So much better for amateur golfers that Thomas can adjust his swing speed so that we can see how the clubs could perform for us 'normal' people. Most other pro's are smashing it at 115mph and the numbers / performance become meaningless. Really valuable content and honest overview again lads - well done 👍👍
This is a good video, and I've noticed over time that the 2nd Swing Golf videos are improving all the time. Great delivery and explanations. I have the Launch Pad 1, and it is a total fairway finder for me, a slow swing speed golfer. As soon as I wear it out, I will go for the 2. My ego can take it.
Thank you for doing the slower swing speed testing on these. It's much more relatable for the target market. Very impressive launch, carry, height and landing angle. As an aging 10.6hcp needing to replace old x16 irons and struggling with strike consistency and compression, it's tempting to try these and Cleveland vs typical GI irons (T300, Stealth, Rogue etc).
The 19.5° is the 'FYbrid', which is so-called because it blends from the fairway woods into the hybrids. It's essentially a 3-hybrid. The 4 hybrid is 22.5°, the 5 hybrid is 25.5.
I have the first series of the irons. I hear people saying they are not good looking and not for them ( not here though as you’re more intelligent ). Can’t help thinking how wrong/silly they are. Great spin, distance and landing angle. 😉
Great video. The slower swing speed test for these clubs is great. Most interesting was that the 10.5 degree driver at the ~94mph average off the tee wasn't really any better than the 16 degree 3 wood off the ground at the same swing speed. Get the feeling that at that swing speed, a 12 - 13 degree driver will probably be more beneficial.
Yesterday, I went to a local golf superstore and hit the LP2 7 iron demo with both the senior and regular shafts. (For a 72 year old, amazingly the regular felt and worked much better than the senior.) I currently play a set of Ping G20 irons, so a wide sole and some offset are not alien to me, plus, I used to play a set of Wilson Gooseneck irons some years back which also had notable offset. The LP2 felt solid and most every shot was either on the stripe of the simulator or just slightly left. The store did not have a set of LP2 regulars in stock, so I thought about it over lunch and then ordered a 6 - PW set online. (And, saved about $280 doing so.) I have played a Wilson Triton driver now for about 2 years and it's set to 12 degrees and works well for me and I can only hope I have similar success with the LP2s. (P.S. I would have considered a Ping iron, as the G20s have done me well, but the current Ping line seems to be aimed at the more skilled or younger golfer and their offerings are not in the same ballpark as the LP2. As I age, I need the forgiveness these have as my game will probably decline slowly in the coming years. )
I have the same irons (though I'm "only" 54 I'm a high handicapper!) . I paired them with the Wilson LP2 Hybrids 3 (FY), 4 & 5 and it's a great combo with those irons.
95% of amateur golfers should play this type of iron. Most play with arms they can't hit and definitely can't work. If you can hit the ball consistently straight and high you seldom need to work the ball anyway. Golfers will be better off when they put their egos aside and play with clubs that really allow them the opportunity to play better golf.
I play the first gen launch pad irons, love them, can't recommend enough, im a 5.8 hdcp, hit 7 iron 170 yards. I agree, if you let performance speak for itself, you have to be a rather exceptional ball striker before clubs like this is worsening your scores. A center strike on any club is almost always great, off center strikes is where these clubs really improve scores.
To minimize Confusion: they tested the “FY” Hybrid basically 3-hybrid, which has a loft of 19.5. They did not test the 4-hybrid which has a loft of 22.5.
@@2ndswing love it thanks, Thomas. I’m only at 85mph at impact with driver, I start my downswing with my arms so think this is where I’m losing speed, how do I get my maximum speed to just after impact?
Cor the right layer, these look great. The sound however…. Thomas, it would be interesting to see you try to hit a cut with these clubs, as that combined with the slow swing speed might be even more representative of the mid-high handicapper. Cheers
Hi. Loving your reviews. However when you swing at average amateur speeds you talk about 77 around mph. I’m tall, 67 years old, handicap 13 but iron swing speed is only mid high 60 mph. If I try to swing faster, strike tends to be not so good ☹️
I had a Wilson FG tour driver about 5 years ago that failed at the Hosel after 9 months of use. Wilson would not cover the repair under warranty even though the head of the club still looked new. I vowed to never purchase a Wilson product from that day on.
Not for me even though I am definitely an average swing speed (80 mph with 7i, 95-96mph with the driver). If anything the irons went a little further than I would want, 155 yard carry with a 7i is what I want. Also even though I struggle with a slice with a driver I am unusual in that I have an in to out swing path (still work in progress) with a tendency towards a heel strike and an open face - ball flight starts right and goes even further right - this type of driver is a disaster in my hands, I have proven that it is possible to hosel shank this type of driver

Love Wilson clubs, great value for the average golfer.

Very informative, thank you. Seriously thinking about getting a full set.
Thanks for watching - Thomas
Just to update, ordered a set of irons, 5 to gap wedge and also three wood and hybrid. Been fitted, so waiting now. Thanks for the video.

Yeah I think the 13 version is probably best for who they are made for.
I don't have time to watch it right now, but I'm guessing Thomas hits the 7-iron 240 yards.
Or more 😉

That 98mph driver swing is my dream end goal with driver 🔥 270 is 50-60 yards longer than where I’m at currently and would seriously drop handicap.

Would love to see you guys review Wedgewood hybrid irons.
Thanks for the suggestion we will see what we can do - Thomas
Did these irons have a good feel to them?

That amount of offset in all these clubs would have me living on the left side - where I don't want to be.
I had a set but they were loud!
I think the sounded pretty solid, but they sure go far - Thomas
These test are some what informative , but why not bring in real high handicappers for some real results?
