Whilst we're waiting for the parts of theCB750 project to be delivered we're at a sticking point, so a perfect time to introduce you to the restoration project set for Spring 2019. The 1982 Maico 490 2 stroke motocross bike. This bike has been sitting for the last 6 years in damp storage, so it needs good TLC.

Wow ! Maicos got better looking over the decades ! Still has their signature radial head cooling fins design. Bitchin' ! A big thumper, one-lung, 2-stroke = massive torque for sure !
This is going to be an awesome build man, I am looking forward to watching it! I love that I'm doing an old 2 stroke bike restoration at the same time as my favorite RUclipsr/bike builder!

Maico & old Husqvarna/Husaberg makes the coolest enduro/motocross bikes imo.
I don't mean necessarily the best but I've got somehow love for these bikes.
And my god these new Husqvarna street bikes are sweet af.
I know what you mean, considering they're 37 year old tech with drum brakes & steel frame they can still hold their ground

Those are some knobbly tyres man! I'm not personally that big of a fan of trails bike's styling but I guess they're for off performance not looks. Should still be interesting to watch the restoration tho

Possibly. I wouldn't mind getting into flat track racing.
Should be interesting to watch. What I remember about bikes in that era, the electrics were crap and the plastic quality was iffy too.
yeah the originals were, new UFO plastics were put on this back in 2011, and hasn't been bleached by the sun this time.
