Apple is the best example of 'ecosystem profit > standalone product profit'. Jio's going to get there, step by step. What sets Jio and Apple apart is their target demographic for profits; Apple goes for markets of high-paying customers, and also maintains a level of polish/refinement on their products, while Jio shoots for the masses across the lower and middle class families where a product purchased is inexpensive enough that spending capital on polish/refinement isn't necessary. Jio's example is basically collecting the smallest grains of silicon from all around the area, while Apple's example is aiming for areas with large silicon wafers from the get go.

Nice informative video but you need to understand the chronology behind the rise of Jio and Hotstar's fall which led to Disney looking for merger or even exiting Indian Market. The main reason is Uday Shankar, the guy who made Star India erstwhile owned by Fox (Rupert Murdoch) a giant in India Media Industry. This guy was eventually made President Asia of Walt Disney but he chose to leave and start his own company again with James Murdoch (Rupert's son) which then started investing in Viacom18 and was behind the acquisition of IPL rights by JioCinema and even HBO/Warner content by Jio which again was Hotstar's main attraction after IPL. With these 2 big properties gone Hotstar was facing the problem of losing subscriber base and IPL's giant bid or spending on Cricket under Shankar at Star led to financial crisis again forcing Disney to pull the plug in the midst of it's global restructuring hence now the merged entity will be lead by Nita Ambani as President and Uday Shankar as Vice President. Fun Fact is that almost all ex-Star India Senior Executives have joined Viacom18 after Shankar so a merged entity will definitely have a monopoly over Indian Media market.
The problem is Reliance Industries Ltd is a conglomerate of multiple businesses.. Demerger's like JioFin would have allowed retailers to actively participate in a particular sector.
