Find a good base vehicle and go for it. I’ve lived in both Michigan and Nevada, currently in Tennessee glad to see the prerunner scene growing across the U.S
I just bought a prerunner about a month ago and I’m in love with it! It came from Michigan, I’m in Iowa. I’m hoping to bring it to Michigan next year hopefully I can run with you guys.
This thing is truly awesome. My oldest daughter is 11yrs and says she wants to build one of these for her car when she drives. This would be perfect so that dad can have a baja truck and daughter can have something to drive. Win Win. Now I just need to convince my wife lol
This makes me proud to own a ranger. I can’t believe that stock 4.0L can even push that truck. I thought they only make like 160hp stock. Mine is yet to have any problems except a valve cover gasket leak. It had a big hole in the upper manifold gasket and ran like shit, but after that and a fuel pump it works great.
i have a rain gutter ranger 1990 single cab long bed my truck is set up the same way except foa s for shocks and no bumps yet but all camburg 4.5 over kit front and deaver leafs out back with stock 2.9 has 4.10 gears with 33s and it does good but would be nice with more power only upgrade to the 2.9 is a 4.0 clutch and flywheel then i had the flywheel lightend up to not change to much weight between going with a bigger clutch
@@clee33able ya same trans but 2.9 comes with a 8 inch clutch and the 4.0 came with a 10 inch oh and had to change the starter but drives good drove it from pismo to redding ca and it drives nice no problems
my brother has a 90 ranger also but it is a extended cab and it has a 5.3 in it with 4l60 and it runs great has plenty of power but it is hard to work on cramed in there he set it way back and moved the firewall back i love my ranger because its simple and it works more fun playin than fixing
Labor is expensive but if you can do it yourself.... 1 3/4 dom is $4.30 a foot so do the math on that. Glass prob $800-$900. Used bypasses around $1200. Used coilovers for the front about the same. Bumps, around $800 used. Seat, misc parts prob 2k. Wheels and tires around $1200 if you find someone that’s selling them. Double all the numbers if you want new parts
@@jss6060 i don't have a metal shop and i don't have a welder. i would like to save money and buy everything new. have someone who's build one before, do all the installation. i already have a 2003 ranger its my work truck that i commute in.
Most of the rangers you see featured on the videos are 98 and older which run I beam (whoop scissors) suspension. They’re definitely the most bang for your buck when you’re building on a budget.
Cesar Galeana well if you already have the truck and want to build that one. Camburg makes a nice A arm kit that costs around 4k not including bumps, coilovers or bypasses. Then you’ll need a engine cage built. Then deavers will be around $900. Then you’ll need hangers and shackles around $500, bypasses, bed cage, fenders, bumpers. Wheels And tires. Spare tires, seats, lights...... prob around a 15k parts list for a standard fun prerunner. If someone is going to do all the work, double your parts list and that’s probably what labor will cost. Or you can do what I did which a lot of people do. Build the front first, drive it and build the rest as you go
Really diggin the garage built trucks! A lot of great trucks out there that didn’t roll out of a shop with a 80k receipt...
Probably still have expensive receipts 😅
Love how it’s all Ford and how the stock stuff is killing it! Built Ford tough...true!😎
"build ford tough" yeah 30 years ago....... last I checked ford is dying and blowing brand new motors that are made in mexico.
Thank you terra for getting right to the video and not trying to sell me fuckin Raid: Shadow Legends, Raycon, Man scaped, dollar shave club ect.
Love to see a kickass leaf set up. Keep sending it!
I don't have a prerunner (yet) and live in Missouri, but this is probably my favorite channel. Keep it up guys!

Yeah kinda nice to see more budget minded builds!!
The cut after the mention of originally having ranchos in the back had me busting lol
Hurts to see other people out there living your dream lol
Might have to copy this build with my own ranger 👀
Then you could be jalapenyo wildest dreams if it's also green?
Do it!
I'll give you a hand if thats the issue lol I don't have money, but i want to build!
James...best host hands down! Great job homie

@@miprerunner ive got a pretty mild build started out in Howell, and I'm looking for a decent starter jump to take it off of!
Nice to see a leaf sprung setup, that’s what the majority of us have. Links are bad ass though
Leafsprings are fine! Simple and cheap too.
i love that old ford boxy look, its like pumpkin spice cinnamon rolls
Any plans on doing some of the griffen fab works buillds? or a Lenger rig?
