good job thanks for using the real traditional way of making this Enjera with all the traditional tools which most of us we don’t have or used it anymore much appreciated from Eritrea 🇪🇷 Lives in Australia 🇦🇺👍
Wow what’s a big challenge.enjera is not easy to make as you see on the plate.but for us Ethiopian people is very simple to us we’re enjoying to make it 🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹
As soon as he said it was going to be an easy challenge, I was inwardly laughing. Injera is one of the hardest breads to master. I have tried it. And I haven't even finished the video yet

Oh yah, am 14 year old kid ma mom used to teach me teaching to bake injera becoz ministry exam I stopped now, my hand r not steady and also shaking,u need constant training.
This is brutal. I’ve ate injera many times , but this is my first time scanning you tube to see how it’s made. If I haven’t seen previous videos and saw this now, I wouldn’t even try to make it. They have lots of courage to make it.
It's not very hard if you just make them smaller, and you need a woven basket to flit it easily. My friend also told me never ever oil the pan or try to scrape the stuck bits off, just leave it and they will stop sticking after the 1st or 2nd
Another comment I would probably give you is that instead of scraping it from the hot plate “ Mitad” use the ground “gomen zer” in the small cups as it is oily and will help you oil the pan.
These people are aspiring chefs and they mock the challenge as a "walk over"?? The epic fails serve their egos right. Even the winning injeras aren't looking all that good. The third contestant should never have passed.
Injera is like a street culture, a city culture. My family is Oromo, we eat it a lot, but it is not traditional. But I don’t know, it might be traditional for other tribes.
This cant be made in home with a small flat stove or you need that big one thing and that thing to pour or you can use spatula to pour too in home?? Cuz the technique look much more like dosa in my country
In Ethiopia you can find every home this stove we call it ( mitad) 😊, my self I'm live in UK and i make injera every week with small stove it's possible 😊
In Eritrea we call the hot pan a magogo and almost none of the finished products were correct. The batter is poured outside in and we wait until bubbles appear on the surface then cover. After a few moments we see if it has cooked through and we slide the meshrafet under and let cool on the stack. Each piece is soft. Nothing crunchy. It would not be rolled until it cools, if at all. Usually it is stored flat.
@@ethiopian4173 thanks ..... To tell ..... Sedona Mechialle yep not even close. It’s so soft and you can’t eat it by its own..and the making process of the dough is much more frustrating for me.
This is different from dosa. The fermentation process is long and the ingredient is also different. Also, dosa is thin and a bit crunchy whereas injera is soft and spongy.
I don't like the way the contestants talk about injera...it's not really an "acquired taste", unless you're a picky five year old. And they're told pretty clear instructions on how to do it, but they don't follow any of the advice and then complain it's too difficult. Also wish they'd stop comparing it to pancakes, it's a flat bread for goodness sake
😂😂😂😂😂😂 All Ethiopian Mother should see this video. I’m wondering how they react😂 It looks easy to make Enjera but not easy especially when you live out side of Ethiopia.
Injera is not exclusive to JUST Ethiopia. It is a main staple in both countries Ethiopia and my country Eritrea. They are very similar but Eritrea is underrepresented. Just wanted to put my country on the map. 🇪🇷✊🏾
That's crazy cuz that's how they do it in Africa in a white boy was like forget it I'mma just try it this way and that's exactly how to do it in Africa they take the minutes slide it underneath it and lift it up
This video was hard to watch. Why would you roll it after it’s made? It’s going to stick to each other. Also it’s not an “ingenius” idea to use the mat that is the traditional way. How else are you supposed to get it in a circle if you’re pouring it in a random way? It won’t spread easily you’re supposed to be pouring form the edge to middle in a circular way.

Start from the circumference and move in.. And use the grass made plate to remove it from the stove. Making the batter is the hard part tho.

Why didn't they pour it from the edge in right away? Seemed like the obvious solution to me. Guess nerves got the better of them all.
they thought it was a pancake
its easier than it looks though lol - its so big and you have to keep your hand steady
If you cant control the sticky to the pan problem lower the heat it slows it down. I think they are just not use to the heaters.
