I agree 100% on your sentiment towards grass. My yard is mostly weeds and I love them. I watch the birds eating them. Watch bees enjoying them. Squirrels devour the fresh greens. Weeds YES! Grass NO!
@@ExpeditionHomestead yes, I wildcraft and collected Mullein, wild asparagus , and nettle seeds and now have all 3 growing in my medicinal garden. I have a list of things to collect this year. Elderberry cutting, burdockroot, Goldenrod.
Do I need to thin out the leaves of my dahlias? I planted like 4 or 5 in large pots and they seem like they’re getting crowded. If I do thin out leaves, how do I do it and which do I choose to take off?
I'm confused. Is pinching it to bush out kind of the inverse of removing the suckers? Bc I've seen both. I always try to leave comments on under the radar RUclips channels I enjoy because I understand the algorithms. Cheers 🥂
Pinching is done early on in the season to get a nice base developed and to bush out for MORE blooms and then removing suckers could be done later I. The season to further direct growth to specific flowers to make them BIGGER 😊 sometimes growing try to grow the single largest flower they can instead of more, it’s a balancing act for me 😂 hope this helps out, thank you so much for commenting your question! No body ever says anything about the afterward. Do you wait till the two new shoots at the top are about 6" long-- after their 2nd set of leaves... and pinch the top off both of them? That's what I've done, and now I have 2 new shoots off of each of the 2 new shoots... so then I had one stem pinched so there are 4 new shoots. ...........But.....in a weird coincidence (?) the lower branch of the main stem then also sent out new shoots at every junction below all of that. So now my one stem dahlia has 8 branches... But for all I know I've done something terrible but I won't know it till later summer...
Grass is great in England and should have stayed there. Lawns were a status symbol for the wealthy. BTW, dandelions have more vitamin C than oranges! You can just cut and wash the leaves and boil them. The resulting tea tastes "green" and is an acquired taste. Ha! Thanks for an informative video.

Does cutting the leaves that are going to grow upwards always promote leaves to grow bushier and less tall, for all plants?

Grass is fun when the children are little, but yields zero food and turns you into a slave with weekly mowings. Tfank you for the great tips.
