I've read both the Gemma Doyle Series and the raven boys series. The sweet far thing gave me a massive book hangover. If you are going to try to fly through those books, you may want to save that one for last. Raven boys did too, because I did not want to leave that world, but not nearly as much.
Have a lovely vacation, that seems like a good choice of books to bring! Also I'm excited to hear what you think about Crazy Rich Asians because I'm thinking about picking it up, too.
Plus, Shadow of the Wind is like a coming of age story that I find really sweet. I love the relationship that Daniel has with his father as well as the other father-like figures he meet along the way. Despite the eerie thriller mystery atmosphere, especially in the beginning, it's really a cozy sweet read.
I'm always really ambitious too when I go on a trip. I will bring more books than I end up reading but I'd rather have too many than not enough! I always worry that I'll finish a book on the plane and have nothing to read lol Have a great trip! I'm currently reading Renegades by Marissa Meyer (via audiobook), Gemina by Amie Kaufman, and A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. I highly recommend them all so far!
I wonder if you've ever heard of Zafons older novels, I'm pretty sure they've been translated to English (I've read 'em in Spanish), he wrote 4 sort of young adult novels before the series he is best known for. I highly recommend, if you are interested in him as an author, to check out his previous work and read it in chronological order. His first novels are really short (around 150p), and it's really amazing to see how he changes as an author, how his voice develops and gets more comfortable with each story. Out of the 4, my fav hands down is Marina, there's something heartbreaking about it and also September Lights (I'm not sure that's the English translation, that's mine based on the Spanish title) So yeah, it's been a few years since I read The Shadow and I'll be in Barcelona in January, I'm definitely picking it up sometime soon I hope.
Hi Mollie, Happy Thanksgiving!! I've read the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy and I LOVE it!! You and I seem to have a very similar taste in books, so I am pretty sure you'll love it (The movie is coming out next year, can't wait!). I'm adding Shadow of the Wind to my TBR, and I finally started reading Marlena today, I think I'm going to like it :)
If you don't end up making it to the Raven King in the next little bit let me know - it's the only one I have left to read in the quartet and having someone else to read it with might finally push me to finish the series. :)
Happy Thanksgiving to you! and Carlos Ruiz Zafon is a good writer,i read The Midnight Palace by him and currently i am reading Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King and his son Owen King
I wanted to get on Goodreads and follow you, but I noticed that the book you are Currently Reading is Three Dark Crowns. Am I looking at an old account of yours? The link you gave in the description is not a hyperlink.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!! Love that you're reading Stephen King. I haven't heard of The Midnight Palace... I need to look it up ASAP!
The Midnight Palace was my least favorite of his young adult novels, have you read Marina or September Lights?
I need to read more of his work,i heard good things about Marina and Prince of Mist and Shadow of the Wind seems to be his masterpiece
I loved The Shadow of the Wind, and I'm wondering if you know how connected The angels game and Prisoner of heaven are?
I **think** it's the same world/characters, but the stories don't build on one another? I'm not sure!

Hi Nicole! Not an old account; I'm just not super active. I pretty much only go on there to record the books I've read!
