems with Krushchevkas in the third tier cities, but putting them in the capital cities of each Republics, and that too, in very large numbers, gave a bad reputation of Soviet architecture and Socialism in general. Everyone started relating grey, depressing and dull buildings to Socialism. All thanks to Krushchev, and his ego to paint Stalin as an evil monster.
      Baklykov, I am not a Russian, so I may not know that much about the architectural history of Russia, like you do, but I am greatly biased towards Socialist Realism architecture of Stalin, and for good reasons. Stalin may have been an Atheist, but he was greatly inspired by the traditional Russian architecture. We call the 7 sister buildings as the Stalinist Ampir, but I just came to know that there existed a church in RSFSR before WW2, that looked exactly like the 7 sister buildings.

      @@morningstararun6278wrong. Its not about Khruschev ego. But about millions of Soviet people was needed their own private housing. That was still only 7 years after the most disastrous war in the history of humanity where the USSR got affected most of all.
