I think the industry generally didn't wanna put out such positivity as slum village and the like. There should always be a 'slum village, d12, pharcyde, Dilla, Tribe, Citizen Kane, De La Soul, Madlib, MF DOOM,' place in hip hop. But its more profitable to sell something else than young dudes having musical fun. These dudes my favourite emcees possibly. Made me question the way I like rap. That simplicity and off the dome messing around can be the best thing ever, its so personal and light hearted fun.

Slum is definitely one of my favorite groups and yes they are underrated. We also need to speak on how they always were able pull out stars ahead of time Dwele and then Kanye? Especially back then its not like today where you record and drop the track a week later. A lot had to be cleared so you know they got that Ye verse before that and timing was impeccable.

Good video but just a little constructive criticism. The background music is a bit distracting. If you're gonna have something play the whole time on repeat try and find some music that fits in the background more and turn it down a bit. Just a word of advice. Other than that great video very informative

Heard Fantastic Vol. 2 back in 2000. That along with Blackstar in 1998 and Common’s Like Water for Chocolate was the only hip hop I was listening to, I was starting to become disheartened by the end of the golden age

I saw them when I was 14 in 2004 @ Earthlink Live in ATL. Along with Bone Crusher they opened up for.... D12. So weird. But It was the D12 World album concert. I'm a huge Shady fan and Eminem wasn't even fucking there. But I loved the concert and saw Proof b4 he passed away. RIP.

... Jay Dee left the group... because they sucked... and weren't going to get any better... Most of the concepts came from jd... ALL of the beats came from jd... If he had stayed, he would have never grew as an artist and would have at best been, nothing more than a CRUTCH for the group... FACTS!

Elzhi said that RJ Rice is the poison of Slum Village. RJ had El taken off of half of the album, including “Reunion Part 2.” To add insult to injury, they shot a video for “Reunion Part 2” and T3 still says El’s name in the song. El felt that 3 was taking shots at him in the song. The issue El had with RJ is that El got a new manager and he wanted to see the books. T3 is lame for allowing RJ to take Elzhi off of half of the album. Elzhi left the group before Villa Manifesto was released. T3 said the Elzhi was more focused on being a solo artist. There used to be a video on RUclips where T3 was being interviewed and Phat Kat called in to call T3 out by saying that T3 knew that Manifesto would be the last album (which obviously, it wasn’t). DJ Dez also called in to call 3 out. It’s a sad situation. On another note, at the end of “We’ll Show You,” Dilla was being interviewed and he said that he was only on 2 joints, which turned out to be “Scheming” and “Earl Flinn.” I could be wrong about that, though, seeing how Dilla died in ‘06, so don’t quote me on it.

Its actually like this: Barak Records folded before villa manifesto, then the RJ estate opened up neastra records, which means slum village had to sign a new contract. This was an opportunity for eLZhi to negotiate a fair contract and Neastra basicly couldnt handle that situation as they basicly didn't expect it to happen, while they where starting a brand new venture as the old venture did not exist anymore and thus there were no valid old agreements in play anymore. From that point on a contract never got signed but they kept recording. Which means Elzhi was recording as a free agent basicly. Then they basicly started to do "group stuff" without letting eLZhi know. Interviews, shows, music videos etc. At which at one point it became a public thing like wtf is going on. Thats why that radio interview was so epic. T3 and Neastra where really not handling the whole thing professionally at all. They kinda let the shit show take place.
The fact that they went to the point of cutting elzhi of songs, it was a petty move to show power, as they did not actually have the balls to kick him out of the group, they knew they were wrong but still wanted to flex their power, it makes the whole villa manifesto album such a dark thing which gives it a unique vibe actually. But it was a strange thing.
Nowadays Slum Village is no more then a cash grab to do tour shows for audencies that don't get they get a spin off, not the actual thing. Same stuff is up with the pharcyde, fuck that shit.

@@BikkelTV Thanks for the info. I just spoke on what El said in an interview. I may have been wrong about him wanting to see the books. Anyway, I was hoping that one day they would release the album with all of Elzhi’s verses. I can’t even listen to “Reunion Part 2.”
