- Battle against Roy Mustang and Alex Louis Armstrong in Full Metal Alchemist and the Broken Angel
They're by far the hardest bosses in the whole game (optional bosses, though technically they are the final bosses...it just doesn't matter wether you lose or not, story-wise). Armstrong is quite predictable and easy to avoid, though at a low level his counterattacks can be so deadly, as well as with his 9999HP he can seem immortal at a low level as well. Roy is even more predictable, but he's so KH2 Sephiroth (made by Square-Enix, no wonder XD) with all his flame attacks, including his strongest one (meteor shower thing ._.), and he avoids you so much hitting him directly is an impossible thing, making him the hardest of the pair (and the game overall).
Anyways, that's the best strategy i have for them; attacking Armstrong with the Wind Dagger to do alot of combos for a quick frenzy attack, then repeat, and once he's over, using the cannons on Roy, and if there are no more reloaders (or he destroys them...one hit with you on top of it will do that) somehow manage to combo him with Al. I have a couple other strategies against them, but that's the fastest one (with the items i have), and as of right now i haven't managed nor know how to kill Roy before Armstrong (to get the Glass Samurai). I cut a little part of the video, because, as you can see at the end, the battle took me around 11 min. while the limit is 10. Nothing you should worry about though...just more cannon attacking :P
And yeah, the lvl99 is cheated and also the way i got to the battle (using that 'invisible' Cheat Menu on the main screen...the one with the flags and all), but i got the items in a way sorta complicated to explain here, and the battle itself is cheat-free. I 'CAN' beat them at level 40 without any sort of cheating, but that battle takes a little less than 2 hours and the strategy is still the same XD

I was watching the commentary for "Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos", and Travis Willingham was talking about this battle. He said, "I tried beating this maybe 20 to 30 times, over and over, listening to myself going 'It's no use! It's no use', and listening to me going 'SHUT UP!!!'. Argh, so ANNOYING!"
I only lasted a minute in this fight. So damn hard. Roy just by himself is bad enough, but having Armstrong there too just makes it worse!
I beat these guys in 34 minutes at level 66. I used a magic cap, plenty of elixir L's, and a lot of metal reloaders for the tank, but I finally got the demon fists for Al. :D

In the main menu (the one with the New Game-Load Game options), if you press Down while highlighting "Options", it'll choose you a hidden menu. Press X and you'll be able to go to any area you want, at any level.
If it doesn't works in your game, then i've heard that if you press Start from the controller 2 in a normal gameplay, it shows you a cheat menu as well. It doesn't works on mine though :/
It's actually possible to win at a low level using this very same strategy, you just need ALOT of items, especially the Metal Reloaders for Roy, and patience since it'll take HOURS XD And yeah, there's nothing you can do about her :'[ But you can still feel proud you pwned the 2 best State Alchemists, and you can get one of their pwnsome items :P
It's the same. After all, the battle wasn't about winning or losing, it was just for buying time and not letting Ed go through.

Not really D: Mine is a pirated version of the game, that i bought for like $2. I didn't even know it was neither english nor japanese until mid-game XD
But, while i can enter to the Cheat Menu, my game doesn't let you save when you finish the game (no New Game+), so i guess having the menu balances it out.
I'm not sure where you can download the song, if that's what you mean, but you can find the song (in a video) on my channel. It's called "Running" and it's the first song on the FMA Broken Angel OST
Yep, nothing changes whether you beat them or not, you just feel proud of it and get nice items :3
And yeah, both Roy and Armstrong's voices are in japanese, and the same goes for most voices XD The only parts in english are the items, menus, talk boxes, and Ed and Al's voices :P

The only "cheat" was giving myself lv99 automaticly, that's it, and that was more of the sake of a short battle to upload than anything. Or would you have preferred me to beat them at lv40-50, but have you watch a video of over a hour? XD

yeah you wont know but with the 2nd player remote you can press start and control alphone,and in devil may cry 3 the same with dantes doppleganger and virgil in that 1 boss fight.

You mean the final battle when Camilla fights you directly along with some blob thing? That chimera blob thing will always regenerate, but just kill it quickly since it's very weak, or don't bother about it and fight Camilla directly as long as you can still see her.

Wow nice job on beating them i have the game and had tried to beat them several times but was never able to. but how do you get the cheat screen up i have tried but was never able to do it.
The selection cursor thing. What i mean is, if you can press down enough to not see anymore what you're selecting, that's the debug menu. Otherwise your game doesn't has it.
Sorta...you can only transmutate certain objects in the areas, however, like 90% of the objects you'll see, apart from walls, are transmutable XD Each object can only be transmuted into something specific though...for example, you can only get a lance from some certain object, and a knife from another different one, not any item from any object.
@NortontheVirus Yeah, apparently, it only works in the Japanese or English Beta versions. In the full, original english one, it doesn't seem to work D:
It only works in the japanese version of the game (mine is a mix between english and japanese XD). In the Main Menu (the one with the New Game/Load), select the last option, and press Down once or twice. If the selection cursor disappeared, just press X and you'll be in the Cheat Menu, otherwise you just can't enter to it.

I remember battling Roy and Armstrong, man they wer hard. They really kicked my ass... If I remember this was the optional final battleafter you defeat Lust

It's actually alot in amount, not time. If you've pressed it like 20 times and it just keeps going up or staying there, then you don't have it.

Do you actually see the 'selection color' disappear as you press down? If you've tried enough times and pressed Down alot and still nothing, then maybe it's just not possible in your game :[ The Debug Mode doesn't works in all games somehow. But maybe you could try pressing Start on the controller port 2 while playing. I've heard that works too and it's another kind of Debug Menu, yet it doesn't work for me.
Question: How do you beat the Alchemy Brothers? I'm getting my ass handed to me every time I battle them!
For the first part, just run, run and keep running, and jump sometimes. You'll probably be hurt but don't worry much.
For the battle, just use the alchemy spike thingies over and over until it falls, then slash the crap out of it's stomach.
I've been looking for that song you speak of and I can't find a download... and good fight. I couldn't beat these guys without cheats...
Not really evil, and the pissed one is Edo :P They don't want him to ruin something, but Edo is so stubborn he wants to pass through even if it's by force, and obviously Roy and Armstrong aren't gonna give up by mere words.
You can lose or not and it's not really gonna change anything though...Roy and Armstrong were just supposed to buy some time.

Roy Mustang would kill the Elric brothers and Armstrong with barely any effort if he was at a distance.
Don't forget Camillia's voice (during the final battle).
Damn.. That sucks, I tried everything and still cant get it to work... Roy and Armstrong are almost invincible in my version then!

Not really, though it only works with certain versions, from what i can tell, japanese and pirate copies (if you pay attention, my game is half english half japanese XD). My game doesn't have a New Game+ option, so if yours allow the New Game+ (saving after the credits), then chances are you don't have the cheat menu :/
Colonel were a BEAST to kill .... at least major wasn't as quick as him.
I fought them for 2 hours as a level25..I was only doing one damage but I focused on roy first, I got him damaged enough for him to start getting seriouse (alot of fireballs)
must one be if or if level 99 to defeat Mustang and Armstrong? Because I do not want to do the trick of improving of level and of experience.
Wow. Even though you were level 99, beating these guys is a feat. I'm trying to beat them at level 25-30 right now. So far, I have beaten Armstrong, and beaten Roy halfway...
Go to the main menu (the one with New Game, Load and Options), then press Down until you can't see the color selection, then press X. Doesn't works with all games though :/

@EasleyRigaldo The only way to level up faster is to obtain some item called the Moon Medal, or something close to it. It can only be obtained by beating the game, so forfeit the fight with these two, get the Medal, and train in the area after beating the fully armored alchemist before reaching the end. That's how I did it.
is the end the same as loseing to them or is it different?
Well, if you liked the 2nd one and want some more FMA, i recommend it :P It's a fun and nice game, not really hard though difficult at times.

dud its not cuz of the sword wep thing its cuz if u attack armstrong his attacks get more dangerus and so do roys but if u kill roy and attack him more his attacks get more dangerus but not arm strongs also how u get debug menu cheat thing that and a good way to kill him is by in the sencond last battle wit that werid chick get the circuler wepon i think its an upgraded boomerang and then just repeditly throw that at roy until he dies
Hey, I tried getting into debug mode for the game but it never works. I tried pressing Down and then X and i keep getting the Options menu still. Whats wrong?

If you have the American version of the game, you can't do it D: You can only do it if you have the japanese version, or a hacked version which has the japanese voices but english text, like mine.
actually you didnt have to fight them. i fought them almost an hour and they were still alive. then i got defeated and i thought i had to fight them again but instead the next cutscene came. probably you already knew.
I find it easy on this fight to abuse special attacks. Works like a charm! Also, abuse the machine gun! The machine gun can easily defeat Rot and Gelb. Then Blau is easy to beat hand-to-hand. Finally, Rockblockers are your freind! Put 3 up around your machine gun and the armors will have a hard time breaking them. Finally, dont just let Al die. If he lives, you can get Frenzy and lots of special attacks to abuse! He is also better at aiming a mounted weapon than you!

Make good use of objects you can alchemize. They have low HP so a few cannon balls or arrows will deal with them.

god, defeating them took my time, and i defeat mustang first, using wind dagger on both of them (and the loot wasn't worthy either....)

This game came before Curse of The Crimson Elixir, hence why the game is called Fullmetal Alchemist 2 Curse of The Crimson Elixir.

Cheat using the debug menu thing, i explained in a comment already how to enter to it. And on that file i have just 9 min of gameplay XD It would take you like...70 hours to get to lv99 XP
